Hi all.

@petalpower - thanks for asking. He is ok. Came home for Easter but went back to Dublin yesterday. He had an appointment with an osteopath on Monday. Apparently his shoulders are out of alignment- one is about an inch higher than the other. He’s been given some stretches to do. He also has an appointment with a neurologist in a couple of weeks.

I’ve been a bit rubbish at doing much in the house so haven’t been posting. Need to start getting motivated again!

petalpower · 07/04/2024 09:05

It’s getting very quiet around these parts! How is everyone? It’s a beautiful sunny (but windy) day here and I’m feeling inspired to get on with a few jobs. DH is going to be out most of the day so I’ve got a clear run at things. There are still the very last few finishing off jobs from our building project at the end of last year so I’m going to make a master list of jobs for each room. The carpenter is back tomorrow to do his very last tasks then it’s down to us! I really must get out in the greenhouse and get my vegetable seeds going too. It needs a jolly good clean and sort out first though.
I’m glad your son is getting some medical help @Peridot1 . Is he seeing the neurologist in Dublin? Do I remember correctly that he had some medical issues before that affected his school and uni learning?

Peridot1 · 07/04/2024 10:02

Hi @petalpower - yes you do remember correctly. He had major issues with migraines around GCSE and A Level stage. But that all got sorted thankfully. He is seeing a neurologist here in the uk. We have health insurance so it’s through that. His term finishes next week so he will come back anyway. The doctor he had an online consultation with said he thought it was chronic tension headaches and mentioned Amitriptyline as a possibility to help. But he wants him to see a neurologist first. DS wants a “preventative” which I suppose the Amitriptyline is but it will depend on the neurologist. And if he thinks it warrants further investigation. The headaches aren’t bad as such. He takes one ibuprofen and it goes in about twenty minutes. And they aren’t every day.

It is a bit quiet around here! Hope everyone is ok. DH planted seeds a few weeks ago and they are coming on well. Our greenhouse is a bit of a mess too!

I need to get back into doing lists and getting things done.

DH and I went to the garden centre yesterday for breakfast and to buy some plants. Bought a lovely patio rose and some plug plants and a few bargains. I was planning on dealing with some of them yesterday but it was really windy. So I repotted one bargain into a bowl for the outdoor table and then did a bit of sorting in the messiest shed in the world! I think I’m going to tackle that again tomorrow.

We are out for lunch today so won’t achieve much. Am about to go for a quick walk.

Have a great Sunday all.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/04/2024 18:55

Just treading water here, Petal. 😰

petalpower · 07/04/2024 19:49

I’m not surprised with two little ones at home@Mumtobabyhavoc ! Everything ok?

SpringLobelia · 07/04/2024 20:36

Hi all- sorry for silence- just got back from our trip away. I'll catch up properly but also echo @petalpower 's question. Are you okay @Mumtobabyhavoc ? Thanks

Also hope our esteemed @FrostyFogg is well.

Love to each and every one of you. Including any lurkers. ❤

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/04/2024 20:45

Thanks for asking, doing okay. ☺️ Baby was sleeping 5-7 hours at night, but is now waking 2x again. This morning it took 2 hours for me to fall asleep again. Havoc is back to gymnastics this week and is asking to go swimming...
Baby is smiling, cooing and laughing. ❤️

petalpower · 07/04/2024 21:17

Oh my word @Mumtobabyhavoc . I remember that stage of baby and toddler sibling so well. Mine are now 24 and 21 but I remember it like yesterday. It sounds like you’re doing an amazing job. Lovely to see you back too @SpringLobelia and hello to all old, new and lurking projecteers!

SpringLobelia · 08/04/2024 05:50

Morning all.

❤to you @Mumtobabyhavoc . I so well remember those early days as well. My goodness your little one must be 3 and a half months now? Baby snuggles are the best but the early months (and with a toddler!) are a relentless grind. Hope you manage some sleep. Thanks

I woke up early brooding about going back to work today after our holiday. But needs must. Just feel so lucky to have gone away.

