👋 Hello everyone. ☺️
Rainy day here on the Left Coast. Havoc and I managed a bit of a neighbourhood walk and play at the park, though. Havoc now napping and I have had lunch after phone appt with GP. Made a bit of a "what can I find in the fridge" salad: last few grape toms, 2 mini cukes, an avocado, a mini bell pepper (orange), last 4 mini meatballs made a couple days ago and a handful of fusulli from last night's dinner tossed with a few tbsp of Olive Garden salad dressing. Now having a cup of tea.

Penguinsa, both cakes fall into the need category. I may cut myself a slice of pie now. ...😋
Miss, am ever amused with your welcome messages. 😁
Hilda, sounds like quite an under-taking!

God I'm enjoying the quiet here atm. 🫠

mathanxiety · 11/03/2024 23:01

We are also having a very windy day here, though it's from the south and it's warm.

It's almost time to clean off the deck and think about carrying the plants out. I planted sunflower seeds in my sunny bay window a week ago, which all came up, and I'm hoping they'll be sturdy enough for the outdoors in a few weeks. Today I planted tomato seeds. I use takeaway containers like little greenhouses.

I have another bag ready to take to Goodwill - mainly jeans and tops that I never wear. I might have time to drop them off on Wednesday.

I spent last evening watching the Oscars. I haven't seen any of the movies..

Hope everyone celebrating Mother's Day had a lovely day.

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 12/03/2024 00:34

Today I have mostly been shampooing My Little Ponies and working out how to use hair straighteners effectively.

Glad you got home in one piece MissC.

Sunflowers are lovely Math.

I like having random bits of this and that for tea Havoc, your salad sounds great.

I love a good mop Artemis, clean floors are one of life's small pleasures.

bizzey · 12/03/2024 01:52

Ohhh maaannnn !!

Not even read everything post ....
But I want a mop and a spaniel!

I need them both 😅

bizzey · 12/03/2024 02:03

I have had a low dew days ...can't describe it properly.... but just by going away with mam has made me realise how much help she needs .

But of course she won't accept it...so what do I do 😔!

DS 2 has sprung it on me tonight that he is moving out. 😯 !

Then asked me for help in how to do it !!

You know the grown up stuff ! 😁😁..

Well ...as I said to my mam ...we all learn somehow!

I am happy for him ...
(Idiot)

He will have to learn how to pay his way
(Idiot )
(3 x what he is paying here !)

He is a grown up

(he will be back 😁😁)

Trouble is ...
I will have all my stuff dumped in his room 😁😁😁😁...!!

As you all know...
I am in a big sort out mood 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/03/2024 02:07

I love spaniels, Bizzey. Had a Springer growing up. She was a baaaaby... 😍
I remember taking her to the farm where we boarded our horses and she was ecstatic making friends with the farm's Springers. It was like long lost kin. They tore all around chasing the ducks and geese!

Went for another walk with Havoc and just sitting down to choco chip coconut pancakes with caramelized banana. It's still raining and windy now. Clocks were turned back an hour on the weekend so it's still a bit light out.

bizzey · 12/03/2024 02:20

@MissConductUS
I have to agree with @Mumtobabyhavoc ...

@HildaTablet

Now to be know as 7 doors Hilda! Like 2 sheds Jackson or 2 jags (forgotten his name . A Brit politician.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 12/03/2024 14:39

Hello everyone,
I'm currently lying on my bed with feet under a big teddy blanket. Got the company of 2 little cats and this weeks Sunday papers. True crime on in the background, trying desperately to relax as I'm getting over a MH episode. Got my cup of tea, have done all the washing which some of is on radiators. I know some people hate this but I'm in the baltic north and getting stuff dried quickly is a priority. Had a few v discreet nosies out window as new neighbours moving in today. Will cook a roast chicken later and watch a film with partner. Feel guilty about being off work but it's a chance to recuperate. Will have some medication next which will help relaxation. Wish I could stir up the motivation to get into my garden. Hope everyone is having a calm day.

HildaTablet · 12/03/2024 14:39

Haha yes @Deathraystare that's me! 2 jags Prescott, was it? I was always rather fond of Arthur ‘2 Sheds’ Jackson myself!

Notaflippinclue · 12/03/2024 14:50

My Vileda mop sprays out onto the kicking boards but just realised my bissel electric carpet cleaner does hard floors too, doesn't squirt forwards and sucks up the wet - happy days. Made to measure oak glazed door supply and fit £1000

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/03/2024 17:04

@PTSDBarbiegirl you'll have to explain your comment, "I know some people hate this but...". I'm the lone Canadian on the thread, so some references are obscure to me (I'm good at googling, though, so I try not to look too ignorant!) 😄
Sorry you've been having a rough time. A nice dinner and watching a movie sounds good, though. If time off is what you need then don't feel guilty. Health first. 🩷

Tilllly · 12/03/2024 17:23

I've been to the opticians today. I was getting some funny blurry patches over the last few days and was concerned that it was the new medication. I get very anxious about my eyes and I've had various problems.

