Mine is when the thread is something along the lines of "what's your favourite dinner?" Or "Worst holiday you've ever been on?" And OP replies to every single post!

OP posts:
RunningThroughMyHead · 25/02/2024 19:55

The total bias towards marriage! As if people come out smelling of roses after divorce. It's often extremely long, painful, expensive and ruins any scrap of civility left in the relationship.

SleepingisanArt · 25/02/2024 19:55

I can't stand to open any of the threads which start with 'how old do I look', 'what size do you think I am?' I read a few ages ago and the OPs were mightily offended when others thought they looked older or 'larger' than they actually are.....

I also dislike when the OP doesn't return to their thread when it would be helpful if they did and I hate old threads being resurrected- I look at the date of the OP and don't read on if it isn't recent.

At the moment I’m pissed off that that the Thanks feature hasn’t taken off.

Though of course it may just be that my posts don’t inspire gratitude 😁

But I am committed, and I will carry on thanking in the hope that it catches on.

I click the thanks button when I like/agree with a post, also when one makes me laugh Grin.
My bugbear is when posters blow smoke up an OP's arse- 'you sound lovely/oh my love/you're an amazing mum/etc'. They only have a one-sided post to go on, they have no idea if they're a lovely woman! And half the time, no they're not a lovely mum/woman even going by their version of events!

Beckafett · 25/02/2024 19:57

People like me who don't read the whole thread without commenting; posters who post and don't like any replies so ghost their own thread.

smearymirror · 25/02/2024 19:57

Lack of naunce.

Westfacing · 25/02/2024 19:58

CarrotOfPeace · 25/02/2024 19:49

"I have a friend, let's call them Elthelred"

Grin

And you just know it's a made up story!

canttellyouwhereorwhatido · 25/02/2024 20:00

He has marked his mistress... ? It just creates a vacancy...

Well not for me. Married his mistress after wife cheating on him 4x ..

Been blissfully happy for 19 years...

canttellyouwhereorwhatido · 25/02/2024 20:00

Marked + married

But it can be amusing.

A thread posted in January but is clearly about the summer holidays (yes, obviously might to be in the uk) or a thread you're reading in the summer but is worrying about how Christmas day is going to be really should make posters pause and check the date of the op.
The ones that obviously don't, and post an answer without even considering that it might be a resurrected zombie make me laugh.
Some people just really aren't very bright

Thighlengthboots · 25/02/2024 20:03

People who go off on a random tangent thats completely irrelevant to the post. Eg,
"My husband is cheating on me with the check out girl at Tescos"

"BTW, does anyone else really prefer Sainsbury's to Tescos? I really do, I think their veg section is far better and more varied"

Yozzer87 · 25/02/2024 20:04

When someone posts a thread, either of misery porn, or one that's overly dramatic with way too many details than most people would be willing to share on the Internet. Sometimes it might be "live", posting about it while the awful thing is occurring and it is just so obviously bullshit. But you aren't allowed to troll hunt and if you say anything that suggests it's suspicious, you get shot down by the posters who have become way too emotionally invested in a made up yarn.

NewyearNC · 25/02/2024 20:04

Use of the word ‘unclench’

Maireas · 25/02/2024 20:05

That drives me mad.
As does "pearl clutching".

TinkerTiger · 25/02/2024 20:05

SomethingUniqueThisTime · 25/02/2024 17:36

Mine is the length of time it takes for MNHQ to take down troll posts.

Mine is the obvious perv ones that they leave standing and posters feeding them.

fizzybubblywater · 25/02/2024 20:06

I cringe when I see this because it never ends well and people guess 60 when the person is clearly in their 30s. It usually involves the OP going really quiet and then saying right at the end meekly "does anyone have any anti ageing cream recommendations?"

BumperCars · 25/02/2024 20:09

It does make me wonder if anyone on MN is actually capable of making a decision?
The lack of assertiveness is phenomenal. I have never posted anything on social media seeking advice, l just sort it.

brummyadele91 · 25/02/2024 20:14

Mine is the obvious perv ones that they leave standing and posters feeding them.

At least once a month the “Im a member of swingers clubs, AMA” loser pops up with a different username pretending to be a woman.

Maireas · 25/02/2024 20:16

Every so often someone will start a thread about how young they look, and what a terrible disadvantage it is in life. Sometimes being mistaken for their teenage daughter, or colleagues and random strangers believing them to be at least 30 years younger than their age.
Not one of them ever posts a picture......

pictoosh · 25/02/2024 20:16

ThisHonestQuail · 25/02/2024 17:48

When people imagine bits in the OP or make huge assumptions. The mental gymnastics is wild sometimes.

For me, it's this...and by a long chalk.

I really grit my teeth when a poster picks up the imagination ball and runs with it, before posting as though their own version of the story were fact and they've got it nailed.
So sure of themselves, absolutely fantasising.

Maireas · 25/02/2024 20:16

You can edit, but I think there's a time limit.

Allshallbewell2021 · 25/02/2024 20:18

I dislike the nasty posts although I forgive them a bit if they're funny.

Sometimes an OP has anticipated criticism and held themselves to some account and there can still be such a negative pile on. But maybe that's because you've chosen AIBU rather than chat 🤦‍♀️.

I hate it when I post something and get almost no replies... 😆

FictionalCharacter · 25/02/2024 20:19

Posting in AIBU "for traffic".
AIBU voting where it's impossible to tell which way round it is.

It is ten minutes apparently.

StarlightLime · 25/02/2024 19:51

A more specific example would be useful...

As I don’t like transphobia, I’m not going to go through nasty transphobic threads to find ‘specific examples’ for people who honestly must be feigning ignorance about this sites’ reputation for said transphobia.