Hope everyone is well. I am so glad that your DS is under a neurologist @Peridot1 . That is really good because I am a big believer in things being investigated and sadly all too often now things are not investigated or rushed and people not given the attention they need and deserve. Thanks

Great news on the repeat contract @Aria999 !

[waves] to everyone.

This week I hope for some sunny weather. I want to get more bushy shrubs in pots that I can pop on our terrace which is being overlooked by our neighbour (the neighbour who complains about wind sending leaves into their garden and about us feeding birds). They seem to have made it their mission to walk around and peer over our fence several times a day for reasons unknown. We have already locked both access points to our garden because of the same neighbour deciding its perfectly appropriate to come onto my property and instruct our gardeners as to what to do and prune. (Now they content themselves with shouting over the fence instead). They also send me texts saying all our other neighbours dislike us (again for reasons unknown) and I am not too far from getting police advice about harassment. I've been holding off because clearly there is something wrong with this person and I am trying to be sensitive to that but I think the time is fast approaching.

Aaaaah.... suburbia living!! My closest friend lives on 5 acres and even SHE has problems with her neighbours!!

Other than this I want to spend the summer really focusing on the garden and on our little front area. Various bits of tree removal have made the dark area of the garden lighter and now the ferns seem slightly out of place! So i need to think about that a bit.

I hope everyone is well and has a lovely week. Thanks to all.

Peridot1 · 08/04/2024 08:57

@Mumtobabyhavoc - I never had to deal with a baby and a toddler. It definitely can’t be easy! Is baby having a growth spurt maybe? Can disrupt their sleep. And of course they just like to keep us on our toes by changing the goal posts anyway don’t they?

@SpringLobelia - your neighbour sounds like a right pain. It must be so difficult to have issues with neighbours. Do you know if anyone else has similar issues with the same people?

I need to get back to my lists. Nothing is getting done! I need a brain dump list again so will do that later. For now though:

Today:

  • dishwasher on (done)
  • washing
  • gym
  • fold laundry
  • vacuum

Extra task is positioning moth traps and repellents around upstairs as we seem to have quite a few little moths so I need to get rid and investigate if there is damage. So I think a spring clean of upstairs is on the cards.

Also want to pot on the plug plants I bought.

Have a great day all.

petalpower · 08/04/2024 10:14

We have moths too @Peridot1 and they are the bane of my life. We have the pheromone traps in each room
but the little blighters have munched through carpets and clothes galore.

petalpower · 08/04/2024 10:14

Sorry for the multiple posts!!

Peridot1 · 08/04/2024 11:20

@petalpower - they are a nightmare aren’t they? We’ve never had so many. I’m afraid to investigate too much in case they are everywhere.

SpringLobelia · 08/04/2024 12:27

Hi @Peridot1 yes the neighbours on the other side to us have not spoken to this person for 30 years and just roll their eyes and mutter under their breath when his name is mentioned. The neighbours on his other side used to be friendly but now are not speaking but I don't know why.

Re moths- We had a massive infestation and got Indorex online. You spray, then leave in a ventilated space for a few hours then vacuum. It does the trick but has to be repeated at strategic intervals for a while. We found you have to really spray underneath things like beds and bookcases etc because otherwise it just doesn't get them all. Now whenever we are away for a few days I literally spray everything on the way out the door and leave then vac when I get back.

SpringLobelia · 08/04/2024 12:28

I mean .. spray but leave the windows open for a few hours. Of course if we are going to be away we dispense with the open windows but if we spray when we are still in the house we ventilate - if that makes sense.

petalpower · 08/04/2024 12:59

That sounds a real pain with your neighbours @SpringLobelia . We’re very lucky with ours fortunately.
I’m motoring through the jobs today:

  • car taken to garage for suspension to be fixed and hopefully they will also MOT it at the same time saving me a trip later in the week
  • taken glass recycling and two old pairs of DH’s work boots (got them out of the house before he changed his mind!)
  • post office trip to send two parcels
  • swept the utility room that was beyond grim due to our muddy dog
I had a bit of a moan at DH the other day about his procrastination and ignoring of little jobs that literally take 5 minutes. This morning he had all the keys from our pot out when I got back from dropping the car at the garage and was busy sorting them out as we have lots of unidentifiable ones and ones for doors and locks long gone. We now only have current keys and have stashed away the spare duplicate ones in a safe place.
Peridot1 · 08/04/2024 15:58

Well I have now put moth traps in every bedroom and one in the airing cupboard. I can see some of the little buggers flying around upstairs. I think I will spend tomorrow doing a bit of a spring clean upstairs.