She was so lovely, and they were so so thorough, they did every test that they could do.

Everything is fine, my eyes are very healthy, all work as it should be. I have dry eyes syndrome and she said they are very very dry at the moment. So one of the new medications is probably drying them out more so just need to up my drops

I am so relieved. If she said there was nothing wrong, I would still be querying why I'm getting blurry patches, but her saying that they are very dry when I've been using the drops makes sense.

Penguinsa · 12/03/2024 17:27

Lovely you met an old friend Tilllly

The Mother's Day red velvet cake was all gone in a day with DS the biggest consumer.

DD has been clearing her room and asked me "how long can I borrow your hoover for?" 😂Though she has now made industrial quantities of recycling and rubbish which exceed our bins capacity so think will need a special collection.

Went swimming on Sunday and had a roast dinner. Been sorting out MRI scan and taking a few calls re that and appears to be getting sorted slowly. Endo have came back with an appointment for end of June which is good. DH is working late but from home at least today so will go swimming tomorrow instead of today. I sorted the clothes cupboard a bit.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 29: Calmly through the day
MissConductUS · 12/03/2024 17:34

Thank you, @Tilllly, @bizzey and @Mumtobabyhavoc. I try to make an effort to welcome the newcomers.

Welcome, @PTSDBarbiegirl, and thanks for sharing your cat snuggling, tea and washing news. It's good to hear that you are on the mend. The cats are likely wondering when you will get up and feed them, play with them, or provide them treats. I, like every other American I've ever met, have a tumble drier, so I have no experience with drying the washing on radiators. It sounds perfectly sensible to me.

Here's a picture of the downed tree by the reservoir. The men in high viz showed up minutes later and started cutting up and removing it.I walked past it yesterday and it was fine. Fifteen minutes later, I walked past it again, and it was down. I took the second picture at lunchtime today of the hole in the ground after the tree was removed.

@HildaTablet ·

So glad you knew what I meant!!!

@Penguinsa

What do you mean the cake is all gone????? Where is my piece???

@Tilllly

I had to smile when you said Dry eye syndrome as although my eyes run , Dr thought it might be that. Went to hospital, luckily I had read up on it as the Dr advanced towards me with a syringe!! Worse, there was another patient in the room, we were separated by a curtain and he was disabled so kept banging into the curtain. I asked the Dr to wait until he had finished smashing the place up! I had visions of walking around with syringes in my eyes!

Deathraystare · 12/03/2024 17:38

@PTSDBarbiegirl ·

Hope you are enjoying yourself. We should look after ourselves, if not all the time then when we can!

Deathraystare · 12/03/2024 17:42

@bizzey

Sure you haven't got door envy from Hilda's 7 (yes, 7) interior doors? C'mon now you know you want 'em.

Tilllly · 12/03/2024 17:49

@Deathraystare
Mine don't run, but you can have excessive watering of your eyes and still have dry eyes syndrome. Bizarre

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/03/2024 18:15

Gorgeous cake Penguinsa! 😋😋😋
I'm taking Havoc for "special cake" tomorrow for a half birthday. I'm thinking German chocolate with the marshmallow icing....
The cuteness factor of Havoc and baby is off the charts right now. Baby is smiling, laughing and cooing and Havoc is melting my heart with random hugs saying, I love you, wanting to share toys and offering me food: "for you mummy, num num." 🥰🥰🥰

Penguinsa · 12/03/2024 18:49

Death DS had 6 slices of cakes so sorry I think he ate yours. 😎I will order another one with cake for us all or maybe a selection of cakes - they do red velvet, chocolate, vanilla, lemon and carrot cake with walnuts.

Glad you are enjoying 2 little ones Havoc they sound adorable.

DH is making a roast dinner.

MissConductUS · 12/03/2024 18:59

Havoc, the cuteness is an evolutionary adaptation. It's what keeps us from killing them. 😁

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/03/2024 19:23

Miss, I've read that, too. Babies of all species endear themselves to their caregivers. I also just read that by 5 months they can tell who is safe/helpful and who isn't.
Tilly, Death, eyes water excessively in response to dryness in a never-ending cycle. It's worth having it checked by an optometrist and getting a recco for eye drops. Likely otc drops will be sufficient and best to get an exam before the condition worsens. I just use saline drops, but my mum uses an otc lubricating one that helps with macular degeneration. She also takes anti-histamines to prevent watering eyes.

Penguins, glad to know wheels are slowly turning still re mri. 🤞
