Do you think Michael Jackson was guilty?

Of the sexual abuse of boys.
I'm interested in a poll.
G = you think he was definitely guilty
I = you think he was innocent

Guilty. I'm afraid . I think he had too much power and he abused it. Parents would just leave their children alone with him.

I was just about to say no one would get away with that now. But then I thought people still get blinded by fame.

If Gary Barlow for example said to a family, your son has won a singing competetion, I'm going to take your 10 year old son away to a hotel with me, and make him a star.

They would probably still agree.

No doubt in my mind he was guilty. Leaving Neverland sealed the deal. Can’t even look at a picture of him now, repulsive man.

Absolutely this & I love that none of our national radio stations play his songs same as Gary Glitter

HRTQueen · 12/05/2024 15:57

Yes he is absolutely guilty

he was also the most talented performer or his generation and was absolutely ground breaking and that influence will continue

for many it’s hard to separate look how people will tie themselves in knots defending David Bowie or Jimmy Page

Carly944 · 12/05/2024 16:03

I really think that a lot of men , if they have power and access, will be paedophiles.

It is so easy to abuse children.

People abuse the weakest people in society.

I don't know how to protect children more.

IwishMaxTheriothadanOnlyfans · 12/05/2024 16:12

Sadly I'm certain he was guilty. I was a huge fan though childhood and teenage years and didn't really believe all the initial stuff because I didn't want to and because I bought into MJs damage limitation publicity.

Having watched Finding Neverland and seen the horrific damage he did to those men when they were just little boys, I've had to adjust my view and accept that he was a paedophile and a child abuser. I also think he was a deeply damaged human being and the kids' parents let them down horrifically but none of that excuses what MJ did.

peanutbuttertoasty · 12/05/2024 16:25

Absolutely G and sickening. Some people have very poor predator radars, like those poor kids’ parents.

ShyPoet · 12/05/2024 16:36

Guilty.
I think his case shows how hard it is to make rich men accountable for their crimes.

Carly944 · 12/05/2024 16:44

People sell their children for fame.

The parents were also guilty.

Did you see leaving neverland.

One of the kids parents said "oh we had such a great time, Michael brought us round the world, he brought us to concerts, he bought us a house'. So when he said can I bring little Jimmy away on tour with me and stay in my hotel room, we said yes.

I thought it was very bizarre. I remember in the documentary one of the mothers was still talking about how great her time with Michael Jackson had been, even though her child had said that he was raped by Michael Jackson.

Startingagainandagain · 12/05/2024 16:54

Absolutely guilty.

Another example of someone with huge wealth and fame getting away with abusive behaviour for a long time because so many other people financially profited from his career too.

Lifesabeachbaby · 12/05/2024 16:55

Guilty. I don’t understand how anyone can listen to his music anywhere anymore.

Carly944 · 12/05/2024 17:07

He was so guilty.

MJ groomed the families of the boys, as well as his fans. He basically groomed the whole world.

Like Savile, he carefully created this version of himself as generous, charitable little boy lost who had missed out on his childhood, but it was simply to get access to children.

The reason the US has not had its Savile/Harris moment is because there is so much money tied up with him. Not least Sony who paid $3/4 billion for his back catalogue in 2016 and incidentally, by a series of subsidiaries, funded the recent documentary trying to discredit his victims.

cultjarteriaky · 12/05/2024 17:21

Innocent and all the ‘evidence’ against him are lies

GrimDamnFanjo · 12/05/2024 17:23

Guilty.
He cultivated an image of being a child who never grew up and manipulated adults to gain access to children.

Why do you think that?

God that's so depressing isn't it . I wonder the same though, so many names coming out as guilty who had the power and access like you say :(

petermaddog · 12/05/2024 17:30

and they dont talk about elvis a pedo too specially 14 year old girls
king of pop mj
king of rock ep

JanewaysBun · 12/05/2024 17:36

I used to be a fan but no longer as he is so obviously guilty. I can no longer listen to his music as it makes me feel very uncomfortable, however it makes Sony millions so he feels untouchable even after death

rumred · 12/05/2024 17:39

Guilty sadly. Who 'sleeps' with other people's children? You wouldn't let a child stay with Mick Jackson ffs

Starboy14 · 12/05/2024 17:53

G. Definitely.

Betterifido · 12/05/2024 17:57

Guilty and I think it’s really interesting how people like Jimmy Saville and that person from Lost Proohets etc are (rightly) disgraced now, radio stations won’t play music, awards and titles stripped. But it seems to me that people are just turning a blind eye to him and carrying on playing his music, giving him accolades etc. it’s as if a certain level of fame puts you above judgement? Yuk

Trulyme · 12/05/2024 18:08

I’m completely on the fence.

As @Carly944 says:
I really think that a lot of men , if they have power and access, will be paedophiles.

I agree that many men are/would be paedos if they weren’t worried about being caught/could have access.

But I also would have thought if he was guilty there would be more proof - eg families wouldn’t have accepted money for their silence (what parent would do this if it was genuine) and wouldn’t the home alone boy not have experienced it and come forward by now.

Abusers don’t target everyone. Some may target only one or two people. This is to keep up their oh so innocent persona so that others will think the victim is a liar and deranged and that the abuser couldn’t possibly do such a thing. Almost all domestic violence victims will tell you that their OH was admired by lots of people and that nobody believed them when they told people about the abuse. Abusers are master manipulators and they only target people who they feel they can get away with abusing.