@SpringLobelia I will bear your tips in mind about the Indorex.

Also channeled my inner Alan Titchmarsh and potted on most of the plug plants we bought on Saturday. Some more to do tomorrow.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/04/2024 16:10

Petal, Peridot, Spring
Yes, likely a growth spurt. Little one will also nurse every hour to 90mins in the afternoon and evening. 🥱

The moths mentioned freak. Me. Out. Now that I have a bagless vacuum I have a conundrum because I'd vacuum and toss the bag out. Now, when I want to vacuum up a bug of some sort it's still crawling/flapping around in the canister much to my absolute horror. I've considered tossing the entire vacuum when that happens. If I had a moth infestation I'd be tempted to move 😂

The key sorting is a good accomplishment! Well done hubby! I did that and felt quite relieved, but also wondered if I'd thrown away anything important...🤫
Almost threw away safety deposit box key. Luckily, thought to hold onto it thinking it looked important!

Managed to clean the bathroom and wash the floor last night before getting dc ready for bed. That was a win.
Also re-organized a corner of kitchen counter that has canisters, a vase and a Dutch oven. I need to make space for the pot in the cupboard, but that necessitates a new shelf being installed. Add to list.

Horror 2nd bedroom is also on said list.

petalpower · 08/04/2024 19:38

@Peridot1 we used some moth killing smoke bombs in the past that were quite good. @Mumtobabyhavoc im always amazed at what you achieve with such a young family.
I still haven’t planted any vegetable seeds and my greenhouse is a dreadful mess but hopefully I’ll get to remedy that situation sometime this week. Anyway jobs accomplished today:

  • car is now fixed and it was they also did the MOT which saves a job on Wednesday
  • dog blankets and sofa throws washed
  • ironing all done and put away
  • prescription picked up
RunningKatie · 08/04/2024 20:56

Evening all!
Crazy busy day in the office today, tomorrow I am off work with the dc - we are off to a VIP event. Dc2 hasn't showered in a week so needs a deep clean before being allowed out in civilised society.
I've paid for dog boarding and tennis lessons, tomorrow I need to collect a prescription, order some PE leggings and maybe climb Mount Ironing.
I think we've agreed on some new garden furniture but I want to mark the space out to check it's not going to completely fill the patio.
We live in the north with a north facing garden so I'm wibbling about buying something expensive that will just sit unused in the rain!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/04/2024 22:47

Petal, it's tidy and clean, but I've got things hidden as well... 🤫
Katie, your exercise is inspiring. I've just barely started back.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/04/2024 01:10

I've done a bit of a blitz:
fresh bedsheets, pulled out said bed and steam mopped floor then steam mopped rest of floor in bedroom; steam-mopped rest of floors; both area rugs; baby car seat; diaper bag; and two pairs of runners. Used wand vacuum to vacuum out closet and around/behind dresser in another bedroom; vacuumed chair, cushion and sheepskin rug. Done.
Then swaddled baby and took pic and sent to friend who gifted the swaddling blanket. Done again. 😅

SpringLobelia · 09/04/2024 06:48

Morning everyone- hope all are well.

I am about to head for B&Q to buy some shrubs and pots to hopefully prettify the patio. Then I need to get alot of washing done. I love the phrase 'Climb Mount Ironing' @RunningKatie ! I have that on the agenda as well.

Best wishes to all.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/04/2024 07:02

Katie & Spring: I completely missed that joke! I was going to google Mt Ironing to see elevation! 🤣🤣🤣
