What's your MN Niggle

Mine is when the thread is something along the lines of "what's your favourite dinner?" Or "Worst holiday you've ever been on?" And OP replies to every single post!

OP posts:

wallybobs · 25/02/2024 18:15

Bloody poems/songs that posters make up on the back of a thread. I just can't read them.

@wallybobs I've been on MN since 2007 and I've never seen that. When was the last one you saw?

LifeofBrienne · 25/02/2024 19:27

@Heartofglass83 @Maddy70That’s what ‘see all’ the OP’s posts is for - easy to check whether she’s LTB already, or the stomach ache was diagnosed as ovarian cancer or many other reasons why your well thought advice might be redundant.

People who reply with "place marking"

I really dislike the phrase “give your head a wobble” I see it often on MN but have never heard it in real life.

Also roll my eyes when someone replies along the lines of “what did they say when you to spoke to them about it?” Clearly they’ve not spoken to whoever, that’s why they’re posting on MN!

Edited

Well you won't unless you're a Geordie and then an older Geordie.

Mines people who bump ancient threads. Which ties in with not reading the full thread posts after that.

Heartofglass83 · 25/02/2024 19:34

Typo! I meant bollocked 🤣

Highlighta · 25/02/2024 19:34

The love of everything French.

Yes, the French stuff is weird.

When people don't read all OP's posts, see that the situation has been resolved like hours (or even days 😂) ago, and respond to the original question as if that's remotely helpful anymore.

I have a thread running at the moment where this exact thing is happening, and other posters are coming on to say "OP has updated, it's been and gone, read her posts", yet it's still going ..... 🤷‍♀️😂

I saw that thread.

You were endlessly patient

LuckyMum1989 · 25/02/2024 19:42
  1. When the OP has realised that they've approached something wrong, and acknowledge it / provide additional requested info, but the pile-on continues telling her how wrong she's been. I admit I often don't RTFT if longer than a few pages, but at least click See All and read the OPs responses or updates! And if she has accepted her error, let that be enough!
  1. When someone is asking how to deal with a situation positively and the response is just LTB or to go NC. I have seen a few threads where I think that is actually warranted. I worry that some posters might light the touchpaper to their own lives/relationships/friendships when there is likely another course of action - based on a raft of responses of people who don't know the people involved. Forgiveness and seeking reconciliation is so underrated on MN! And some people seem to be seeking how to save a relationship only to be told not to bother! (That's not to say that LTB or NC is never the right way... but my opinion is it's a bit over-prescribed by MNers!)
PTSDBarbiegirl · 25/02/2024 19:43

Posters attempting to sound official and academic demanding, "can you link to research/evidence etc......". No I bloody can't, do your own research!!

LuckyMum1989 · 25/02/2024 19:43

When someone has a list that says point 1, and then point 2 is also point 1. 🤣🤣🤣 don't know what happened there!

The same posters posting over and over again with threads in a similar vein (often with several usernames) in which the replies then fawn all over said poster despite their refusal to actually do anything to help themselves out of their situations and have an excuse for everything.

Sound familiar?

Oh, yes; there are only so many times a person can come back with, "Yes, but..." or words to that effect.

I decided the OP was her own worst enemy and unwatched.

Puzzlefactor · 25/02/2024 19:46

Posts with friends A , B, C, D. I get lost after the first paragraph.

I don't think it's fair to single out one particular poster.

Lumiodes · 25/02/2024 19:49

When a thread moves on significantly from the point where I posted, and there’s no way to jump back to my last post and continue reading from there. So I have to search through pages to find my post.

At the moment I’m pissed off that that the Thanks feature hasn’t taken off.

Though of course it may just be that my posts don’t inspire gratitude 😁

But I am committed, and I will carry on thanking in the hope that it catches on.

Have a look at any thread where trans people are mentioned.

A more specific example would be useful...
