Sorry you also got hit by hail Bizzey.

Glad party was good Uman

Floof has been very hyper as the click and collect clothes including 2 tags with string and his eyes have glazed over as he is playing. About 2 hours playing with 3 of us so far.

I have some new light pink fluffy slippers.

strawberriesarenot · 24/03/2024 00:11

I bought a packet of runner bean seeds, the variety is Galaxy and they are supposed to be stringless. I have no idea where I will plant them unless they will grow up the wall of the house.
There has been an argument in the kitchen over the making of cold mashed potato and marmite brown bread sandwiches. The Irish half of the family thinks marmite is impossible and should be replaced with finely grated cheese.
The daughter has sent me a whatsapp with 3 xxxs. This is unusual. 1 is customary.
I was so gratified I bought her a necklace of small bright beads. It was very cheap, so it won't matter if she loses it (she probably will) or gives it away (she certainly will, if she doesn't lose it- nothing stays with that girl).
There is (since the sandwiches) no bread left. I had better put a loaf on in the breadmaker for morning. (Panasonic, year 11, still going strong.)

Sorry for the lack of chat, off to bed now.

Penguinsa re hairdye, the short version is don't use it, you are one of those who could die (that's not a typo)

Tilllly · 24/03/2024 03:47

She was one big mudfest after

Uman, I loved Top Gun 2!!!!

Tillly, doggo is adorable!
Penguinsa, your new slippers sound nice! I love slippers even though I don't wear them often lately.

I'm quite excited to report the coconut cake is delicious! I think I'll order one for Easter. 😋😋😋

MissConductUS · 24/03/2024 11:28

Welcome, @strawberriesarenot, and thanks so much for sharing your calming and mundane gardening, sandwich making and jewelry news. I typically plant some flowers and veg on our large second story deck. We're a bit out in the woods, so if I plant most things in the regular garden the bloody deer and other wildlife eat everything. I'm considering skipping the deck garden this year as I have so much else going on.

Your dog is adorable, Tilllly. One of our two cats is named Daisy. I don't post her picture often; she's a bit shy. The small ginger cat whose picture I do post more is named Mingus.

We received an email from the wedding reception venue yesterday. They encouraged us to use the valet parking and revealed that there will be a cocktail hour during which we can try all of the appetizer options our daughter will have to choose from in addition to the starters and mains. This wasn't mentioned in their previous communication, and I am pleased we'll be able to give DD some advice on the appetizer choices.

According to my high-tech weather station, we had 2.54 inches of rain yesterday. It's over now, and thankfully, it will be a bit warmer today. When I got up this morning, it was -3C.

I'm off to the early church service shortly. Happy Palm Sunday to everyone! I promise lots of food pictures tonight or tomorrow.

Looking forward to the food pic MissC.!!

I am having a very lazy Sunday dinner today ...

Shop bought pie ...in oven..

Ready made mash ...in microwave

But I did open a bag of frozen veg and put it in a saucepan... boiling away ...

Ohh ...and I have some new wax melts ....well melting !
They smell amazing ...
In fact yesterday D's said how nice the kitchen smelt 😂😂

MissConductUS · 24/03/2024 15:29

Palm Sunday services at church were lovely. On my way home, I stopped and picked up some donuts to tide us over since we're skipping lunch in anticipation of the tasting, which starts at 2:00 and goes until 4:30.

I posted these pictures of the wedding reception venue last fall. Here they are again for the newcomers. It's an Episcopal Church (C of E in the US, more or less) Abbey and school that was converted into a posh hotel, spa, and event venue on a hill overlooking the Hudson River.

The kids are having a church wedding, so we're not going to use the arch for the ceremony, but the picture gives you a sense of the view. We toured when they were setting up for a wedding, so the tables you see set are in the old sanctuary, which they now call the ballroom. The room with the Latin scriptures is a smaller room where the rehearsal dinner will be. It was hand-painted by the nuns.

Hope the tasting is fab Miss enjoy!

I was a last minute substitute for reading the narrator’s part of the Passion Gospel today. At least I had no time to be nervous. I’m on the reading rota but wasn’t on the list for today, it is a long one!

