Morning all!

Welcome back @thenewaveragebear1983 !!

Hemming curtains is so very far out of my abilities so I am in awe.

I need to take the Dcs swimming and then wash and iron all their uniform for next week. Put out my work clothes as well. If i do it all on Saturday I feel like I can relax a bit.

Then i need to plan some daily project achievements. I've lost my mojo on that front a bit. Watch this space!

Hope all is well. @petalpower I hope so much that your aunt is okay. She has had such a rough time lately, as indeed have you. ❤

have a lovely weekend everyone.

petalpower · 09/03/2024 08:54

Thank you @SpringLobelia . Auntie is till very sleepy and not responding to very much but yesterday she enjoyed a pot of chocolate custard that I fed her and pretended to play the violin when I put Classic FM on the radio so I’ll take that as progress. I also managed to get her glasses fixed as the nose support had somehow got bent during her time in hospital. As she was asleep for so much of my visit yesterday I managed to do a few jobs whilst I was there - ordered a pair of jeans as I had a 15% off offer for M and S, ordered my vegetable seeds, bought a voucher for my godson’s birthday and added some Prosecco to our online supermarket order as a thank you for friends who are looking after Petaldog for the day when we go to a funeral next week.
It’s a really beautiful spring morning here and Petaldog and I had a lovely walk across the fields. I need to make some rolls for a village event I’m helping to run over lunchtime and the supermarket delivery is due any time. I must get myself moving.
Have a good day everyone!

FrostyFroggy · 09/03/2024 11:19

👋 everyone!

I have done one wash/dry laundry cycle, and cleaned the washing machine, which is now running a hot maintenance wash (it was a bit niffy!)

We went out for a family breakfast as it is a birthday weekend, and it was packed with other families doing the same. It was lovely!

I am awaiting a grocery delivery (husband currently at supermarket!) so the fridge is ready and the floor and worktops have been mopped.

I hope you all have a happy and productive day 💐

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/03/2024 14:58

I have done the curtains! Hurrah!

and purchased some glue for my next little task, sticking down some edges of peeling wallpaper in the hallway. I may try to do this tomorrow or one day in the week. It will take literally 5 minutes.

FrostyFroggy · 09/03/2024 17:04

Well done @thenewaveragebear1983 ! I only touch curtains to draw them or (very occasionally) wash them, so I am impressed!

It's such a good feeling to get those 5 min jobs out the way isn't it?

It's been such a lovely springy day here today! I have been out in it most of the afternoon and now i am going to make soup from last week's old veg (known on this thread as smug soup)

I have made plans to sit in front of the telly this evening with a glass of wine and a box of mother's day chocolates that i might accidentally have opened a day early!

lucysmam · 09/03/2024 18:24

Today's job was to wash allll the make up brushes in the house - done apart from dd1's. Her room is a death trap & I'm not risking my life for them! Some were disgusting 🙈

I've been to town alone, treated myself to two lippys. One red, and one neutral for work.

Will pop in tomorrow with a list for the week.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/03/2024 00:14

Hi, Everyone. ☺️
We've all been sick, so not a lot to report. Luckily, just a cold. (Have had more than our share of the bad ones.)
I did sort Havoc's dresser and put too-small clothes I'm not keeping for baby aside. Now have 2 diaper boxes packed with clothes to donate, however, the organizer side in me wants to re-pack and separate by size better.
Did a deep clean of bathroom this morning and started laundry at 6:30am since I was up with baby anyway.

Petal, keeping you and your dear aunty in my thoughts.

As always, feeling inspired by everyone's achievements and enjoying the snippets shared. 🥰

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/03/2024 02:19

And happy Mothering Sunday, UK mums! 🌺

FrostyFroggy · 10/03/2024 07:18

I am going to bet that DD1 is a young teen @lucysmam? I have memories of some pretty horrible bedrooms but they are distant past now, thankfully. Everyone has places of their own now, and they are all safe (and quite pleasant) to enter!

Happy Mother's Day! 💐 I'm not a big keeper of sentimental things but I have kept a few cards from when my children were little and they do raise a smile looking at those baby signatures. My mum's more or less housebound so I have bought a little basket display of spring flowers for her to look at.

I hope you are all on the up now @Mumtobabyhavoc Our littlest family member is at nursery and brings a new bug home every week!

Only three weeks till clock change! Just as we are getting lighter mornings which are lovely. Worth it though!

