Morning!

Hope your cold is very soon better @Frostandfrogs ! I have just done a cutlery drawer inspired by you!

Microsoft teams [ shudder]. Thankfully I don't have to do any of that very often nowadays- usually just for AGMs. You sound busy @Peridot1 !

I have already;

  • cleaned cutlery drawer
  • cleaned one shelf in little fridge
  • cleaned one shelf in big fridge

I am about to iron one load and then the rest of the day will be in the garden.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Frostandfrogs · 18/07/2024 07:33

Well done! I've been known to do a thing just so I've got something to post, so it does work.
When I'm on a roll I do boiling the kettle jobs - a small thing that takes moments, but will stay done for a while.
Off to take my own advice...brb!

I have a habit of putting an item already done onto my 'To Do' list just so I can enjoy drawing a line through it. Grin

Aria999 · 18/07/2024 12:17

Great job on the cutlery draw @Frostandfrogs ! I tracked the client down eventually after I reminded him that if I can't make changes by Friday it will have to wait until mid August.

The a/c got repaired then promptly broke again a few hours later. So today's task is also to get the a/c fixed ☹️

SpiritOfEdna · 18/07/2024 13:33

@Mumtobabyhavoc we managed to get it in the supermarket, they must have had a restock post the football (although can't imagine Limoncello was a first choice for a football supporter 😄) Busy work day and the new Donna Leon is out today - maybe I'll use it as a carrot to get some cleaning done before I can sit down with a book...

Today is a more bunting day:

  • All the letters have been cut out and sewn, 5 letters to go to add an orange border on and then assembly
  • I need to stop dithering about a broken hob and properly research a replacement
  • order an outfit for the SpiritDoggo for Saturday 😄She will wear it for all of 2 seconds and then it will offend her dignity and it'll be off. Worth it for a photo
  • walk SpiritDoggo at some point this afternoon
  • find out what time am expected for setting up bbq on Saturday so can plan accordingly
That's all for today, SoE.
Ineedtokeepmoving · 18/07/2024 13:58

Good to hear everyone’s projects. Not a good day today, my husband told me to make sure I include rest on today’s projects. So far i have

  • done 45 mins of physio (knackering)
  • eaten a healthy lunch
  • had a nap
Before I go to the dentist later i want to also do
  • cut my hair (with clippers, already v short, but clearing up feels a big task)
  • have a shower
  • post some late birthday cards
  • check my new plants are ok
@SpiritOfEdna i used to love Donna Leon, thanks for the reminder about her, going use that as my carrot too 😍
SummerLobelia · 18/07/2024 14:03

Oddly enough @Ineedtokeepmoving I was watching a youtube video (one of my faves, The Daily Connoisseur' and she also mentioned scheduling in rest as an imperative. Good shout. Smile

I will check out a Donna Leon.

CountingCrones · 18/07/2024 14:29

Still punting vacuuming into the long grass.

I have done two loads of washing and pegged it out, got through some very lengthy and tedious admin I’d been putting off, tidied the kitchen, ordered repeat prescriptions and sorted some financial things out.

I’m taking a book into the garden for a bit.

RunningKatie · 18/07/2024 18:37

Another load of washing out and dried, it's such a relief getting it out of the house and on the line to dry.
I need to get out in the garden to straighten that up so it can be used in the summer holidays.
Paid a bill, chased someone up that I need info on for the weekend - starting to panic a bit about that.
I need to write a plan for the holidays, I've got days off and ideas, but none of it is written down and I'm probably being overly ambitious as always!

SpiritOfEdna · 19/07/2024 12:41

Morning still on bunting duty - nearly finished - I ran out of thread!!!!!! Have been impacted on my laptop by the global outage so am taking advantage to get some other stuff done - will pay for it when we are back up and running though!
Today

  • finish bunting
  • Tidy away all the sewing things - although I have the bug now
  • SpiritDoggo needs a long walk and a bath and the floors need de-mudding. Fortunately her outfit from Amazon is still arriving today
That’s all for today, SoE
Peridot1 · 19/07/2024 13:06

@SummerLobelia - I regularly add things already done to my list so I can cross them off!

