I've just read that first thread. DD still remembers the locust incident from her birthday.

I did an inventory of my cardigan and coatigan collection over the weekend - I have eighteen of various weights, colours, and styles. I don't know whether to laugh or cry about this.

DDClancy · 25/04/2024 19:10

HildaTablet · 26/04/2024 11:02

I was out late last night and have just seen the sad news about Tillly. Thank you for letting us know, @DDClancy, and my sympathies to her family. She was a witty member of this thread whose posts impressed me with her courage, even when she was clearly facing great challenges.

Penguinsa · 26/04/2024 13:58

Think will go swimming tonight. I had tetanus and typhoid vaccines on Wednesday which have made me fluish but hopefully will settle soon. Then Saturday have an art gallery, drinks and dinner which will be nice.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Poddingtonpeace · 26/04/2024 17:51

I found out from Mr Google today that there are categorically no countries in the world that start with W. What is Wales then? A cowshed?

MissConductUS · 26/04/2024 18:14

Welcome, @Poddingtonpeace, and thanks for sharing your calming internet search news. How exactly did you word the search? Wales came right up for me with

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=country+names+starting+with+w

I haven't seen the ducks in a bit, which is a shame as I've been carrying food for them. I did spot this large group (a family, perhaps) sunning themselves on a log. I'm still a bit achy from the surgery, so I expect to take it easy this weekend.

DS has gone to Boston to visit some friends from uni, so it's just DH, myself and the kitties at home.

@Poddingtonpeace Could the info you found be referring to the fact that no UN member countries begin with W?

Helping my mum with oncology appt and re-ordering medication after lunch today. Baby just dozed off. Toddler playing quietly atm. 🤷‍♀️
Going to get toddler out for a walk, I think.

Penguinsa · 28/04/2024 00:22

Hope it went ok with your Mum Havoc lovely of you to help.

Went swimming yesterday but was still dizzy from vaccines and big rash and swam 60 lengths with pool spinning and felt worse after. Rested today then went to a drinks, art gallery tour and 3 course dinner with people from old university which was lovely. And one guy there asked me if I was the same age as a woman he had come with who was 18 years younger than me. 🤣

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/04/2024 00:35

Awww Penguinsa, that's a nice compliment. ☺️
Event sounds nice. How was the food? What was served?

Planted mustard greens with Havoc in the garden last night. Was Havoc's first time gardening. Took a few pics. 😃 Soccer was this morning. Class is only 45 mins or so, but Havoc was ready to go to the playground's swings after about a half hour. To be fair, we were early, so coach kicked the ball around with Havoc 1:1 for about 10-15mins first. Been raining most of the day here. Have just had a bit of an early dinner, so a walk would be in order now. Havoc wants to go out in the car.

Penguinsa · 28/04/2024 01:02

That's lovely to garden with Havoc.

Food was very good, there was a choice of 2 starters and 2 mains, I had the ham hock starter which came with pistachio toast and apple puree and was very nice, alternative was soup. I had mushroom and celeriac wellington for main. Alternative was beef wellington. Then dessert was Bakewell tart with cream and honeycomb with dessert wine which was the best of all 3 courses. DH had beef wellington.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/04/2024 02:57

That dinner sounds very nice, Penguinsa! 😋

Still raining here and feels a bit sticky. Had to go to Costco, so haven't been for a walk yet. Going to make pancakes first. Was disappointed that Costco was out of pistachio spread. Will see if they have it online. Amazon if I'm desperate.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/04/2024 05:43

Penguinsa, sorry I forgot to directly comment back re your kind words. Thank you.☺️
My mum's appt went well. Everything is steady. I like her oncologist.
Havoc wanted to go to the garden tonight , but with the rain I wasn't keen on mud as super tired and just don't want to add to my chores too much. Iykwim
Promised as soon as rain stops. 😄🌧️
Didn't go for a walk. Made delicious coconut pancakes and ate with maple syrup, banana, blackberries and pecans. Made a decaf latte as well. It was all very satisfying. 😋😃

MissConductUS · 28/04/2024 11:17

It's been quiet here with DS away in Boston. It reminds me of the years when we were empty nesters while both of the kids were at uni at the same time.