Today:
A trip to tip with some garden stuff
Cooking a roast between me and DH
Will take mum her flowers and help her with a few bits.
A walk on the beach this afternoon, if the rain holds off.
I have a kitchen drawer that I might do as a daily project.

Have a great day everyone 😊

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/03/2024 07:47

Frosty 🐸have def turned the corner , although dc are in the weeds still. Both feel warm/hot, but without fever. Havoc hasn't eaten much today, but did eat fruit which will help with hydration and went to sleep without protest this evening.
I got an energy burst around 10:30pm and steam cleaned floors and walls in hallway.
Planning on making an apple pie tomorrow.
Clocks go ahead overnight, so I'd better get to bed...
Enjoy your beach walk. ☺️

lucysmam · 10/03/2024 10:01

Happy Mothers Day to those of you celebrating 💐

@FrostyFogg she's not far off 18! Sometimes it's tidy and calm in there, others it's utter chaos. This is an utter chaos week 🙄 I'm resisting the urge to sort it - my room was dreadful as a teen but I knew exactly which bit of floor space what I wanted was on when I wanted it!

Today's job is order a loo roll holder and a hand towel ring for the upstairs bathroom. They're in my basket, I was just waiting for a discount code or free delivery 🤣. Might also sort the kitchen shit drawer but probably won't.

FrostyFroggy · 10/03/2024 11:28

You are one of us @lucysmam 🎉
'I might but I probably won't' could be our little groups mantra 😂 Well some of us anyway 😎

When i was teenage and till i left home, my bedroom floor had to be clear once a fortnight for the cleaner to hoover 🙈Spoilt child alert! I had no notion of how to clean and tidy when I got married. Mum is what flylady refers to as born organised and everything was done as if by magic. Dd had been diagnosed with adhd and autism and we do share many traits, particularly overwhelm. Flylady has saved us both!

I am unexpectedly off out for brunch with my girls, who husbands are dealing with their own mothers, so dh is in charge of prep for our roast ( have to still do it as promised my mum some, and DH will be hungry even if I'm not!)

Love to all xx

SpringLobelia · 10/03/2024 11:49

Morning all!

You are deffo one of us @lucysmam . I really wanted to wash and iron school uniform yesterday. [Listens to school shirts whirring in washing machine as we speak].

Have a lovely day out with your girls @FrostyFroggy !

Hope you got some sleep @Mumtobabyhavoc

DH is out all day doing his hobby. The Dcs and I have just come back from a raid of Sainsburys and we have chocolate and popcorn and doritos and an afternoon of netflix planned. Watching Dune. At some point I will iron said school shirts. DCs have taken the opportunity of it being Mothers day to say I could not possibly cook the roast I had planned and of course they must get takeaway for dinner. Happily our local chippie does gluten free Sundays so I'm going with it.

RunningKatie · 10/03/2024 11:51

Morning all, quite a chilled one today, washing on. Weather forecast is not great so we'll go for a damp dog walk later, the dcs will be dragged along even if I have to play the "you must as it's Mothers day" card.
I'm having a bit of a sort out as I've got a free hour this week so can do a charity shop drop off. They have a container in the car park so I literally drive in, empty the car and leave. No dealing with people needed, bliss!
Other than that dc2 and ddog are both a bit under the weather, but dc2 and I are going to bake dog treats so hoping that cheers them both up.
Happy weekend all.

lucysmam · 10/03/2024 12:56

@RunningKatie I'm playing the "it's Mothers Day" card shortly. I bought 221b Baker St at Christmas but no-one ever wants to play with me...so today they will 🤣

FrostyFroggy · 10/03/2024 14:03

Oh well played @SpringLobelia! Enjoy your chippy tea! Good to hear you have not let the side down with your belatedly washed school shirts 😎
I think I probably used to use mother's day as an excuse to make the children to things with me. A good friend of mine used the day to get her husband to take the children out for the day on his own, so she could have peace and quiet. Harsh but very understandable 😂 It was most fun in our house when littlies scampered about making me breakfast in bed, and all the fun of getting bits and bobs from them.
I was surprised to get a message from DS this morning as he's in a country where they don't do it. I was even more surprised to take delivery of a beautiful boxed orchid just after I got back from my lovely meal out.

