@Umanresources

Wow. Glad the pot holes are done.

@Penguinsa

No £16 for just the colour. My own colour. I did not bother with the cut but will go back soonish.

I got my phone sorted and he has increased data to unlimited. I will now be paying half what I pay in top ups!

Just left the podiatrist place and feet feel good!

He told me to get a metal file and file upwards not across. Good luck to me finding a metal file!
Q cost £50 for the treatment but we'll worth as I am diabetic and he tested whether I could feel things in my ffeeet and also checked ? Respiratory.

Tilllly · 22/03/2024 11:57

I have found a cleaner, she starts Monday

I am so relieved because I have been struggling so much and DH is working full-time and having to run me around and he's also crap at cleaning, so I didn't want to ask him to do more

Penguinsa · 22/03/2024 12:16

That's brilliant Tilllly I got a cleaner for the first time during my chemo, just as one off cleans but it made a huge difference and explained to her I was in chemo and they were so considerate re infection risk. We still have them about once every two months to do the downstairs and upstairs bathrooms and its brilliant when they have been. My DH was sceptical at first but completely converted, he is quite untidy, prone to keeping everything and oblivious to it and before they come he sorts it. He helped with cleaning once and used vinegar but he does so much else like cooking and food shopping. Really hope it will help.

That's still good Death My hairdresser is pretty pricey post covid but I don't go that often and thankfully hair is almost all brown still so can just use the odd bit of dye. I am allergic to quite a lot of dyes so hope that lasts.

Sledging sounds wonderful Havoc Yes its difficult to swim with very little ones unless there are two of you and even then its not that easy. I went a lot with mine from when they were both 4ish to 11 and that was great once - joined a club with a kids club as well so sometimes they went to that and I could swim and jacuzzi /spa alone or sometimes they came with me. Lots of the other school kids came as well in the summer especially as it had an outdoor pool so easy to do playdates there.

Silkies are very noisy atm, not sure if they are laying eggs but apparently the whole street needs to know about it.

Umanresources · 22/03/2024 12:34

Havoc I was in Toronto in 1976, probably before most of you were born! I haven't been back since either. One of my friends from the UK who I met over there came to stay here with our boyfriends at the time and we went to stay with them at her home in Cornwall. That was summer 77 and then they went to live in Quebec. We married our boyfriends of the time and I have photos of the day we all met her husband to be at our favourite disco (as it was then). They are still married, which is great. I've never been back since though. I'd love to fly to Toronto and then go across Canada on a train. I can't imagine a flight taking 5 hours to cross a country. It only takes just over 2 1/2 hours to get to my son's and he lives in another country!
Tillly I need to find a cleaner, as there is so much I can't do and I hate asking my OH and daughter as they* *work full time as well. I keep looking on Facebook for local recommendations, but I've not yet had the courage to ask anyone. I'll have to keep looking.

I'm going to my auntie's 90th birthday party tomorrow. In some ways I'm dreading it because I'm not comfortable being in crowded places, especially as I'm using a wheelchair at the moment. I feel horribly embarrassed about it and my OH is a terrible driver. He nearly tipped me out last time we went out 😂

Tilllly · 22/03/2024 12:38

@Mumtobabyhavoc
Thank you- 🌞 has arrived nicely in time for my washing to be pegged out

@Penguinsa i'm sure it will. She's a young single parent and she works part time in a restaurant so it fits in nicely for her while her daughter is at school. She's not a professional cleaner, but she cleans her own house and I feel better because it's helping her out as well.

@Umanresources just ask around, I asked the manager of my local restaurant, thinking that they might have cleaners there that would do it and she said one of the staff was looking for additional work
don't think I know her in that sense of a mate, but she's local and I see her all the time and she's a nice young girl so that's how it works for me. I prefer that to hiring a cleaning company

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/03/2024 14:32

Uman, yes, definitely a lot will have changed. It would be nice if you could do another visit. I'd love to go to Quebec. It's really the only other province that interests me to live in (aside from the politics and other issues I won't get into). How nice you still have those photos. Yes, the country is huge. I've been all over BC, and seen a bit of the Yukon, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario, but only just scratched the surface. There is so much more to see.

Tillly, so glad a few things are humming along. It seems really difficult to find a good cleaner. There are a lot of threads here about it.

I've been awake since 5:30 and it's 7:30 now. Have had 3 1/2 hrs sleep. Just leaned over the tub and washed my hair. Should've done that last night when I had a bath, but was too tired. It was really bugging me though because I think I've become sensitive to the hair products I use. Havoc will likely wake up soon and I really need to get some sleep. Ugh. 😩

MissConductUS · 22/03/2024 18:20

Tillly, getting a cleaner was a great choice. I hope you found a good one and that your pain meds are sufficient.

Winter refuses to leave here. It was -5C here this morning, and we may get a bit of snow tonight, then rain all day tomorrow. At least it won't be all snow tomorrow.

We've received 50 replies for the wedding out of about 80 invitations. We requested replies by April 20th, so that's good. I'm really looking forward to the tasting on Sunday. DD has asked for lots of pictures of the meals, so I'll have those to post here.

I took this photo as the ducks were swimming towards me. I was surprised they were willing to get that close. Perhaps they recognize me now.

MissC they're really easy to semi tame, if you feed them. If people are feeding them, they'll see a human and come over.

Penguinsa have you seen the thread in Style and Beauty about hairdye/PPD? If not, you should read it.

Congratulations onghe cleaner Tilllly that'll make life easier.

I'm procrastinating. I should be doing something useful but I'm just not in the mood.

mathanxiety · 22/03/2024 19:36

Lovely duck photo, MissC.

