Physio appt booked at last! Phew.
Also car loaded up for charity shop drop off, I'm going at lunchtime, missing the ddog walk but dh is home and will probably enjoy a quieter one.
Hoovering done, there's a mark on the stairs that needs cleaning so will try and do that later.
Hope the cold is easing soon @FrostyFogg

SpiritOfEdna · 14/03/2024 13:00

hello!
Today:

  • spotted some soft baby carrots in the fridge today (the carrots in the fridge are old enough to procreate 😄) crumbs of unknown origin, and papery death husks from garlic so I guess that is going on my list for today...
  • busy work day, but all in hand, I need to tidy my desk as I go today, am surrounded by sticky notes - should use OneNote but that is far too efficient
  • put a calendar reminder for next hygenist appointment or I will forget
  • and while that reminds me, put in a calendar reminder for pilates - I couldnt go on Saturday all booked up - the horror!
  • pondering booking a day off to do nothing !!!
  • count down the days to Pay day - my car and dentist have wiped me out this month.
  • might give up on waiting for the charity bag to be collected and take it to a local depository thing.
That's all for today, have a good one, SoE.
Mumtobabyhavoc · 14/03/2024 13:13

Morning all (6:00am here)
Frosty, sorry to hear you've got a cold. We're in week two of it. Look after yourself. 💐
SoE and Katie, I need to take clothes away to donation, too. Being sick has hampered my efforts. I have been collecting batteries that need to go to recycling and I need to find charger for the others.
Just keeping afloat here, otherwise.

FrostyFroggy · 16/03/2024 06:41

Ah @SingleThreadJoiner a long drive with a decent playlist is one of life's unexpected pleasures, isn't it?
@RunningKatie pleased you finally got your appointment 😊 I hope it helps. I'm overdue for a sports massage, but things keep cropping up.
I have managed to triple book myself on Monday. In theory it might all be possible but it's definitely going to be One Of Those Days. I will be glad when it's Tuesday! It's looking harder as I'm still a bit under the weather (a cold might be 'just a cold' but it can make you feel so lousy, I'm sure we all agree) I am on the up now though. DH too.

I hope you are all feeling better @Mumtobabyhavoc

@SpiritOfEdna your 'papery death husks of garlic' really amused me! I have those too! I might put a jar of lazy garlic on the shopping list today.

No smug soup today. What's left in the fridge is going on the compost. I have only so many beans left with this lurgy.

Today....still got my unexpected job till tomorrow, and I'm regretting taking it on. Am very weary. My 'economically inactive' self has her hands full enough with supporting various family members and their appointments, health crises and whatnot.

I think we are a daily project free zone at home, until Tues. Food and clean underwear taking priority!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend 💐

petalpower · 17/03/2024 10:46

I can’t believe everyone it’s been a week since I last posted on this thread - every day I intend to and just end up reading what everyone else has been doing! Today my DH has gone to a music competition his band are playing in so it’s just me and Petaldog for the day. I need to:

  • redo my Sainsbury’s order, it should have come yesterday morning but we were affected by the big outage so I’ve got another booked for tomorrow morning. Slim pickings until then!
  • ironing
  • visit auntie at the care home (I’m still going in nearly every day)
  • freeze leftovers
  • clean the fridge - I might go mad and take all the shelves out to wash them!
Have a good day all!
Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/03/2024 16:39

Petal, sounds likeca productive day for you. 😄

I got 7 hours sleep last night!!! Cannot believe baby is sleeping through. So, have stripped bed and am washing sheets, duvet cover and mattress cover. Have got a banana bread in the oven and made porridge with cinnamon apples for breakfast. It's just past 9:30am so am feeling quite accomplished already. 😁

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! 🍀

petalpower · 17/03/2024 20:55

That’s good going with the sleep @Mumtobabyhavoc ! Neither of mine slept that well at such a young age. They are both now in their twenties and have no problem with sleeping however!!
I managed everything on the list apart from the fridge cleaning as there are some unidentified items from DH that I need to check with him (he was in charge of cooking when we had friends over last night) and I lost enthusiasm!

SpringLobelia · 18/03/2024 08:42

Hi all- just a quick post and run. Sorry for silence- mad week with extra work due to absences. I need to out in some boundaries considering this is meant to be a temp (and part time!) job!

Hope all are well Thanks

SpiritOfEdna · 18/03/2024 12:53

Morning all, today is a busy work day, and is probably the first day I have been dressed in something other than gym kit.
Today

  • work out why the sewing maching is bunching up the underthread into huge twisted loops & knots- the internet says tension is wrong but nothing I do corrects it. I gave up in frustration yesterday, will go again today. All I need to sew is two big straight long lines 😄
  • I emailed a company about gravstone renovation last week - no answer back so I need to chase this week.
  • need to swap some pictures around in the little nook in the kitchen.
  • TIDY DESK - it's never ever straight 😒
That's all for today, I've watched come YouTube videos and I've threaded my machine and the bobbin correctly, so off we go again, have a good one, SoE.
SpiritOfEdna · 18/03/2024 13:42

VICTORY - I have successfully sewed a very long straight line. Thank you German You Tuber.

Peridot1 · 18/03/2024 14:11

Hello everyone. I found you!

I got back from Australia on Wednesday. Had a fabulous time. Ate too much, drank too much, shopped too much and repeat!

I have read the thread to catch up a bit but won’t attempt to comment on anything or will be here all day. Although @petalpower i hope auntie is on the mend.

Welcome new people - especially @lucysmam. I often read and comment on the weekend threads and also the Poncetastic Christmas threads.

