Do you think Michael Jackson was guilty?

Of the sexual abuse of boys.
I'm interested in a poll.
G = you think he was definitely guilty
I = you think he was innocent
(Stemming from a debate with DH last night!)

I suspect a fan of his will find this thread and then we'll get a huge tidal wave of defenders

caramac04 · 12/05/2024 12:47

G. He got away with so much partly because he was surrounded by sycophants who didn’t tell him his desires were unacceptable.
No way on gods earth would I have ever allowed a child of mine to sleep over at a celebrity’s house and Wacko could have shoved his money up his ass because no amount would have shut me up.

Lonelycrab · 12/05/2024 12:47

Guilty.

AhBiscuits · 12/05/2024 12:48

G for sure.
I trust that people who think otherwise would have been fine for him to share a bed with their child.

frustratedashell · 12/05/2024 12:50

I had this conversation years ago with someone who thought he was innocent. So I said would you let him babysit for your child? That made him think!

Combattingthemoaners · 12/05/2024 12:50

100% guilty. People make excuses for him all of the time. Imagine if a 45 old bloke in your street was sleeping in the same bed as random kids, there would be outrage and rightly so. For some reason that weirdo still remains untouchable.

sleepyscientist · 12/05/2024 12:53

Not guilty by means of insanity

DinnaeFashYersel · 12/05/2024 12:54

Very guilty

lemonyellows · 12/05/2024 13:09

Guilty. So much evidence including from his sisters statement even though retracted.

Interesting point about Ian Hawkins. I refuse to listen to him. I also refuse to listen to Michael Jackson but was never a huge fan anyway, so loss to me there. I think fans are blindsided by him. I remember when he pleaded not guilty and he danced on top of a car. In the light of the severity of the case, this was also really inappropriate and just to get his fans cheering.

InnocentOrGuilty · 12/05/2024 13:10

I really expected more of a 50/50 split. Very interesting.
And no one has yet said 'innocent' and if so, why they think that. Yet he still has millions of loyal fans who love him and his music - where are they?

Absolutely - and I think he was very lucky he lived in a time before SM.

Tourmalines · 12/05/2024 13:12

Guilty

Mirabai · 12/05/2024 13:14

G.

TeleGardenGnome · 12/05/2024 13:17

The fans haven't realised your thread exists yet but they will be here soon.

I think the musical is really inappropriate. If I had time on my hands (I don't) I could see myself outside with a placard.

Scottishshortbread11877 · 12/05/2024 13:18

Guilty

TeleGardenGnome · 12/05/2024 13:18

So guilty

ontheflighttosingapore · 12/05/2024 13:18

Hundred percent

norfolkbroadd · 12/05/2024 13:20

I absolutely believe he was guilty. And if he comes on the radio I switch over.

lingmerth · 12/05/2024 13:21

Guilty for me too.
I grew up in the era of Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 v Donny Osmond and The Osmonds. I was camp Jackson with posters on my wall and loved MJ. All those early songs still make my heartstrings pull when I hear them like lots of music. It was my childhood and early teens. Lots of memories doing homework while listening to him.

Yellowbananasarebetterthangreen · 12/05/2024 13:21

Guilty.

DGPP · 12/05/2024 13:22

I love his music and still play it. But he is guilty

zingally · 12/05/2024 13:24

Oh, 100% guilty.

I watched that documentary a few years ago, interviewing the boys now that they're men. I'd been a bit on the fence before, but I found myself 100% believing them.

lemonyellows · 12/05/2024 13:25

SirChenjins · 12/05/2024 13:11

This is so true. I think it would be a different case outcome if trial was today

ImAlwaysknackered · 12/05/2024 13:26

Absolutely.

rockingbird · 12/05/2024 13:35

Guilty, most definitely! I actually can't listen to his music and have been known to turn off the radio if he comes on. God only knows how he got away with it, the only blessing being he's now dead.