Tilllly glad you found a cleaner.

Uman out of the car or the chair? Very careless either way.

I woke to snow this morning, and also the realisation that I have lost my driver's license. I ordered a duplicate online and it will be delivered within 15 business days. At least I don't have to make an appointment and go to get another photo done. The cost was basically a token charge. I need to check my credit score when i get home this afternoon in case the DL was lost when I was out some time and someone tried using it for any reason.

Tilllly · 22/03/2024 19:48

I have spent most of the day on the phone trying to get some holiday insurance. Most companies just declined to ensure me but one has given me a quote.

10 days in Malta £3009.....

Wow Tillly, that’s extortionate. I hope you manage to find something a lot cheaper!

Umanresources · 22/03/2024 21:33

@mathanxiety He’s not good with the chair, but both of us laugh a lot about it, as long as there are no other people around. Other people make me feel embarrassed though.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/03/2024 05:36

Tillly, it was the same for my mum. We stopped buying it when we traveled together because her ext health had out of country coverage. Unsure about now, though.
Math, we sometimes get snow this late, too. Have had it in April before.
Mallards, sounds like you need some down time.

Took Havoc and baby out by car together for the first time. Havoc was good about walking with me and baby in stroller. Went out for cake to celebrate baby now 12 weeks old. Havoc was very excited for "special cake." We shared Devil's food cake with marshmallow icing. Brought home a slice of coconut cream cake to try. I'm on a sort of quest to find really good coconut cake to match a delicious one I had in Las Vegas several years ago. No luck so far. 😄

pun intended 😊

Tilllly · 23/03/2024 05:45

@Mumtobabyhavoc
Maybe I'm distracted by cake talk, but can't see the pun...

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/03/2024 05:48

Tilly, Las Vegas & no luck 😩

Tilllly · 23/03/2024 05:54

Ohhhh

😣 🤦‍♀️

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/03/2024 06:00

Tilly, maybe it was a bit weak...😟

HelenaJustina · 23/03/2024 09:56

Happy Saturday to all those who celebrate. The sun is shining, I’ve been for a run, taken DC to the gym and one to swimming and the second load of washing is about to go on the line to join the first. Today is going to be productive, I can feel it.

Congratultions on the cleaner Tillly am very pleased for you and only slightly envious

Deathraystare · 23/03/2024 10:20

I realise I didn't mean respiratory! That is to do either breathing innit? I had to put something down before my phone died. What I really meant was how the blood pumps around the body. Circulation??????

Penguinsa · 23/03/2024 19:58

Fairly quiet day with rather rainy weather. Collected 3 click and collect orders and got some bark for the garden so hopefully can garden tomorrow. The one shop the price had gone down so they gave me a £15 gift voucher which is good.

DD has been doing her punting job today but apparently it started hailing as she was half way through punting a tour. DH picked her up and got her a pizza as he was in the area anyway.

Gosh that travel insurance quote is very expensive Tilllly I have to confess went to Maldives and Mauritius without insurance but was with DH. Not sure what the GHIC covers. That's great re cleaner.

DH has said he is making pancakes for dinner, I will have my usual mozzarella, parma ham and asparagus one. Had a smoked salmon ploughmans for lunch then tea and biscuits. Been watching Irish Wish on Netflix which is not that great but scenery is nice.

Cake sounds lovely Havoc

Not read Style and Beauty thread Mallards at the moment its pretty much all brown but I do need to research for the future.

Hope the party was good Uman

Good replies are coming in MissC

Hope licence gets sorted soon Math

Have a great weekend everyone. We have a 4 day Easter weekend here next weekend.

Notaflippinclue · 23/03/2024 20:11

Well since we're in the middle of the Great British spring clean picked up a black bin bag full of other peoples crap in the beautiful countryside - this seething underclass, you can't educate pork!

bizzey · 23/03/2024 20:59

@Penguinsa I got caught in a hailstone shower this afternoon as well !!

It was painful 😂.

@Tilllly ...sorry not replied ..
Points could /can be transferred ...
.
But she keeps saying it was a lot of points left ...
Now that could be anything from 17p to £2.30 ....onwards !

When she gets her new cards ...I am going to have to register them online to keep them safe ....as I have a feeling ....this purse losing may happen again 😞!

I think it is going to be easier to register everything ...cards and stuff in my name and email , so if there is a problem...I can deal with it ....as it is my name not hers .

She is 💯 happy for me to do all this by the way !

She keeps saying ...bizzey ...do what you have to ...I trust you 😁!

It is me that has a problem with it !

I don't want mam to lose her independence and individuality .

But ...who am I kidding !!

I think we are at the stage now ...that she can't make decisions...and also ...doesn't want to .

More important meetings taking place next week regarding the adaptations ....and I STILL have to prime myself and look beautiful 🤩🤩 for my passport photo 😂😂😂!

Umanresources · 23/03/2024 22:43

Had a lovely time at the party. Saw lots of family that I hadn't seen for years. It made a change seeing people for a good reason, rather than at the usual funerals. We've said we must get together again soon, so that was a good result. My auntie who was 90 looks and sounds terrific. She doesn't need any walking aids and I felt like such a fraud in my wheelchair.
I have dozed in my chair whilst OH has been watching Top Gun 2. I think I should have an early night now, two wines didn't help much either.
Hope everyone's having a good weekend x

bizzey · 23/03/2024 23:48

@Umanresources glad you had a good time .
Little things like this do lift ours spirits x

bizzey · 23/03/2024 23:49

Did the wheelchair usage go ok ?
