Morning all.

Hope you get some refreshing rest @SingleThreadJoiner !

Congrats on the great feedback @Aria999 !

yesterday the tree man finally came down to deal with a massive tree. It's made the most unbelievable difference. So- tree issue successfully delegated- tick.

DH went out to the shops and stepped in dog poo then traipsed it all over our new carpets so he spent a considerable amount of time with our carpet washing machine washing ALL the stairs. So- carpet washing successfully delegated- tick!

I made the most revolting smug soup. I tossed dry gluten free pasta into it to soak then took DS1 to an appointment and came back to find the pasta had disintegrated into mush and slime. So- fish and chips takeaway successfully delegated for dinner- tick!

Hoping for a better day today where I actually achieve something!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/03/2024 07:59

Aria, robovac sounds brilliant! 🌟
Spring, similar has happened to me. I now cook my pasta al dente separately and add to bowl of soup at serving then put excess into fridge for next day(s).

Not much to report here. Grand plans, though...

Peridot1 · 23/03/2024 08:49

Morning all!

Yuck to the dog poo @SpringLobelia. Maybe time for an outdoor shoes off at front door policy with the new carpets?

My extra jobs yesterday were cleaning out the bin/recycling cupboard in the kitchen. All three bins were full so I washed out the main bin and vacuumed out the bottom of the cupboard and cleaned it all and the pull out bit. A bit of an impromptu one but one that I’ve been meaning to do. Tick!

Also filled another box with table linens from the cupboard that is due to be demolished. Tick!

Today I’m going to clean around the dishwasher door. And clear another shelf in the living room cupboard. Plus the usual chores. May also see if DH fancies a trip to the garden centre. Which will mean doing a targetted list rather than just buying random plants.

Have a great Saturday all.

SpringLobelia · 24/03/2024 07:19

Oooh what plant treasures did you get from the garden centre @Peridot1 ?

There is a shoes off policy upstairs......but I was not at that time at home and DH channelled being a teenage boy and decided he could get away with it.... Hmm Grin Nope. He was most shamefaced. And rightly so. So much light is now coming into the hallway after the tree trimming that we also need to get curtains for our landing. We have some precious oil paintings that DH inherited from his parents and cannot risk them being damaged by the sun. I know grey is very passe nowadays but I would like oyster grey silk curtains. Not sure the budget will stretch to that though!

Today I am planting some hellebores which have been hanging around for ages. I also scattered wildflower seed everywhere yesterday and it rained nicely today so i want to get another box and do the same. I also need to wash and iron all the school shirts.... looking forward to the easter holidays!

Have a great day everyone!!

Peridot1 · 24/03/2024 08:59

We didn’t go in the end @SpringLobelia. DH suggested waiting and going in the week when it’s less busy.

Oyster grey silk curtains sounds lovely for your landing. Amazing what a difference taking a tree out does.

No major jobs panned here today. I didn’t clean around the dishwasher so may do that. I did do a bit of a sort of the snack drawer which wasn’t as bad as I thought. Nothing out of date at least.

Have a nice Sunday all.

petalpower · 24/03/2024 09:10

I keep starting posts then not finishing them and posting them on here. I don’t know where the days go!
After having a bit of a conversation/moan about jobs that need doing earlier this week with DH we have achieved the following:

  • his Christmas presents have finally been moved from the sitting room (I was interested to hear from some of you that this didn’t just apply to my husband!)
  • ordered a new light for the utility room as it only works intermittently
  • put the Christmas decorations in the roof of the garage
  • gathered up scrap metal to take to our community skip for fundraising
  • put up,the nice light in the new shower room rather than the horrible one that was needed to pass building regs
  • ordered top soil to finish part of the garden where a tree was taken out last year
  • filed a big pile of paperwork
SpiritOfEdna · 25/03/2024 13:50

morning, same here with starting posts and wandering off 😄(to do listed tasks)
Today

