Would you kill...?

Hello again

This is my 2nd crime related post of the night! Have been binge-watching stuff.

My questions are:

  1. is there anyone you would kill if you knew 100% you would get away with it? (If yes, would you want to do it yourself or via a hitman?) and

  2. would you accept say £1million but you knew that a random person you don't know would drop dead?

Bet I'm going to have some fcked up dreams tonight!

Thanks for any responses.

I do find this absolutely fascinating btw. And challenging. Morality, humanity, how we view ourselves and what we believe we are and are not capable of.

Boombatty · 03/04/2024 20:55

Actually no. I take that back. I don't think naive is the right word. Perhaps "in denial" is more apt.

Well it's just my opinion but I would say yes you're evil for saying that you would kill someone you know if you could get away with it and that you would let a random person be killed if you got money out of it. And you're naive if you think you aren't.

Is evil in the thought or in the action though?

I will never be in that situation so I have not done anything evil. Am I evil if nothing in my life has been evil?

Blackcats7 · 03/04/2024 20:59

Yes, Putin and Trump for the common good
No to second question

SwordToFlamethrower · 03/04/2024 21:00
  1. Yes. I have a huge, huge list.
  1. Absolutely not

Personally yes. I think having the thought and conviction that you would murder someone for your own gain is evil. Even if you never actually carry out the act.

I bet they all vote Conservative.

??? It's a game and hypothetical. Lighten up.

Maybe I am then. 🤷 If its thoughts that determine when a person is evil rather than actions then I suspect I am far from alone in that.

People saying what about Putin - there is always going to be another Putin and another Trump. It isn't up to you to play god.

Why isn't it? When Putin is playing god with other people's lives, why shouldn't someone take him out?

@EatCrow Yeah, I really need to get outside tomorrow or at least watch some comedy!

I should have written Q1 so that it excluded like war criminals and stuff. I mean someone you just dislike or have a grudge with. If you could get rid of them and get away with it, would you do it.

Damn, you've ruined my very clear Yes, with hitman, to Q1.

Among people I've known personally, there are a few whose premature deaths I'd be quietly pleased to hear of. I don't hate any of them enough to cause those deaths, though. So, no.

Q1 addendum: I would kill somebody who was about to kill me (if I got the chance) and probably if they were about to kill other people.

Q2: I wish I could say yes 😂 but I'd just feel awful while spending my million. So no to that, as well.

Can we go back to world leaders & suchlike, please? I wanna be a theoretical murderer!

Dollenganger333 · 04/04/2024 23:04

Because two wrongs don't make a right. I feel like that should be obvious.

Dollenganger333 · 04/04/2024 23:06

Also, if Putin got taken out, it's likely that another like him would just fill his shoes.

Look up Utilitarianism.

Dollenganger333 · 04/04/2024 23:44

So if you're going to take out Putin, how many others do you think you could take out without being a murderer yourself?

It's so ridiculous. I mean, obviously the man is a piece of shit and I despise him. Sadly, there are plenty willing to carry on his evil.

1 - no. If someone had wronged me that much, death would be a mercy. I would want them to suffer, and I would want them to know why. That is not possible if they are dead.

2 - Yes, People drop dead all the time. Me getting £££ for it would not have much bearing on that.
