Hi all, good to hear everyone's news.

Bizzey you have been productive! We have a suction cup towel rail that keeps falling off the wall........
Things have been difficult this last week - my dad was taken ill suddenly and had to have major surgery to save his life. My parents live 2.5 hours away so I have had to rush up to them, now back again but to go back up at the weekend. He is on the mend but it is slow progress with some setbacks and he is not coping well and is a very bad patient.......

Didn't go to ride mini train yesterday. Went to one of the local mtns for last day of the season to sled/play in the snow instead.

I took a zip-lock bag of dry cat food with me today when I went to walk around the reservoir, and they came and ate it. I think I've made friends for life. I don't think the cats are happy about it. Cats don't like sharing. They're like toddlers that way.

Do your cats know what you are doing when you go out with some of their food? Maybe keep a small bag in your car instead? 😁

I’ve just spent a few days trying to sort out cupboards and books in the living room. It looks fairly tidy now, but I’ll buy more books and it will start again. I started to make a record of the books in one of my collections. I realise now that I’ve doubled up on at least four of them. Ah well, one downstairs and the other upstairs!

Sad news, Sprouts. I hope the surgery will be successful.

The post from Tilllly was on the stage 4 thread in life limiting on 12th saying she was being moved to the hospice and on oxygen and says they think it's lymphangitic carcinomatos. There's been nothing since and hope wherever Tilllly is now she isn't suffering.

Cautiously optimistic for nice weather today. I just went out the garden door to see if our resident robin was lurking. He (or she? hard to tell) was, and zoomed down expectantly for the suet sprinkles we buy just for them. Sometimes the pair appears but it was just one today. They have us extremely well-trained by now and follow us round the garden when anything's being done, hoping for some nice juicy worms.

I think DS may have made his first sound since hospital. I can't be sure but DH went out to the shop and Floof was headed downstairs and I heard DS entering the living room and I shouted down Papa has gone to the shop and Floof is on his way down and it sounded like there was a uhh-humm back coming from DS. DD is also here but other direction and she just speaks.

Penguinsa that's amazing! I hope he continues to progress.

Thanks Sprouts though DD has just woken up - she's a bit unwell and said it was her not DS. 😢

Havoc, I snuck a cup of their food out of the house while they were sleeping, so they are unaware.

Penguinsa, the vocalization is very encouraging. The poor lad went through such a tough time last year. Perhaps he's finding some peace now.

I went out to the reservoir to feed the ducks again this morning, but they were nowhere to be seen. There were men in high viz, as a building across the street from the reservoir is starting some major renovations that will take a very long time.

I just received a phone call from one of the hospital nurses asking who did my pre-op physical. I really wanted to tell her to look at my chart, as they have that information right there, but I gave her the name anyway.

It wasn't DS who said uh-humm it was DD it turned out MissC so still nothing from DS but he is wandering around downstairs more and its since I got a TV licence so I am hoping he's watching TV. He watches on silent with subtitles so its hard to tell. He's definitely getting better slowly but was so excited when I thought he had made a reply to me but it was DD. She was half asleep here as she's got a bug but when she woke I checked with her and she said it was her.

Had paella for lunch and half a chocolate chip shortbread so will be going swimming tonight.

Penguinsa, watching with subtitles is interesting. Do you think the tv sounds bother ds? Are you able to gauge his reading ability?

Very tired here. Need to go to sleep once dc are asleep, but having trouble winding down.
Need to go to accountant to sign tax docs today.

Boring admin day today for me .

Lots of phone calls and form filling and stuff.

I need a secretary !! 😅..

But my new food compost /rubbish bin was delivered today ..

Can't use it for another 2 months...but I might start getting to the indoor bin part of it for now so I get in the habit of it.

Not sure where they are going to go yet 😕.

Or what happens on bin day ...we have a communal area where our rubbish goes ..(which is really handy when you sometimes have lots of stuff to put out and no one knows it is all yours. 🤣🤣 !)

I think I will be a little sheep 🐑 🐑 on the first collection date ..and just wait and see what others have done /put their new bins !

We don't have wheelie bins or anything...black bags go on the hedge and recycling bags go on the floor ..

bizzey, bins and collections are very exciting. Our paper recycling went out the morning, and our bulk pickup is Friday. We're going to put out an old stationary bike and see if they take it or not.

I found the ducks in a shallow part of the reservoir yesterday and fed them more dry cat food. If you look carefully, you can see trout swimming beneath them.

I have more boring bird-related news. Today, I had my first crane sighting in a month or so. Now that the reservoir has been restocked with fish, he's back, and I suspect I'll see him more regularly.

The hospital rang a bit ago. They want me to turn up at 9:00 instead of 8:00, which is fine, but it means I'll also be getting home later. I can't have anything to eat or drink after midnight except a few sips of water to take my medications in the morning. I might cheat with a quarter cup of black coffee,