  • off out tonight so need to find some clean clothes and somewhere to park 😄
  • finally found an electrician who is coming at the weekend so need to buy an outdoor light - need to sort out the front bit of the house before he comes to install
  • hire rug doctor to do Q1 rug/sofa/bed cleaning
  • payday! Finance Admin
Not so busy work day today as most of team are off on BH (India), so can get some admin stuff done, have a good one, SoE
SingleThreadJoiner · 25/03/2024 21:57

Hello all, thanks for the moral support and happy new week! I'm particularly excited by @SpringLobelia 's newly bright hallway after the tree was taken down - it must feel transformative!

Still all go here, but have delegated laundry to the H for a couple of weeks while I push through the worst of the work bottleneck. I am in mild fear of a minor dryer or colour disaster but I just don't have the bandwith for it at the moment so I will just cross my fingers and hope! All good so far....He also arranged a eye appointment for the D, and her passport renewal, so things are being accomplished...just not by me! 😆

Have booked a physio appointment for dodgy knee which I hurt while skiing.

And bought the D two pairs of shoes for school - she's grown half a size since August 😭

And organised presents and Easter treats for the people we're seeing over the Easter break.

So that is not too shabby I guess.

Sorry for not acknowledging more people individually!

RunningKatie · 26/03/2024 09:09

Morning all! It's a wfh day today so dishwasher is on, washing all hung out, and I need to make a plan.
Hairdresser coming tomorrow so downstairs needs to be clean. PIL coming at Easter so entire house needs to be immaculate, especially the oven and baking trays. And I need to hide anything precious that FIL may break in his enthusiasm to wash up.

Aria999 · 26/03/2024 09:17

Yikes good luck @RunningKatie that would be two days work in our house!

Peridot1 · 26/03/2024 09:19

Morning all.

A bit of a stressful time here as DS (who is in Dublin) is having headaches and not feeling 100%. Trying to sort medical appointments and tests is not easy. Feel like we are going around in circles. He is coming home on Thursday. I suspect it’s rebound headaches but obviously your mind goes to the sinister option.

Anyway - I have some admin to do so will do that today.

Also need to discuss and approve the plans from the carpenter for units we are having built.

Do some more clearing and packing away of things in cupboard in living room.

Also need a quick supermarket shop.

And need to persuade DH to get someone to power wash the patio. As well as the normal lovely annual signs of spring here we have the traditional one of DH hurting his knee trying to do too much in the garden! He wants to do it himself but I just want it done. And it’s not as if there isn’t lots more for him to do once his knee is better.

Have a great day all.

SpringLobelia · 26/03/2024 10:35

Hope your DS is okay @Peridot1 . I know very well how your thoughts immediately turn to the sinister.

Hope everyone has a good day.

I also need to book in a patio pressure wash. Thanks for the reminder @Peridot1 Hope your DH's knee gets better!

All okay here. DH got his test results back and his concerning fainting spells were a combo of him coming down with covid, his body reacting badly to existing medication and a very minor heart issue that is easily monitored. So a massive relief.

I am at home today so need to try and get on top of the house before our cleaner arrives on Thursday as i simply won't have time tomorrow.

best wishes to everyone. @RunningKatie if my PILs were coming I'd be neside myself with stress and anxiety so I salute you. Thanks

Peridot1 · 26/03/2024 12:20

That’s great news about your DH’s results @SpringLobelia!

Aria999 · 26/03/2024 17:17

That's a relief @SpringLobelia ! 😊

SingleThreadJoiner · 28/03/2024 14:09

Joining the relief and joy for the good outcome @SpringLobelia !

