Would you kill...?

Hello again

This is my 2nd crime related post of the night! Have been binge-watching stuff.

My questions are:

  1. is there anyone you would kill if you knew 100% you would get away with it? (If yes, would you want to do it yourself or via a hitman?) and

  2. would you accept say £1million but you knew that a random person you don't know would drop dead?

Bet I'm going to have some fcked up dreams tonight!

Thanks for any responses.

Yes

No

RottingInBed · 31/03/2024 22:09

@Dacadactyl really? I think most folk would gladly kill ANYONE even an innocent person to save their own child.

I really am genuinely surprised that no-one would accept ONE MILLION POUNDS sitting right in front of them. Esp if no-one found out how you got it. Maybe responses would be different if say we were in the states and that money would pay for an operation for your child which they wouldn't otherwise get. And in that case, would it need to be lifesaving or just lifechanging....many ponderings!

Values don't have a value.

bakewellbride · 31/03/2024 22:12

@Dacadactyl "And no, I wouldn't even do it for my child to have a life saving operation."

Really? I find that fascinating. I would do absolutely anything to protect / save the lives of my children and I mean anything. Even killing others if it absolutely came to it. I thought pretty much everyone thought the same so this thread is interesting to me.

IsadoraQuagmire · 31/03/2024 22:12

Yes to both.

@Chunkycookie I wouldn't trust anyone who claimed they didn't have a list for 1. Saintliness is dangerous and hides all sorts of shit (as I'm sure you are aware).

Though to be fair- this is anonymous, so there’s no real reason to lie.

I obviously have someone in mind for q.1, but actually don’t think I’d be able to live with the guilt. It actually comes from a selfish place- I want to be able to sleep at night with a clear conscience. It’s not because I’m saintly!

Shushquite · 31/03/2024 22:12
  1. NO
  2. NO

Only because I believe in redemption and that people can truly change. I can't tell the difference from someone who definitely wants to change and someone who is providing lip service. So I will leave the deciding when someone dies to God.

TitaniasAss · 31/03/2024 22:12

No and no.

@Dacadactyl really? I think most folk would gladly kill ANYONE even an innocent person to save their own child.

And yet the parents of children waiting for transplants don't go around killing people to get organs.

I suspect that your ethics are shared by fewer people than you think.

Obviously I don't know what I'd do, because I've never been in that situation. But I'm not sure I would kill an innocent person to save my own children. I'm not sure how that situation would ever even arise. But if we are talking about some sort of dystopian nightmare where I have to kill an innocent to protect my own child, I still don't think I would.

I'd rather my child not live in a world like that.

I think I could kill someone in self defence of my children, but that is different and justified.

bakewellbride · 31/03/2024 22:13

Also op you said mid thread would you do 2 if you could know who was going to die. Which changes the answers massively I think. Now I'm not sure if the answers since you said that are in answer to the original 2 or knowing the person 2 and I'm getting confused!

LondonFox · 31/03/2024 22:14

Yes (do it myself)
Yes if I was 100% sure it would not be someone I care about.

ZenNudist · 31/03/2024 22:15

No and no. I wouldn't want to kill. Its a mortal sin.

RottingInBed · 31/03/2024 22:15

@Bakewellpuddingandcustard apologies!

You would kill an innocent person?

carly2803 · 31/03/2024 22:17

no and no

but i would kill someone for free and do jail time if anyone hurt my kids

VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia · 31/03/2024 22:17

I have a list of people who I would celebrate the death of. That's not the same as having a kill list or being willing to kill.

I would not take the £1m.

@Dacadactyl if it saved the lives of my children then yes 100%. No matter what i would do anything for the lives of my children. Absolutely anything. And even if it meant I spent the rest of my life in jail I would not care one bit. I think almost everyone thinks like this?

CurlewKate · 31/03/2024 22:19

No and no.

tobee · 31/03/2024 22:20

No & no. It's not because I'm saintly either Hmm. I'd only ever take a life if I was being directly threatened by someone in that instant . Or they were directly threatening my family member. Kill or be killed.

I always think, when you read about true crime involving murder, how some people can kill for so little reason though.

And shocked how many people would volunteer to execute someone on capital punishment charges.

And no, I wouldn't even kill "paedos" as pp put it.

And I’m an atheist btw

@VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia you have the best possible username for this thread!

It's a reference to a tweet made by India Willoughby, calling FWR posters "the Mumsnet mafia", after the sacking of Luna Spain for abusing a customer and breaking a glass door at Spain's workplace.

RottingInBed · 31/03/2024 22:20

@bakewellbride I agree. Our Tiger Mum brain would take over and eliminate any threat to our child even an "innocent" person.

  1. Yes but wouldn't do it myself and it would be of benefit to lots of people.
  1. No - it wouldn't be worth any amount of money wondering who had died all my life.
