How old were you when you lost your virginity?

And if you have children old enough, how old were they?

I keep hearing about how kids are losing their virginity younger and younger now so I was curious to know how old you were, compared to your children.

I was 17. Dh was 13.

DD is 10 and still at the age where anything sexual grosses her out (thank god). They are currently doing sex education at school at the moment and she comes home horrified every time

15 I think. Maybe 16. Wasn't a boyfriend, just someone I knew who would oblige with ridding me of my virginity. I had a very unhealthy attitude to sex and intimacy. I'd attempted prior to that and been up to all sorts from year 8 onwards.

In hindsight I regret losing my virginity at 13.its far too young,my ds is 14 and as far as I know he's not done it.but some of the things I've spoken about how I behaved in my teens I like to think he will wait until he is the legal age and with someone who he will have feelings for and respect.

19 when off tits drunk, I really wish I had waited for DH, who I met about 6 months later.

I came away with the impression that sex was fine, I didn't mind it, but nowhere near as exciting as people made it out to be.

(My sex life has since improved greatly).

teenage dd shows no signs of impending sexual activity, but we still have regular talks about consent, emotional readiness, and safer sex.

16 or 17. Can't fully remember. It could have been sooner but I never followed through.

14 nearly 15. The bf at the time was 17 almost 18.

I was 18, DH was 19 (each other’s firsts). DD is 26 - no idea if she’s a virgin but I’m not aware of any romances. DS is 20 definitely no romance - special needs, never leaves the house.

16 for me. I was sneaking out and partying at that age. I don’t remember much about sex education in school - a few cross sectional diagrams of sex organs, and a carrot and condom. Nothing useful.

My children are reaching those teenage years and I am thankful that the educational system is much better and covers so much more, from sexual orientation to sexting/photos and consent. I hope they are better informed than I was.

I was 15

17, which I think was a really nice age! Old enough to have some understanding of it all and to feel like I'd 'waited' until I was ready.

I was 16, so was my boyfriend. We had been together for a few months but waited til I turned 16 as he didn't want to get in trouble.

Neither of us had a clue what we were doing but had fun figuring it out. No regrets. My kids are much younger so no idea what age they will be.

16 - 4 months before my 17th birthday.

16... Not because I waited necessarily just because that's when it happened with someone I met at college

We were both each other's first and enjoyed a varied sex life until we split up at 18ish

I've thought about this over the years but in truth the partner I had was only just over the age of consent himself and I truly don't think he realised that he was doing anything wrong (it was the early 90s and consent wasn't something that was discussed). I'm still in touch with him and he has daughters of his own now. I'm quite sure that looking back he is equally horrified at what happened. He had peer pressure put on him to "do it" too (also a virgin).

Some people are really sick. If someone was so young I don't think one can call it losing one's virginity.

I was SA at around 8/9 years old.

I had my first consensual sexual experience when I was 24.

I don't like to associate the two experiences.

The first time I had consensual, happy emotionally-connected sex was age 18.

I was 18 which was old in my peer group. My "first" was 13 when he lost his. My sister was 13 as well. My DD I think was in her early 20s.

17. I think my DD was 19.

16, which was pretty standard for the girls who wanted to in my friendship group. It was a good age for me. 13 is disturbingly young.

16. I thought I was so mature and ready. Turns out - not so much!

It scared the life out of me. Waited 3 years then before doing it again.

I was 15 but I wouldn't dream of reporting the boy who was 17 at the time. I was a horny teenager who wanted sex, perfectly natural at that age. I was fully consenting and enjoyed the experience!