Busy day yesterday. Got ironing done in the morning. House was busy with things happening. DH had a meeting late morning outside the pub and as I predicted he called me to come over for lunch as it was such a lovely day. So we had a nice lunch and a couple of drinks and then came home and did nothing else all day!

Today I have unpacked my Amazon Prime day delivery. Been to the shop for a few bits. Did a load of washing and hung it out. Washed a mattress protector and hung that out. Packed all the double bed sized bedding that DS brought pack into one of my Amazon purchases - a zipped storage bag. Did the dishwasher.

Need to vacuum. And then sit in the garden with my book.

SummerLobelia · 19/07/2024 13:10

garden and book sounds great! I have done very little so far. Had a medical appointment, met a friend for coffee.

Now watching Psycho with DS1 who has made it his summer mission to watch as many classic films as possible for the summer. It's a goal I can get behind! I am going to do some ironing while watching - but need to finish my prosecco first. Blush Grin

SummerLobelia · 19/07/2024 13:11

... DS has just told me that the next film to watch will be 'A Night To Remember'.

I'll try and get us out into the sunny day at some point.......

RunningKatie · 19/07/2024 14:12

My summer mission is to learn how get up from the floor without putting my hands down, I heard a Van Tuelleken brothers podcast about it and thought it sounded like a skill I could do with learning! Also helps with overall agility and I'm aware I'm getting creaky. I fell over yesterday and really hit my knee hard. So stupid and clumsy but a bit of a wake up call.
Last day of school, I offered to walk down to fetch dc2 but they declined. Bit sad about that but they need their freedom too.
The microsoft outage has hit me too @SpiritOfEdna - can't get on websites to download reports so I'm updating processes instead. Such fun!

SummerLobelia · 19/07/2024 14:16

That's a great summer mission :@RunningKatie ! I heard that programme as well. I might think of something similar..... i was thinking about doing a Pilates youtube video if I can find one that is suitably short.

Frostandfrogs · 19/07/2024 15:06

Busted 😂
I am pleased that my shining cutlery drawer has inspired you to to yours!

Frostandfrogs · 19/07/2024 15:12

Very coldy today, and had to cancel a few things as the coughing is awful! Night nurse helped me sleep last night but it's left me all out of sorts today 😔 Definitely for emergencies only! I've cancelled some weekend plans.
I ironed something yesterday @Peridot1 It's a rare occurrence.
You do sound busy....we'll tbf anyone is busier than me today!
I've spent a lot of it with my nose in a book or doing puzzles I've changed the bedding and done some washing up. Lovely DH is doing his bit around wfh.

Our of steam to do much tagging but 👋 all!

Frostandfrogs · 19/07/2024 15:15

@RunningKatie I'm sorry about your knee! The pain can make you feel sick. What was the podcast?
I can get up minus hands if I go onto my knees...does that count?
Last time I tried it without doing that I put my back out for a week! Dangerous pastime!

SummerLobelia · 19/07/2024 15:20

I tried the getting up without hands thing and there was absolutely no way. I could not even get onto my knees.

So i am going to get another glass of prosecco then try again.

Hope you feel better soon @Frostandfrogs Thanks And hope your knee is okay @RunningKatie !

(I have spent a fair bit of time while watching Psycho googling the wierd stuff on temu and sending links to various friends. The latest was silcon butt enhancers.

I probably ought to do something more useful tbh.....