Penguinsa, it's pretty normal to feel rubbish after you've had a couple of vaccinations. It's good news in a way. They've fooled your immune system into thinking that you are sick and it's responding.

DD has sent out here B list wedding invitations. We'll see on our Zoom call tonight how many have responded. We did these by email, using the proofs from the printed ones.

I was on another thread yesterday, where everyone was slagging off the dire, awful selection of cookies and biscuits available in the US compared to the UK. So, while at the posh Italian supermarket, I took these pictures and posted them on the thread.

Ohhh MissC !... those pictures have brought back a lot of happy memories for me ! 😅.

I use to live in Italy and have munched my way through a lot of those packets in my homesick moments 🤣🤣!

Boring dinner for us this evening...
2 chicken breasts ...roasted in oven with seasoning....and...chips and beans !

I was not in the mood to do a mini roast chicken dinner.

It was a full a hole meal ..instead of a gourmet effort meal !

Cherry yoghurt for pudding .

bizzey · 28/04/2024 20:20

I think that should be ...a hole filler meal ...that is what I was trying to say..

I say it alot ..to the boys ...it's not great ...but it will fill the hole !

bizzey · 28/04/2024 20:25

Had a meeting with someone at mam's house in Friday about her Will.

Even more confused now 😅.

Looks like we have to do a trust will as some beneficiaries are disabled and on benefits.

Don't want to go with just this one price ...so now need to ring around again and ask about trust Wills

Had a good chat and laugh with Mam as always , and feel reassured in other things

I have even had to buy more box files for all her paperwork !

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/04/2024 21:01

Hope it's not too complicated, Bizzey. I see a lot of threads where beans are mentioned and discussed as part of a meal, as you have or school dinners. The only time I eat canned baked beans (with molasses, can't stand tomato sauce beans) is with weiners which I'd slice and fry then add a can of beans and warm through (wieners & beans). A slice of toast or garlic toast alongside so times, too. It's rare though.

I'm really having trouble with my contact lenses lately.
Even though they are clean, one always seems blurry. The dailies are fine, but it's the monthlies that seem to give me trouble. 🤷‍♀️

Penguinsa · 28/04/2024 21:16

Thanks Havoc Glad your Mums appointment went well and pancakes sound great.

Good to hear vaccine response is normal MissC its getting a lot better today. That seems a good selection of biscuits MissC We do have a crazy amount of biscuits here of all different types though normally MN is very disapproving of anything with sugar in. Good to hear the wedding prep is going well.

Bizzey I remember the coop mentioning a trust will and I may need to get one of those with DS though I didn't completely get it, like would pensions go into there and what if others left money. And you needed 2 people to administer over 18 though now DD is over 18 we could do that. It was £400 anyway from coop including the £150 for the will itself so not too bad but didn't know if there would be fees as well.

Been swimming again and felt just tired which was a big improvement on last time so could get to 93 lengths, jacuzzi and steam room. There's an Asian lady there who never speaks to anyone normally who started talking to me, it was really lovely. Though I felt bad having to leave as we were in the steam room as she is fine for hours in there, I can manage about 10 minutes and I'm not even supposed to do that.

Had a roast chicken dinner and DH made a cake. When we went swimming DH said DS I have left you 2 slices of cake and you can have more when we are back but DS appears to have found DHs hiding place and had 3 slices of cake. He needs the calories. Currently having tea and a shortbread biscuit. DD out with boyfriend.

bizzey · 28/04/2024 21:31

@Penguinsa from what I have understood so far is...
Their inheritance goes in a trust and therefore does not affect any means calculated benefits.

If DB needed money for a new wheelchair/electric wheelchair /better mobility car (which he will need sooner or later) the money is there for him and he will not have to use it for living expenses due to loosing disability benefits for being over the savings threshold..

I know on lots of threads , others thing you shouldn't have savings and be on benefits...but eventually he will need a mobility scooter and a car to get it in.

He will need that bit of money from mam and dad x