I hope dog and child cheer up and feel better for a walk @RunningKatie We've decided against the beach as it's raining and we've already walked to the nice little tea room for our brunch. Persuaded DH to pick us up though 😊

So i have a coffee, a cat and the crossword for an hour or so, and then will get dinner going.

lucysmam · 10/03/2024 14:48

Yay! I won 221b today 🥳 I actually think dd2 had it solved long before me too 🤣

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/03/2024 20:29

I’ve had a successful weekend, I hemmed my curtains yesterday and today I put some things in the loft, I sorted Ds’s clothes out and stuck down the edges of the hall wallpaper. I need to retouch the wallpaper tomorrow.

I also made a project plan for my next project. I need to paint my kitchen but it will require a fair bit of prep so I have broken it all down into tasks.

SingleThreadJoiner · 11/03/2024 12:34

Agh, my last post was on a previous page, so much to catch up on that...I won't even try 😆

But - @lucysmam we are going in London in August and trying not to be too excited already....though there will definitely not be any jacket-beading over here, completely out of my skillset range!

@SpiritOfEdna I am so glad you shared a pic of SpiritDoggo, I wanted to ask but was too shy!

and @SpringLobelia I am definitely on your team with the school uniform washing, somehow I didn't do it last weekend so on Saturday I found myself vanishing and washing and drying 9 t-shirts (one was hiding from me!) and an unspecified number of trousers and socks...

Other than that, playdates on both Saturday and Sunday were had (one hosted by us, one at a friend's), and more laundry was done and put away - but nothing else of note.

Happy Monday!

SpiritOfEdna · 11/03/2024 14:57

@SingleThreadJoiner I am shameless in sharing doggo photos. She rolled in something at the weekend - she wasn't so adorable then! When I win the lottery she is getting her own bathroom :-). 😄
Today

  • put tools back in shed
  • send photos to new electrician
  • contacted a company who look after graves - went yesterday to mums and it is looking shabby; it needs new kerbs (I never knew the edgings were called that) and it is leaning back slightly.
  • hire a rug doctor thing for the next long weekend - or for when I take a day off.
  • rescued the car dent repairer message from junk mail (I will stop cursing them now) and contact them to sort out my (erm) parking dings.
that is all for today, have a good one, SoE.
RunningKatie · 11/03/2024 16:51

Today I've rewritten my to-do list, which has helped focus the mind. Paid for swimming lessons, tried to call the GP but it was closed for lunch, sorted more stuff for charity shop drop off - 3 big bags now.
I'm also quietly decluttering the dc's bedrooms. Only 2 mins here and there, and there's currently no obvious difference yet but hopefully over time they'll become clearer.

FrostyFroggy · 12/03/2024 14:52

Hi all 👋
I am having a bit of a cook-in this afternoon after being out in this wild wet weather all morning.
I have a plan to organise the freezer shelves but just taking a breather.
Never did do the kitchen drawer so will go and do that immediately!
Out for dinner with a few friends tonight. DH was going to go and watch football but I think he's decided against it ( may be off anyway)
@RunningKatie I have learnt that those two minute jobs really make a difference 😊

RunningKatie · 13/03/2024 09:42

Wfh day today, the washing machine and dishwasher were on before I started, and dc2 swept the kitchen through.
Today I need to call the GP and I want to tackle some paperwork.
The start of dinner tonight is being prepared in a food tech lesson today so this is an excellent bonus!
Hope everyone's ok.

FrostyFroggy · 14/03/2024 07:17

Morning! Sounds like a good day @RunningKatie. I hope you got through to your GP.
I have some ad-hoc work this week, so of course I have come down with a hefty head cold, and am living off beechams max.
I am maintaining basic home routines which pleases me, but I have last night's washing up and a bed to change before i leave the house. Poor old DH is down with it too. He is working slowly from home. He has a health condition which causes fatigue at the best of times, but does not normally make a fuss, so I'm trying to persuade him to take the day off.
Siblings are on mother duty so hoping nobody else gets the bug!
I must get showered and on with the day.

Besr wishes to you all 💐

SingleThreadJoiner · 14/03/2024 10:57

Happy Thursday everyone! Yesterday was an in-person work day, so two-and-a-half round trip in the car, but pleasingly hardly any traffic and lots of fun singing loudly to myself to whatever my phone's shuffle served up 😆

But hopelessly behind on all household tasks, though I did manage to bring to the recycling a bag of batteries that had been sitting by the front door for MONTHS, and I am about to pay the red nose day donation for school.

I hope @RunningKatie 's GP finally answers the phone, and that everyone feels better soon chez @FrostyFroggy !
