How old were you when you lost your virginity?

And if you have children old enough, how old were they?

I keep hearing about how kids are losing their virginity younger and younger now so I was curious to know how old you were, compared to your children.

I was 17. Dh was 13.

DD is 10 and still at the age where anything sexual grosses her out (thank god). They are currently doing sex education at school at the moment and she comes home horrified every time

  1. And I hope my children will be the same.

Statistically it must be quite unlikely for them to not be sexually actively until their mid-late 20s

MolkosTeenageAngst · 21/02/2024 17:19

19 and the last of my friends. Mid 00s and I’d say the norm in my friend group was 15-17.

Still got mine. I'm 53.

Am I wrong to be feeling sorry for you?

FizzyWizzyBubbles · 21/02/2024 17:21

Dh was 14

Zoobi · 21/02/2024 17:24

24, on my wedding night. My husband was also a virgin.

LyricalGangsta · 21/02/2024 17:25

15
Average within our peer group in 1999

Lovewine1975 · 21/02/2024 17:27

I was 17 but a lot of my friends were 14/15

Cotswoldmama · 21/02/2024 17:28

I had just turned 17 and was the first of my group of friends.

Seablue9 · 21/02/2024 17:28

19 & married him a few years later. Absolutely no regrets about lack of variety, had plenty just not the full on sex. DH same.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 21/02/2024 17:28

a month shy of 34.

TheTecknician · 21/02/2024 17:30

@Lemonandlime7654 What you feel is up to you, whether it be pity, curiosity, horror or amusement. Personally, I feel I've either been unlucky or I'm just not popular. Maybe a little of both but something likely went wrong somewhere in the last 30-40 years and has yet to be corrected.

Thankyou for asking. And, if it makes any difference, male.

NYC2018 · 21/02/2024 17:31

Totally depends on your tradition, peer group, expectations...

Robotik · 21/02/2024 17:32

I was just 16 and he was just 17. I married him. Each others first and onlys. We have 3 children now 🤪

That's actually really sweet 😊

Nottogetapenny · 21/02/2024 17:35

I was 19. We’ve been married for more than 40 years!

Killerqueenie · 21/02/2024 17:35

I had just turned 16. Wasn't a good experience. Didn't have sex again after that until I was 18 with my now DH. I had other sexual experiences prior to turning 16, my earliest at 13.

dh was 16, fairly average in my peer group.
DD I think 15/16, DS1 I think 14, DS2 18/19

TheFormidableMrsC · 21/02/2024 17:41

Nearly 17. I wouldn't dream of asking my adult daughter as it's none of my business.

OldTinHat · 21/02/2024 17:43

19

HateItWhenABitchLetsHimselfSlide · 21/02/2024 17:47

I was 16. I have an (almost) 21 year old and a 17 year old. Both are still virgins as far as I know.

CoalCraft · 21/02/2024 17:48

There is a huge range of normal. I was 16.

Beebop1784 · 21/02/2024 17:49
  1. No regrets, it was a lovely night
Gymmum82 · 21/02/2024 17:49

16 and I was one of the last in my peer group. They’d all lost theirs at 14/15

Mesoavocado · 21/02/2024 17:51

17 and felt was one of the last of my peer group
