Would you kill...?

Hello again

This is my 2nd crime related post of the night! Have been binge-watching stuff.

My questions are:

  1. is there anyone you would kill if you knew 100% you would get away with it? (If yes, would you want to do it yourself or via a hitman?) and

  2. would you accept say £1million but you knew that a random person you don't know would drop dead?

Bet I'm going to have some fcked up dreams tonight!

Thanks for any responses.

1- Putin
2-I think the answer is no. However I’m well aware that I could save many more lives by giving a much smaller amount of money to charity and, while I donate regularly, I could definitely donate more without compromising my quality of life much. So that’s completely inconsistent.

bakewellbride · 31/03/2024 22:18

@Dacadactyl if it saved the lives of my children then yes 100%. No matter what i would do anything for the lives of my children. Absolutely anything. And even if it meant I spent the rest of my life in jail I would not care one bit. I think almost everyone thinks like this?

I don't think like this. Even if I knew I'd get away with it, I don't think I'd do it.

I wonder tho whether religious beliefs play a part in my thinking on this. I don't think I'd take an innocent life, in any circumstances.

RottingInBed · 31/03/2024 22:23

@Dacadactyl that would make sense that religious belief could come into it. Maybe if you think your child is off to heaven you feel differently about their death. (Or if you think you'd burn in hell forever!)

  1. yes - Putin. He is someone who if I could kill, I would. But he is the only person.
  2. No.
RottingInBed · 31/03/2024 22:24

@MugLove good point. I do believe that the best use of money in terms of number of lives saved per £1 donated is buying anti-malaria nets. And yet people often donate to causes they "prefer" for some reason. Eg a disease THEIR relative died of.

ApocalypseNowt · 31/03/2024 22:25

Yes. For a very petty reason too. How do I get this going? Is there a form?

Yes.

Dacadactyl · 31/03/2024 22:25

@RottingInBed I'd possibly frame it as a test from God, or something like that.

It's not even thinking about me going to hell that'd bother me. I can't quite explain it, I'd just know it was wrong to kill an innocent person.

RottingInBed · 31/03/2024 22:25

@ApocalypseNowt haha, you, me and a few others are brutally honest!

Butteredtoast55 · 31/03/2024 22:33

No to both. Using your criteria, I don't know anyone personally I would murder and especially not for something as trivial as being annoying at work. If there was a hypothetical scenario where I had a chance to kill someone who had done something horrific, maybe.
As for the second, you're still killing someone for money. That's grotesque and could cause immense pain and suffering to others just so you can live a comfortable life. I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

@EatCrow Yeah, I really need to get outside tomorrow or at least watch some comedy!

I should have written Q1 so that it excluded like war criminals and stuff. I mean someone you just dislike or have a grudge with. If you could get rid of them and get away with it, would you do it.

Then no to both, however if I could take out people who commit crimes against humanity I'd do it with my bare hands.

People who I just dislike or hate etc, nah, fuck em, not worth ruining my spring nails for 😂

RottingInBed · 31/03/2024 22:03

I really am genuinely surprised that no-one would accept ONE MILLION POUNDS sitting right in front of them. Esp if no-one found out how you got it. Maybe responses would be different if say we were in the states and that money would pay for an operation for your child which they wouldn't otherwise get. And in that case, would it need to be lifesaving or just lifechanging....many ponderings!

Well...that's not what you said, you said you'd like a million pounds for your family to live more comfortably and you would be happy for a stranger to die in order to achieve that.

Stickyricepudding · 31/03/2024 22:48
  1. Yes via a hitman as they'd know what they're doing & wouldn't faff around like I would
  2. No because I don't like the concept of blood money
RottingInBed · 31/03/2024 22:49

@Winnipeggy I said 1m would change my family's life. I'm not thinking of luxury holidays and champagne (it's not enough for that). I'm more thinking "not living in a damp infested house in a dangerous area" and sensible stuff like that.

BTW this is all about a theoretical family. I don't actually have kids!

I read a futuristic short story about premise 2 once
There was a game show and the participants had to decide to press the button and kill a random person (or not).
The twist was the man the story followed chose to press the button and killed..... Himself in the future 🤯

Boombatty · 31/03/2024 22:57

This thread is beyond depressing. Humanity is evil.

HelpMeGetThrough · 31/03/2024 23:02

Q1. Yes, I know exactly who and would do it myself. Wouldn't lose any sleep, in fact would probably sleep better.

Q2. No.

WishesPromised · 31/03/2024 23:02

I'd have to think about it.

Femme2804 · 31/03/2024 23:04
  1. yes. Definetely yes.
  2. one millions NO but 100mil YES 😅
Autumnleavesarebrown · 31/03/2024 23:06

No. I’d like to think I could kill baddies but nope, I likely can’t.

No.

WouldYouLikeMeToSpellThatForYou · 31/03/2024 23:19

Boombatty · 31/03/2024 20:30

I think it's kind of frightening how many people have said yes. It explains a lot about humanity.

^ Was just thinking this

1.)Yes I could have someone die/kill someone who for example was a war criminal/child abuser etc ...although it's hard because goodness is subjective. Although most people can agree that a sex offender or serial killer is 'bad'

2.)No amount of money is worth someone's child or parent etc potentially dropping dead for £1m.

BronzeAge · 31/03/2024 23:28

Yes. And I’d tell her exactly why I was doing it.

No. But I don’t need money. I imagine it would be a more difficult decision if you were desperate.

UpsideLeft · 31/03/2024 23:34

Yes

Yes

  1. Yes, a few. All political. I'd use a hitman though!
  2. Absolutely no way.
