Hilda, that's an absolute horror! 😮I can't suggest anything as you've done it all. I guess it's just diligence now? Am now remembering a neighbour who ended up with bedbugs after bringing home something from a thrift store (a blanket, I think). Also, weren't "flea markets" so named due to fleas in Paris market? (Must google). 🤓
Lemons, glad you had a nice Easter. ☺️
Isn't it amazing watching their personalities develope? Hope things will be ok with work. 🤞

HildaTablet · 12/04/2024 13:53

I know havoc, it’s the absolute pits….but at least we haven’t had the fleas or bedbugs. Gotta look on the bright side, I suppose!

Hope all is well with you and the two little ones.

DH had to buy some new suits recently because we discovered that moths had eaten holes in his old ones. He doesn't wear them for work and hasn't in years, so who knows how long ago the damage was done. And I don't see moths in the house, ever, so it remains a bit of a mystery.

I did see the ducks today at a distance. As soon as they spotted me, they swam over to me. Someone must be feeding them. I think I'll start bringing something to feed them with, too. I saw a woman feeding ducks on the Hudson River last year, and they were mad for whatever she was throwing in the water for them. I asked her what it was, and she told me it was dry cat food. Apparently, it's ideal for ducks as well. I have lots of dry cat food at home, so I'll bring some for the ducks next week.

I've had a lazy day today. We have been swimming which DS loves.

curry for tea tonight

Lemonsandlemonade · 13/04/2024 18:10

DS just made me chuckle whilst in the bath look mummy I'm swimming like a walrus.

He is only 2

mathanxiety · 13/04/2024 18:35

Spent the morning cleaning the bathroom and kitchen and compiling another bag for donation.

I emptied the freezer yesterday evening and dumped a few unidentifiable leftover items. I need to get better at marking contents and date on bags and containers when I squirrel away leftovers.

I also went through my stash of candles and binned several that were on their last legs.

Spring has sprung here, so it's time to do a final wash of the winter coats and sweaters and put them in storage, and start the switcheroo to lighter clothes. I bought some cedar blocks to put with the sweaters to ward off moths (I found the odd small hole in one or two of them last autumn).

Two DCs are descending on us in the next ten days so I have to fish out the spare bedding too.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/04/2024 21:40

Math, you are on a roll! 👍
Lemons, that made me chuckle, too. 😃
Havoc just "shusshed" me. Paddington is on tv. Mummy mustn't talk....🤷‍♀️
(although, I am allowed to sing along to the theme song)
Have just eaten a platter of grapes, strawberries, raspberries, cheese and bagel with pb&j. Have got my high-test latte as well. 😂

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/04/2024 21:42

p.s.
Lemons, your lazy day and mine are quite different. It's 1:40mand I'm still in pj's. 😮🤫

Penguinsa · 13/04/2024 21:44

Just had fajitas with prawns or rather I just had fajitas with peppers, cream, cheese, onion and Floof had some prawns. He was delighted with the switch to prawn.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/04/2024 22:08

Life of Riley, Floof! 👍

Penguinsa · 14/04/2024 00:13

Yes Havoc until they ran out then we got the look of fear of no more prawns and the warning tail alert.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 14/04/2024 01:22

Sounds like Floof has you trained well, Penguinsa. 😂

halfpasteleven · 14/04/2024 08:32

I love Floofs white "socks" and collar @Penguinsa
He looks very distinguished.

MissConductUS · 14/04/2024 16:35

Math, We're also turning to spring here. DH has just cleaned and put away the big humidified we run in the winter, and I'm getting out the lighter clothes as well.

Penguinsa, I don't think I'd share my prawns with the cats. We have treats just for them which I don't help myself to.

There are a few bits of boring wedding news. DD's dress is having it's final alterations now and we have to come up with a way to get it home from her university town. She'll be coming home to meet with the photographer at some point, but thinks her car will be too full to lay the dress flat. The shop could ship it, but I'm not wild about that idea. I may have to make a trip up there to fetch it.

The Inn/hotel where the reception is being held had made a cock up with out room block. We reserved a suite for DD and five guest rooms for two nights. We're obligated to pay for the rooms if no one books them. Guests who have called to book them have been told they aren't available, as someone at the Inn put our names on all five rooms and marked them as booked. Some of them booked rooms outside of the block. Our wedding planner is working with them to move the guests into the block so that we don't have to pay for them. But they are now sold out for the Friday before the wedding, and most people have booked cheaper rooms elsewhere in the area. The Inn is very posh and very expensive.

We have a Zoom call with the planner and DD tonight at 5:00 to go over this and other problems that have to be sorted as the date gets closer. And I go in for surgery this Thursday, which is not something I'm looking forward to. I dislike going under GA, but it is what it is.

Thanks Havoc and Half

Hope the surgery goes well on Thursday MissC

We have just been to one of the Historic House gardens and had a lovely lunch there (smoked salmon, dill, spinach and cream cheese bagel, tea and lemon drizzle cake for me and DH had brioche with cheese, tomato and bacon warmed and tea and pear and blueberry cake and we brought slices of cake home for the children) and hours walk there. There were lots of baby lambs. Weather was nice so we could eat outside in a beautiful garden.

Penguinsa, what a lovely Sunday you're having! 😃

I've been up since 7:30am (thanks, Havoc) after just an hour of sleep since feeding baby at 5am and being unable to get to sleep right away. That was after getting to bed at 1am...
I'm on my 2nd latte with banana bread (choco chips & pecans; made last night).
Have vacuumed and got my bedding in the wash. Also washing mattress protector as the liquid tylenol Havoc spit up last weekend soaked through the sheet to it.
Havoc had a mysterious fever for a few days, but no other symptoms. (Maybe a bit sniffly, which made me wonder measles since there have been outbreaks although we're all fully vaccinated).
Gorgeous sunny day here. Have done mini workout. Will head out soon. Promised mini train. 🚂

Mumtobabyhavoc · 14/04/2024 17:58

Oh! Made pizza last night for dinner: pesto, crab, asparagus, red & yellow bell peppers, feta and a mix of cheeses from cheese tray (Gouda, cheddar, Swiss, Jack). It was a thing of beauty.💁‍♀️
Would have posted pic, but was afraid of contravening thread rules. 🫢

Penguinsa · 14/04/2024 20:10

Thanks Havoc That pizza sounds amazing like all your cooking. Have a nice day out.

DH has just planted the magnolia tree and immediately a little robin went on it but DH said it was camera shy. The robin comes every time we garden.

bizzey · 15/04/2024 19:19

I got myself overwhelmed with all the jobs and chores I need to do over the weekend ...so I did what I do best ....hide 😭!

Had a lot of admin and stuff ..and we'll just loads of overwhelming feelings and issues ...

But today I woke up anew ! (Who am I kidding!)

But today .....

Kitchen has been blasted ..
Chicken curry cooked
Crumble cooked ...(It is always a joke iny house that I never say what crumble it is ...they have to guess ...but ds knew it would have apricots in it as I had lots of tins of that in the cupboard!!)

Anyhow...apricot and peach crumble is made !

Diabetics look away now .....

As I added the tin juices and brown sugar over the top for a crusty finish 😁🤣!

Will come back in a bit ....got food delivery at door !

Penguinsa · 15/04/2024 19:22

Well done Bizzey on getting that all done.

Had my bone scan at hospital just a routine one and DH went to opticians and is now at piano and we have had homemade paella for dinner.

Lemonsandlemonade · 15/04/2024 19:25

Penguina Hope the scan went ok.

Pizza sounds amazing havoc

bizzey · 15/04/2024 20:01