Another productive spring day here. Been awake since 5:30am as DC4 had to leave at 6am for a show-jumping competition.

HildaTablet · 24/03/2024 16:14

It’s a beautiful venue, MissC. Also eagerly awaiting details of the food here (even more vicariously than I normally would, as I’m trying to lose some weight!).

MissConductUS · 24/03/2024 17:13

Thanks, Hilda and Helena. I've texted DD to suggest that we FaceTime her from the venue during the cocktail hour, and she's available and loves the idea.

I've had nothing to eat except two eggs this morning, so I'm eagerly awaiting it, too!

Daisy is too cute Tilllly.

The venue is so beautiful MissC, enjoy the tasting.

Hope your DC had success at the SJ Helena.

We always had runner beans growing in our garden when I was a child Strawberries. I remember picking them for dinner.

Lazy Sundays are the best Bizzey. Wish I was doing that.

I'm having a busy day and doing all those little cleaning jobs I usually ignore.

Penguinsa · 24/03/2024 23:07

Enjoy the tasting MissC

We had a Sunday roast then DH and I did 2.5 hours gardening, and then had a nice bath and a cookie dough cheesecake.

DD had dinner out with her boyfriend.

Penguinsa · 24/03/2024 23:08

Daisy is very cute Tilllly

A robin kept appearing when I was gardening.

MissConductUS · 24/03/2024 23:54

I have so many pictures! Here are a few - the chateaubriand with bearnaise sauce and puree of potatoes, the pan roasted chicken with mushroom risotto, two pictures of the shellfish crepe (opened and unopened) and the baby rack of lamb hors d'oeuvres. More later.

Everything was fabulous and the service was excellent. They even had a violin and viola playing Bach sonatas.

Lovely @MissConductUS 🥰 ❤️

Chateaubriand at my sons wedding last month, it was lovely

HildaTablet · 25/03/2024 09:25

That all looks very satisfactory, MissC! 🍽️😋

Penguinsa · 25/03/2024 09:29

That's great it all tasted fabulous MissC great pics.

Tilllly · 25/03/2024 13:36

My house is clean 😁

Penguinsa · 25/03/2024 13:45

A clean house is lovely Tilllly Its rather depressing how quickly the males in the house can trash that tidy and clean though. Floof is excused as he's too cute.

MissConductUS · 25/03/2024 14:40

Well done, Tilllly. I did some cleaning last night after we got back from the venue.

Thanks, Hilda and Penguinsa. Our Zoom call with DD went over the 30-minute limit talking about the tasting that we got cut off and had to continue on FaceTime.

Here are a few more pictures from yesterday. That's the Ballroom, two sets of cake samples, and two of our favorite hors d'oeuvres - coconut fried shrimp (prawns?) with a Dijon mustard sauce and miniature Beef Wellingtons. Those are both going on the list, along with the baby rack of lamb. The Ballroom gets lots of lovely natural light through the tall windows, which I assume used to be stained glass.

MissC those samples look absolutely delicious. I am so jealous of your tastings. I bet you can’t wait for the wedding.
I’ve been looking round for food for a buffet for a drop-in day on my birthday (it’s only in October but it’s giving me something to look forward to). I got 6 bottles of fizz delivered the other day, I’ve got to put them away and then remember where they are!
Tilllly I think it must be lovely to have a clean house, I really must sort out a cleaner myself.
Bizzey thank goodness the wheelchair went OK, apart from the fact I didn’t have a coat on. The last time I wore my coat was in December and it had slipped off the coat rack onto the floor and was so dusty and crumpled. Luckily it was washable, so that’s where it went when we got home. Thankfully we made the journey mostly between the showers, but it was very cold.
i have refilled my tablet dispensers for the next two weeks, read some of my new books and sorted dinner (a frozen Cook meal for me).

Umanresources · 25/03/2024 16:47

Ooh forgot to say Tilllly I got my New Chalet School club Journal, plus a couple of back issues, so interesting. I’m so glad you mentioned them. I wish I’d discovered them years ago! Better late than never.

Tilllly · 25/03/2024 17:48

@Umanresources
Oh I'm so glad! It's a thriving group with lots of us in it. All very normal people as well.😂
