@MissConductUS
Oh no, that's rotten news and rotten timing too. I'm sorry 😞
Is it a straightforward op? And you can recover in time?

Penguinsa · 07/03/2024 05:32

So sorry Tilllly that the cancer has spread and the awful pain. Glad you are home though. Sorry some of the nurses took half an hour to get pain relief when you were in agony. This sounds bleak but I have heard of people getting pain relief plans via local hospice, one said they have had it for 3 years now and recommended that (in as much as you can recommend cancer treatment).

Thanks for the good wishes for Floof everyone - he is much better, came in to me at 6.30am yesterday for his tuna and has been lying on the beds all stretched out about 1.2 metres, tail out front paws stretched out trilling, purring and very cuddly. So happy to see him back to normal.

Hope you can get the surgery done quickly MissC

Hope you are getting better Havoc

Hope your cats are Ok with storm Math

Had a homemade cottage pie. Green and blue bins were collected which is good as we had more to put in which is now in them.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/03/2024 06:08

Tillly, I'm so sorry. Truly f-ing awful news. Offering a handhold and hug from here. 💐

NewGirlinClass · 07/03/2024 06:32

Some of these items are far too exiting, far from dull.
Sorry to hear about how one or two of you are suffering, certainly not trivial pain.
I only came to report that by 6.00 I was dressed computer on and drinking first tea of the day.

Tilllly · 07/03/2024 06:45

I'm tired just reading that @NewGirlinClass 😀😂

Tilllly · 07/03/2024 06:52

@Penguinsa @Mumtobabyhavoc
Yeah, was not what we wanted to hear. Might be able to have radiotherapy to shrink them a bit, slow them down.
Am settling for no pain at the moment tho!

I made my peace with this bastard disease some time ago, life is still good and if the lull in pain is down to new meds, then I can get on with it

I'm surrounded by friends, I've had a good life so far, with more to come, my boys are grown (in so much as the male species can be grown!!) I'm (usually) well cared for, and as it says in my beloved Chalet School books, dying is just falling asleep to wake up with God.

Have oncology today but otherwise plan a very quiet Daisy filled day
What's everyone else up to today?

sproutsandparsnips · 07/03/2024 08:27

Tillly Flowers
Glad Floof better Penguinsa
Miss hope sorting your surgery goes smoothly. Menu looks delicious.
Havoc feel better soon.
Just about to leave for work in the hopes I may get a parking space.......

HildaTablet · 07/03/2024 09:28

Sending solidarity, @Tilllly

Penguinsa · 07/03/2024 09:34

Glad you have good friends Tilllly and that you've had a good life so far. Enjoy the pet cuddles.

Hope you got a parking space Sprouts

Just had a cup of tea and a shortbread biscuit. Will probably go swimming with DH tonight as his earplugs seem to have worked though made conversation there a bit challenging. 😂

More homemade cottage pie for lunch. DS accidentally shut Floof in the kitchen for 30 mins or so this morning but luckily I heard Floof trying to open the door from upstairs at 6am or so and we let Floof out who was then very trilly.

MissConductUS · 07/03/2024 14:16

Oh, Tillly, I'm so sorry to hear that your cancer has progressed to that point. Prayers and support from this side of the pond.

The cervical disc replacement surgery is not that bad. They go in from the front, and push the trachea out of the way to get access to the spine, so no muscles have to be cut in the process. The patient goes home the same day. I'll probably need very minimal pain relief and be back to work in a few days.

Welcome, @NewGirlinClass, and thanks for sharing your industrious morning news with us. I'm also an early riser, but since I'm five hours behind most of the people here, it's not readily apparent.

NewGirlinClass · 07/03/2024 14:22

@MissConductUS , Not a choice to be industrious, merely insomnia. I gave up pretending to be asleep.
Now finding it difficult to keep my eyes open.
Thanks fo the welcome

Umanresources · 07/03/2024 14:53

@Tilllly in so sorry to hear about your pain. I hope things are bearable for you at the moment. I think you are very brave and can't imagine how strong you are 🙏💐
I too am a Chalet School lover. I just re-read Gay from China and sobbed through the last few chapters. I've now moved on to Rosamund. It's such a good way to escape the daily grind and remember the good times.

I'm in awe of everyone's daily life. My highlight this week was meeting up with old friends for lunch and trying to rearrange hospital appointment! Not that exciting.

Hope everyone is having a good day and looking forward to the weekend.

MissConductUS · 07/03/2024 14:58

Newgirl, I have insomnia too, a variety called "early final awakening". I frequently wake up after five or six hours asleep and then can't get back to sleep. I do a lot of admin stuff when everyone else is still in bed.

We booked our places for the reception venue tasting. I'm waiting to hear if they can cook the chateaubriand to order, as I can't eat really rare beef. If they can't, I'll either have the short ribs or the chicken.

I'm still in a bit of shock that I'm going under then knife again. This will be my third orthopedic surgery in four years. I feel like I should be getting frequent flyer points with my medical practice.

Deathraystare · 07/03/2024 15:32

Aww shit @Tilllly that is shitty. Sending you (gentle) hugs.

Deathraystare · 07/03/2024 15:35

@Penguinsa

Shortbread biscuits are the best! I like biscuits to have a crunch. Not American but I call any soft chewey biscuits 'cookies' and do not like them!

Penguinsa · 07/03/2024 15:52

Shortbread biscuits are so nice Death

Well it appears our good health on here is continuing - I just have a letter from endocrinology to say they think I have cyclical Cushings and I need to go in to discuss it. No idea if that will mean surgery on the adrenal tumour though that will likely be in 2090 with current wait lists. And the ongoing trying to get an MRI continues and message from GP saying they can't help. I have paid £450 to scan UK in desperation but I bet it gets rejected as its cancer but we will see.

Having a cup of tea.

mathanxiety · 07/03/2024 19:36

Tilllly - you are amazingly courageous in the face of all this adversity.
Sending every good wish, especially for effective pain relief.

HelenaJustina · 07/03/2024 21:25

I love shortbread too, it might be my favourite biscuit.

I’m so sorry about your progression Tilley delighted to hear you are a fellow Chaletian though! My DMum spent a few years (and many pounds) buying one of my DC the entire series. It has a bookcase all to its lovely self and is honestly one of the things I would save in a fire! They are such a solid lump of comfort!

Miss sorry to hear your surgery news, hope you are coming around to it. Fingers firmly crossed for a date soon and a swift recovery.

bizzey · 08/03/2024 01:13

Glad you had a good holiday Bizzey

Deathraystare · 08/03/2024 09:50

Woohoo! International Women's Day today. A very nice staff member ?nurse
? Doctor handed me and two cleaners a Lindt chocolate (those round ones). Apparently in her country women bring in food and the men bring them flowers!

Deathraystare · 08/03/2024 09:51

As she said, we women should be supportive of each other. Hear Hear!

Tilllly · 08/03/2024 10:06

Hmmm I just booked an Uber, it said 6 minutes

I checked a few minutes later and it'd changed to 14 minutes

So I'm in it now and am late