Since I got back I have mostly been unpacking and catching up with washing. Mine - DH had his and towels etc all sorted. Impressed myself yesterday by washing a pile of shirts in the morning, ironing them in the afternoon while they were still damp and they all got put away this morning.

Other job today was ordering a new large plant pot so we can repot a houseplant and I also propagated some baby spider plants. Watered the plants too and they are looking happier already.

Am about to pack a box of table linens etc from a cupboard in our living room which needs emptying as it will be demolished in a few weeks.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/03/2024 07:17

Glad you had a goid trip Peridot. ☺️ I loved Australia as visited there a few times. It's been years now, though. What area were you in? I was Sunshine Coast down to Sydney. Would live to take dc when they are older.

No tasks for me today other than a grocery shop. Last night was a late night putter and laundry day, though.

SpringLobelia · 19/03/2024 07:58

Morning all.

Welcome back @Peridot1 !

I'm at home today and plan to try and do the maintenance housework only.

And some ironing and washing.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Peridot1 · 19/03/2024 08:45

@Mumtobabyhavoc - I was in Sydney mainly but had a trip down to Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula which was lovely.

petalpower · 19/03/2024 09:40

My daughter is travelling in Australia at the moment and has been on the east coast between Sydney and Cairns. It looks beautiful from her photos. Good to
see you back @Peridot1 and thanks for mentioning auntie.

Aria999 · 19/03/2024 18:06

Robot vacuum update:

I like it!

Originally I was worried it was scuffing the wood floors but then I followed it round for a bit and it doesn't look like it, so they may have been scuffed beforehand 😳

It does need some prep work (removing loose objects, wires, kitchen chairs etc) so I can't see myself programming it to go at a regular time.

Job winding down now so today's task has been sorting out the robot vacuum. It has nearly finished the bits of the downstairs it can reach. I need to figure out how to move it between levels!

SpringLobelia · 19/03/2024 19:56

Hah! That reminds me of the cartoon about Daleks taking over the universe.

All fine until they meet a staircase.

Aria999 · 20/03/2024 02:15

Lol @SpringLobelia pretty much!

It definitely can't do stairs. The app has a multi level feature but the whole thing seems to rely on it being able to find its docking station so not sure how that's going to work!

RunningKatie · 20/03/2024 15:22

Afternoon all
I so want a robot hoover, I bet ddog would be less thrilled but someone has to clear up the dog hairs!
No real exciting news here, raining again and I've got a stomach bug. Thankfully wfh but I would love to crawl into bed for an hour.
I keep plugging away at dc2's room, aiming to shift it around over Easter so I have a lot of stealth clearing to do beforehand.

petalpower · 20/03/2024 20:01

Major news chez Petal is that DH has finally put the last of his Christmas presents away after leaving them under a chair in the sitting room for the last 3months!

SpringLobelia · 21/03/2024 12:07

Hi all.

Hope your stomach bug is soon better @RunningKatie

@petalpower DH still has one of his presents sitting next to the tv. Hmm

Hope everyone is well and all loved ones too.

I am just fiddling around with general housework. But also reviewing our travel arrangements for the easter holidays- going to Germany for a week which we are all thrilled about. All is in place but I am waiting until we hear more about DH's test results before I purchase his travel insurance. I just hope we get results soon although if not I can just say in the application we are waiting the results.

Hope everyone has a good day. !

Peridot1 · 21/03/2024 15:08

Hi all.

Well done to your DH @petalpower! DH still has some of his presents piled on a box in the study.

Hope you feel better soon @RunningKatie.

We used to have a robot vacuum cleaner when they came out first as we had just gotten our first dog and it turned out I was a bit allergic so running the robot vacuum around downstairs twice a day really made a difference. My sister has one now and loves it. They recently got the one that washes the floors too……

Hope DH gets good results @SpringLobelia.

I am trying to use the thread again in the way I started. Doing extra jobs rather than the daily grind which gets done anyway.

So today I re-potted a houseplant which has needed to be done for about two years. I finally bought a new pot that it fits. And then had to go and buy a new internal pot. It’s all done now and looks good.

Also still getting through my unpacking. A lot need re-washing as was so creased. So today I washed a few things and have already ironed the few linen tops that need ironing.

And I pulled all of the table linens out of the living room cupboard and packed the majority into a box ready to go upstairs while work is being done. And realised I have a lot!

Am also researching a new outdoor table for the new corner patio.

Have a good day all,

Aria999 · 21/03/2024 16:17

Congrats on the pot @Peridot1 that sounds like a win!

Today's task was getting my hair cut and colored. Check!

SingleThreadJoiner · 21/03/2024 21:14

Hello - I'm still here but had two days of training at work on site at the start of the week - stayed over with friendly colleagues, very lovely - but now feel like I have to cram 5 days of work in the remaining 3 - apart from general basic laundry all I've achieved 'extra' is booking the community centre for the playgroup sessions April - June - away over Easter break visiting friends and family and hoping for a proper reset when we're back - and hoping to be more present too after then - tiredly yours, SingleThreadJoiner

Aria999 · 22/03/2024 19:09

Sounds hectic @SingleThreadJoiner !

I am in danger of becoming a Robot Vacuum Bore. And possibly of getting another for upstairs!

Took DS to GP again today (during which time by pressing a button I got the downstairs all vacuumed again) and did a final couple hours work. Had some lovely comments and thanks about my work which was a great way to finish.

Have a bit of a headache now so am hiding in bed and trying to avoid the laundry folding and the tax return.
