Thanks for the shout-out @Mumtobabyhavoc - I’m still intermittently lurking along here. Into my third week of some weird virus-y thing that isn’t Covid but started out as a shocking cold and has morphed into constant low-level nausea, stomach pain and headache, with a side-order of occasional lingering cold symptoms. So not feeling all that great. I’m ready for it to be over now.

On another note, that pie with green ketchup looks very interesting. A new one to me!

Penguinsa · 11/04/2024 11:46

Thanks Havoc Glad you had a good time in the snow. DH is back swimming with ear plugs, its OK at the moment but can decline suddenly.

Sorry you are ill Hilda

I checked my first post and seems to be on thread 3 in Sept 2020 about DS and the lovely Prok replies. Its about school and a covid case and they asked me to ask DS who sat next to him in a lesson and DS was 🤔no idea then why haven't they asked who sits to the side and I said well whose that another nameless person replies DS. An elephant could have been sitting next to him and he wouldn't have noticed.

Have jacket potatoes for lunch. As soon as I try to leave the room Floof goes in front of me and blocks the doorway.

A little uncharitable and unmotherly rant on its way from ...!!!!

As you all know...i am plodding my way through the mammoth task I have set myself...

Slowly , calmly and methodically...no rush...no stress...plod plod !!!

Well ds1 has asked if him and gf can come next weekend .

I said yes ...but the beds won't be ready and they will have to sleep in the sitting room (which they have always done !)

He wants to put the 2 spare single beds (that are covered in stuff !)
together to make a double!!

We had talked about it the last time he was here but I said it needed a lot of planning as the drawers in the beds needed sorting/emptying .

I feel bad about not welcoming him with open arms .....but I only saw him Easter weekend ....I am not missing him enough yet to need to desperately see him yet 🤣🤣🤣!!

I don't feel in a very nurturing mummy role at the moment 🤣🤣....I am a woman on a mission ...all be it a slow steady one !!

bizzey · 11/04/2024 13:45

My wardrobe is getting sorted today .

Piles of clothes on the bed in piles .

Keep..
Charity...
Maybe...

Unfortunately the maybe pile is bigger than the charity pile !! 😯 🤣

bizzey · 11/04/2024 14:07

I know my little rant sounds silly !

Bit I hate being put under pressure to finish a job/s .

I always need to do things in my time 🤣

bizzey · 11/04/2024 14:21

Something else to keep you all enthralled!!

I have bought these adhesive strips things to put things on the walls to save having to use the drill....which I am a complete uncoordinated weakling with !

Think the toilet roll holder is going to be the first victim .

It is already an adhesive one anyhow...

At least if it falls off , I won't be broken hearted if it breaks 🤣🤣

bizzey · 11/04/2024 14:24

I buy all these wonderful things ...then I am too scared to use them !

Though I do have my new toy in use at the moment....

It is a special chopping board that one side is different and it speeds up the defrosting of items .

I have put some Salmon on and I am timing it !

bizzey · 11/04/2024 16:12

OMG 😳 😳!!

My defrosting board worked !!!

I even kept it in the packaging even though it said it would take longer.

2 hours later ...I have got defrosted salmon .

Not sure how long it took really ...as I only remembered to check it just now .

Now to decide what to cook !

I think it will have to be pasta and salmon....as I hadn't really planned this very well 🤣🤣

bizzey · 11/04/2024 16:16

Wardrobe is half heartily completed!

I do have a full bag for charity though.

I think I am in the mood to see what is hidden under the beds now ...

Wish me luck 🤣🤣🤣

bizzey · 11/04/2024 16:17

Sorry for my constant updates ...

I am finding them very therapeutic though 😍!

heldinadream · 11/04/2024 16:22

@bizzey enjoying your posts! Can you tell me about the adhesive strips? Got a link for them? We're moving house soon and I foresee a million uses for such a miraculous thing...😍Thank you kindly.

bizzey · 11/04/2024 16:38

@heldinadream ..I get nearly all my " gadgets " from a company called Must Have Ideas

Never had a problem with them and quick 2/3 day delivery ... working day type of thing .

I still haven't attached the toilet roll holder !