RunningKatie · 28/03/2024 14:19

Ah, good news @SpringLobelia

I'm off work, just raced to get a few bits done before the dc arrive home from school. The house is quiet, ddog is fast asleep next to me, wondering if I can pull in a 20 min power nap too!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/03/2024 16:37

Peridot, I hope your son is getting needed tests. Sounds worrying.
Spring, glad your dh has had a decent outcome.
It makes sense that a few things colluded to cause the symptoms. Hope things stay on the up. 😊

Just staying afloat here. Need to plan Easter dinner. Have got a duck in the freezer, so will cook that. Must decide on sides. Ordered dessert, though.

SpringLobelia · 29/03/2024 06:41

Thank you everyone for your good wishes. Thanks

I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend!

We are going to a film and pizza hut today (possibly my favourite thing with the DCs as it is so rare to persuade them!) and then having lunch with friends on Sunday. Then on Tuesday we head for our trip away which I am SO excited about!

If it stops raining I plan to get some gardening done as well. I'm having some garden beds put in along our path and plan to line it all with lavender so I need to start thinking about how wide / long etc.

Hope everyone has a lovely lovely weekend. ❤

RunningKatie · 30/03/2024 11:43

Happy Saturday all! I've been out for breakfast with a friend, run a cleaning cycle on the dishwasher and got a load of washing out on the line.
Dc1 is parked in front of the tv, dc2 has been on a sleepover but due back soon. As the weather's dry I'm hoping to do some gardening today, the house is not ready for the PIL arrival but I refuse to stay inside on a dry bank holiday day!
Hope you're all relaxing and eating more chocolate than normal

RunningKatie · 02/04/2024 13:47

Hope everyone survived the long weekend! I'm a mum taxi today, both dc doing different activities - one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I miss the days of baking, play doh and parks when I at least got a coffee at home!
Todsy I'm hoping to tackle the ironing when we get home, or possibly take dc1 to get some new school trousers.
We built our new bed at the weekend, which has lots of lovely storage space underneath it, so I'm also putting things away that have never had a home.

SpiritOfEdna · 03/04/2024 10:01

hello, I am around, reading, but not up to much - I am dog-sitting at the moment for family who are on a sunny half term break. I am bouncing between two houses so can't do much at either!
Have a good day all, SoE

petalpower · 03/04/2024 10:24

I’m still here too. We’ve had dad and stepmother here for Easter (also DS) and DH has set off this morning to drive them home so it’s just me and Petaldog until
tomorrow sometime. I’m planning on having a bit of a general tidy up and house reset especially as my car made a loud bang on Easter Saturday and can’t be looked at by the garage until next Monday. We live very rurally so apart from walking the dog I’m not able to go anywhere without a lift. Normally not a problem
to drive DH’s car but he’s using it today and tomorrow. First world problems! DH has asked me to finish painting the new doors in the extension before the carpenter comes back to do the final
jobs of the building project on Friday and Monday. I also need to plant my potatoes and onions
Have a good day everyone!

petalpower · 03/04/2024 22:24

How is your son @Peridot1 ? Is he home from Dublin? Hope all is well.

Aria999 · 04/04/2024 02:14

Quick wave to everyone!

I have a short project on that I picked up end of last week from a previous client (yay repeat business!) then I need to do the tax return forms (DH normally does but is snowed under so I have offered).

Then I need to take some time off!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/04/2024 06:05

Just popping in to say, Hi. 👋
Sounds like everyone has been busy, had a decent Easter and some facing a few challenges. Sending support to those needing it. ❤️
Easter was good here. I went a bit picture mad with baby for first Easter and enjoyed seeing Havoc have fun finding chocolates. Went to three different Easter bunny events: Easter train last week with egg hunt and pic with Easter bunny, Aquarium with "Scuba" Easter bunny swimming with seals and up to glass to wave at kiddos with photo opp and Easter bunny at a local farm with crafts and food bendors and pic with Easter bunny. Bunny was busy... 😁
Had a lovely dinner of roast duck and a coconut cake from favourite cake shop for desert.
Just did an extra thorough vacuum moving furniture etc and finally washed out canister and vacuum filters. Feeling ahead of the game now. 👍