Frostandfrogs · 19/07/2024 15:30

That's exactly the sort of thing I do @SummerLobelia You know when people ask how you are and what you've been doing, and you can't think what to say. But you've been ever so busy sending links to family and friends
This is why this thread is useful

A) Normalises the daft things we do

B) Makes us iron a tee shirt or sweep a patio and feel Invincible 💪

SummerLobelia · 19/07/2024 15:46
Grin

Yep.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/07/2024 06:57

Glad you got you limoncello, SoE. I was in Costco the other day and I saw limoncello biscotti and thought of you! (and very sneaky to stock them on the end of the aisle just before check-out!)

Nothing extraordinary here. It has been quite warm so motivation has decreased. Although, I have been getting out to take advantage of various summer things with dc: splash park, wading pool, Summer Movie Night at the art gallery (last night), Greek fest, Latin fest .... doing a lot. On the home front have been keeping afloat by doing chores late evening when dc are asleep and it's cooler. Have got 2nd load of laundry in right now and dishwasher on. Might do a third load if still feeling awake one this one is done. Going to have a slice of cake and mull it over. Oh, did begin a bit of admin today as well. 😁

Frostandfrogs · 20/07/2024 07:24

I'm curious to know whether a glass of wine helps or hinders one's ability to get up off the floor #muses 🤔

You are such a busy bee @Mumtobabyhavoc! I saw a sign advertising an outdoor movie screening locally, so inspired by you I have just looked it up. It is the Bob Marley film One Love. Might go and see that 😊

How is our Petal? I expect you have hands full with your family 💐

I hope LO is on the mend in time for her party @SingleThreadJoiner and the bunting goes down well @SpiritOfEdna

I am very much on a go slow these last couple of days. It was hot here yesterday, and I'm still full of cold and the two things don't mix. I'm grateful that the weekend is looking a bit cooler, though hopefully still a bit of sunshine. I mean a sunny 21c would suit most of us? Yesterday's 29c came out of nowhere!

Today: chuck some food waste from fridge. I got some leftovers out of freezer and promptly did nothing with them. And now it's too late. I hate waste but get caught out every now and again.

Sort a clothing drawer out and a drawer in a bureau that gets ignored because it's hard to get at.

Otherwise, I plan a lazy day. Am keeping my family at bay with my germs today, so just DH and me here.

Happy weekend everyone 🍵 🍪

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/07/2024 08:17

🐸🐸🐸Sorry you're (still?) feeling sick. If you do manage the movie I'd love to know your thoughts. I'd forgotten about that one and want to see it, too!
It's feeling much cooler here atm. Just have one fan on right now blowing towards to door to remove warner air inside and can feel cooler air circulating. 👍
Third load of laundry just finished, so will hang that up, do a few exercises and go to bed. I did eat a slice of cake while reading MN since last my last post. Had a bit of a chuckle re a rude post telling someone to shove it up their arse. Reminded me of my dad who would've said arse and not ass and you don't hear that anymore as the latter is common use. 😊

Peridot1 · 20/07/2024 09:39

Morning all.

Sorry you are still feeling full of cold @Frostandfrogs.

Ouch to the knee @RunningKatie.

I like your DS’s plan re watching classic movies @SummerLobelia - I should do similar. And I especially like your drinking Prosecco in the afternoon plan too!

As always you put me to shame @Mumtobabyhavoc with your lists of achievements.

No ironing done here yesterday as it was too hot. I did get a lot of washing done and dried. We did a bit of sorting to get the living room back in order after the decorator had painted the wall where the door had been blocked up. And then had a few hours in the garden reading my book. Which was lovely.

Much cooler here today. No major plans. More washing. Might plant some geraniums I bought weeks ago. Need to vacuum. And do the kitchen which is a bit cluttered.

Have a great Saturday all.

SingleThreadJoiner · 20/07/2024 19:26

Hi everyone. Not a great week - H & I also caught covid and it's hit me particularly bad, I've had a miserable few days. Still in the midst of it. D's party has been relocated from hall to park and some people have stepped in to help so hopefully it won't be a complete disaster, but it's all been quite stressful and hectic. Hope to resume normal service soon.