I will report back on that .

A couple of things I wouldn't buy again .

But most of the stuff I am really happy with .

The defrosting board has to be the one to make most excited though...!!

I really know how to rock and roll 🤣🤣🤣

bizzey · 11/04/2024 16:47

Oooffff !!

It is sticky 🤣🤣..

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/04/2024 19:39

@heldinadream take a look at Command strips.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/04/2024 19:55

@HildaTablet sorry to hear you're not feeling well! Symptoms like that for three weeks is a bit worrying (and exhausting). Maybe see your doctor at this point? 🤒
Bizzey, living up to your name, I see! 🐝
Penguinsa. Hope hubby continues to be ok for swimming.
Miss, lovely curator you are. 🥰

Took Havoc to school today. Luckily we arrived fairly early as "class full" sign was put up shortly after.
Feeling tired and planning on a 2nd latte once I can detach baby...🤣
The other thread I'm on has a discussion about moths. Do any of you have trouble with them in your homes?

Penguinsa · 11/04/2024 20:00

We have quite a few moths Havoc not sure why, don't think they are causing any damage but they are a bit annoying. Though Floof finds them good fun.

Having salmon, new potatoes and tender stem broccoli. DD is out with her boyfriend for dinner.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 11/04/2024 21:25

I saw the eclipse proper! Full totality. It was absolutely incredible and I'm so glad I got to see it. Been knackered all week recovering from the long journey both ways, but at least we didn't get stuck in any of the huge traffic jams.

Sorry, that was a bit too exciting for this thread, but I'm still smiling every time I see photos of it.

Other than that there really is absolutely nothing of interest happening in my life, which is just fine.

MissConductUS · 11/04/2024 21:28

Welcome, @heldinadream, and thanks for delurking. I always wonder how many silent lurkers we have.

I can vouch for Command Strips. They come in a wide variety of sizes and shapes for different jobs. I have several packages of them tucked away in the junk drawer.

You can get them on Amazon in the UK.

Thanks @MissConductUS nice to be here. I delurked a few years ago (gosh, it really is!) when my daughter was about to have a baby and I was feeling very stressed about it because covid meant I couldn't spend time with her or be at the birth. These threads were enormously valuable at that time.
Baby girl is 3 and a half now and totally gorgeous!

bizzey · 11/04/2024 23:21

@heldinadream .. how lovely to have another little one here !

Love hearing all there stories .

Toilet roll holder is in position...
and toilet roll is on it . .. !

Count down begins 😍🤣🤣🤣😳

bizzey · 12/04/2024 00:51

Not fallen off yet !

Even though I did forget to hold it in place for for x amount of time !

bizzey · 12/04/2024 00:53

Though to be fair ....it has not been used yet !

I might have to put a sign up sy it is for decorative use only.....not to be used. 😁😁😁

Lemonsandlemonade · 12/04/2024 05:49

Hi all thanks for the shout out Havoc. How are little havoc and baby havoc doing?

All is ok here we had a super Easter with lovely day trips and lots of fun, we enjoyed a castle trip which was super.

A new head had started at my job.

My work is facing redundancy which is very worrying. Everyone says I will be ok but I know my job will change with the restructure regardless.

DS is growing and developing into such a funny little boy, we had his parents evening in pre school and they really understood him. He is as sharp as bee. His memory scares me. 😂

HildaTablet · 12/04/2024 08:50

Don't mention moths to me, havoc - we are plagued by them 🤯No idea how exactly they arrived, as we had no problem in this house for years, but I strongly suspect a rug DH brought back from a work trip. Most of my woollen clothes have had to be thrown out as they were full of holes. We've since had three (yes, three) specialist treatments where the entire house is vacuumed for hours and then a kind of smoke-bomb thing is set off that's meant to kill all moths dead.

Yesterday I killed three moths 🙇‍♀️

Now I store anything woollen in sealed plastic storage bags, we replaced our woollen carpets, there are sticky-traps round the house, and if I find anything I think might be moth-attacked, it goes in the freezer in a bag for a week or two to kill any eggs. Once you have clothes-moths you never get rid of them, unfortunately.
