Mine is when the thread is something along the lines of "what's your favourite dinner?" Or "Worst holiday you've ever been on?" And OP replies to every single post!

OP posts:
Maireas · 25/02/2024 18:28

When people post something of concern and would like a resolution, but refuse to give any details.
eg: "will my daughter be picked on for the name I have chosen - although I won't tell you the name"
Or: "no-one is buying my product on Etsy, I need advice but won't tell you what the product is".

PeggySooo · 25/02/2024 18:31

People who accuse you of making stuff up in your posts. It's so annoying. Yes sorry, people in my life really have done ridiculous stuff. 🙄

‘Nobody wants to view my house but I’m too scared to post a rightmove link’

Ok fine but what advice do you reasonably expect if we can’t see it?

When one adult tells another to "grow up" it's so bloody patronising!

Someone told me to grow up the other day and it made me laugh all afternoon 🥲

ValleyClouds · 25/02/2024 18:35

Posters who say sorry its long when they've droned on in a massive post with lots of detail that isn't in any way relevant to the issue. Want answers? Be concise. No one has time for a running commentary!

Posters who pick a fight with someone on a thread and make the thread about that. I made a real tit of myself on a thread once by not reading the OP properly. I practically got a virtual stoning. I apologised repeatedly but people just seemed to enjoy piling on and being holier than thou.

MoonWoman69 · 25/02/2024 18:41

I absolutely hate it when people feel the need to comment on posts in order to just be a bit of a twat. If you aren't interested in the post, or have no real advice/input/anything nice to say, just scroll by, it's not bloody hard. There seems to be an awful lot of that going on lately. As is people referring to others as being dim or having a low IQ just because of their lifestyle choices! So, their choice isn't for you, if it's not affecting anyone else and nobody is in danger, just move on!
Far too many argumentative folk around on MN sadly!

UnctuousUnicorns · 25/02/2024 18:51

"Oh and posters who go to great pains to conceal the sex of their child"

Oh God, yes. We've no idea who you are, love, and unless it's actually somehow relevant to the thread, nor could we give a shit what sex your equally anonymous child is. 🙄

ValleyClouds · 25/02/2024 18:53

Outing Hobby

It's cycling love and if not it's Golf

GrandHighPoohbah · 25/02/2024 19:06

When people post about a particular problem that might not happen to be about global poverty, and someone replies with "If this is all you have to worry about then you need to get out more". As if people are incapable of having both big and small worries at the same time.

GloriaMundy · 25/02/2024 19:07

Posters who state something as fact when it's not, and then claim to be an expert in that area, which given your knowledge of that field makes you think they either qualified via a dodgy organisation or that they are lying.

Brawcolli · 25/02/2024 19:09

tentonine · 25/02/2024 18:09

I've actually never seen any transphobia here. Can you give me an example?

Have a look at any thread where trans people are mentioned.

vincettenoir · 25/02/2024 19:12

@WASZPy completely agree about all the advice to go NC anytime a friend or family member gets on someone's nerves. So regressive and immature.

Easipeelerie · 25/02/2024 19:12

People accusing you of drip feeding when you only gave additional, not directly relevant, information because of a question someone on your thread has asked you.

People jumping to conclusions in cliched ways without reading the whole thread.

tiredmama23 · 25/02/2024 19:13

When people don't read all OP's posts, see that the situation has been resolved like hours (or even days 😂) ago, and respond to the original question as if that's remotely helpful anymore.

I have a thread running at the moment where this exact thing is happening, and other posters are coming on to say "OP has updated, it's been and gone, read her posts", yet it's still going ..... 🤷‍♀️😂

swayingpalmtree · 25/02/2024 19:14

When people post as if they want advice and it reads as if they do, then when people give helpful advice they get super aggressive and say they arent taking any of the advice and are "just venting". Well fcking say that in your OP then- don't have a go people for not being mind readers! Fuckwits.

tiredmama23 · 25/02/2024 19:14

Oh also "drip feed" winds me up so much. You have to tell your entire life story in the OP, otherwise any additional detail you add as the discussion progresses is a "drip feed" 🙄

BIossomtoes · 25/02/2024 19:17

Puzzlefactor · 25/02/2024 17:39

People who don't RTFT. A perfect example of such a thread has just been deleted.

We belong in the same tribe.

marshmallowfinder · 25/02/2024 19:17

People who say brought when they actually mean bought.

People who write your when they actually mean you're.

People who apostrophise any plurals, including years and ages, such as 1980's and women in their 40's. NO!

Puzzlefactor · 25/02/2024 19:18

Pedants.

YES!! Omg I didn't realise I had so many MN gripes til I read this thread 😂

"Grow up" as a sentence is just so infantile. It's like conversing with a 7 year old.

Getting blocked because you didn’t read 42 pages of a post before commenting!

BIossomtoes · 25/02/2024 19:21

There are some posters who think they’re paraphrasing you but actually come up with some bizarre bastardisation of what you said. No i don’t mean that at all, I meant precisely what I said. Ffs!

Puzzlefactor · 25/02/2024 19:22

Posts that do this..quote the OP

ALunchbox · 25/02/2024 19:24

' what's your AIBU?' Why does it even remotely matter?
