Not much to report here. Hot today, so lazy me... have vacuumed this evening, folded/put away clothes hanging since Saturday... done a load of laundry and just popped another in. I have so much hidden that is nagging at me, calling, taunting, cajoling, really.

Frostandfrogs · 16/07/2024 08:18

Good morning from my bed. I have gone down with germs overnight 🤒 I blame littlest who will bring all these stowaways from nursery! I'm hoping I can emulate her by being snotty and grumpy for a day then bounce back 🙏
I think i might write down the scone recipes, and the pizza ones from earlier in the thread.

And do a brain dump as per @Peridot1

I had two social things on today which had already been cancelled due to other people, so I'm embracing a day of doing not much. Awaiting not one but three new (old) books from World Of Books today. And a waterproof coat from Mountain Warehouse. Recently discovered the hard way that my other one is only showerproof.

Hello @SummerLobelia are you back with us yet?

I hope Neice had a lovely birthday @SpiritOfEdna

I've just remembered the gardener is coming today and I was supposed to pick up some compost for him. I shall see if DH will go in his lunch hour.

A model of exemplary end of term parenting @RunningKatie Well done! I bet you can't wait till next week when things settle. Hope the DC are loving it though!

👋 and 💐 to all and have a good day!

Peridot1 · 16/07/2024 09:44

That’s a shame that you are germy @Frostandfrogs. Hope you feel better. A day in bed with new books sounds good though!

I didn’t do any ironing yesterday as fell asleep on the sofa after lunch for an hour and then couldn’t be bothered. So that’s today’s task.

Also spent a lot of yesterday looking at news and stuff on Twitter/X about violent protests in Dublin which were right where I grew up. In fact in some coverage the riot squad was by our old house. Very glad Dad is not there to have seen it.

DH’s weekly supermarket shop has been delivered and out away. We have a ton of bread items as he forgot to delete stuff. 🙄

Have a good day all.

SingleThreadJoiner · 16/07/2024 10:08

Morning everyone

@Frostandfrogs World of Books is so great isn't it! And so dangerous 😁

I was feeling pretty accomplished yesterday, have sorted almost everything for D's 5th birthday party on Sunday, collected the money for the teacher presents, had done lots of tidying of the house.... This morning D woke up with covid (not entirely surprising - we have guests since the time and one of them tested positive yesterday, we moved out to other accommodation as soon as we could but clearly it was too late). So now she is missing most of the last week of school and we are just desperately hoping she will be well enough for her birthday party......... Gah gah gah

Frostandfrogs · 16/07/2024 10:41

@SingleThreadJoiner oh mate!! How frustrating. I hope little one doesn't feel too poorly and that you don't catch it.
I normally test for covid as I had plenty of tests due to my job and had a couple of boxes left over ( testing daily then twice weekly for several years) As far as I'm aware I've never had covid, so sod's law says now I'm out of tests, that that is what it is. I shall keep away from people anyway, and certainly my mother. Hope DD has a lovely birthday and that the party can go ahead 🤞

@Peridot1 it's lethal nodding off at that time of day isn't it? I always end up feeling out of sorts till teatime. The riots must have dredged up a lot of feelings for you too 💐

SpiritOfEdna · 16/07/2024 14:11

Afternoon.
Flowers to everyone with lurgies and otherwise.Rest up! SpiritDoggo is snoozing next to me, I am very envious.
Still on bunting duty; Niece had a lovely birthday (I think) but we had a mass sing-a-long of happy birthday, so all good. Busy work day today, but need to do a bit of tidying around
Today:

  • do another corner of the bedroom, one pristine one is putting all the others to shame!
  • tidy up all the shoes, bags, cups, cutlery - all the clutter in the living room and kitchen
  • I need to go and knock next door to pick up a delivery - I might make sibling do it when home from work 😄
That's all for now, have a good day all, SoE
Ineedtokeepmoving · 16/07/2024 15:05

Hello all, mind if I join you, I have just discovered you. I need some motivation to do stuff around the house. I don’t work because of health issues, and then I get low, and that compounds what doesn’t get done.
Since seeing this thread I'm trying to do what someone else suggested (thanks to whoever it was), which is do one thing inside and one thing in the jungle garden. Today I have done some washing and drying, I’ll sweep a bit of the patio too.
I may not check in very often, I’m trying to not spend my day on mn…

Frostandfrogs · 16/07/2024 15:14

@SpiritOfEdna Pleased that DN had a good birthday. I'm confused about the bunting - is the party yet to happen?

Welcome welcome @Ineedtokeepmoving you do sound like one of us! You could use a daily/regular posting as accountability? I have an awful habit of posting what I plan to do, and still not doing it 😳 But more things are getting done since this thread, as there's a bit of community spirit 😊

Gardener has been and gone, and true to his word has left me 'homework'. I'm still feeling a bit nqr despite a lazy morning, but I'm about to make a bolognaise and possibly some savoury muffins. I may even sweep my patio too!

Frostandfrogs · 16/07/2024 15:23

Pleased with myself because I used my lazy morning to order some indoor shoes because I have plantar fasciitis and can no longer walk around in just socks as I did for the first 55 years. Decent shoes at all times make such a difference! Also emailed accountant and made two appointments, and did a diary transfer for appointments for various family members ( particularly mother but it's helpful to know what DH is up to as well)

Right time to stop waffling and do something useful!

SpiritOfEdna · 16/07/2024 15:32

@Frostandfrogs DN is in Cornwall and just had her birthday yesterday, this coming weekend is my sister's birthday and we are having a surprise bbq in her daughter's garden. November is normally busy birthday season in our (big) family, but July birthday's have been very prominent xx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/07/2024 18:01

Good morning, all. 🤗 It's a beautiful morning here. Feeling a bit tired after getting to bed late. Felt obligated to rinse the deck off as a last task.
Sorry to hear you've come down with something dear Froggy. 🐸 Littles are petri dishes. We're pretty much sick every month with Havoc at school and any close contact activity. I read to expect an avg of 10-14 illnesses per year at 10-14 days per once they begin school/day care. Lovely. Get well soon. 💐

Sounds like everyone is off to the races puttering. 👏
I'm quite liking the sound of a lawnmower and smell of fresh cut grass right now; US tv news on so I am in the political news loop re our southern neighbours; feeling smug about laundry drying on deck; just finished my cold foam latte and croissant with chocolate spread and strawberries (decadent); baby asleep in my lap; Havoc has wiped nose "All by myself, Mummy"; and I'm contemplating a Costco run...
As always, though, loving your updates here in our lovely community. 💕

Aria999 · 16/07/2024 20:16

Hi all!

Sorry to hear you are not well @Frostandfrogs , get better soon! And to your DD @SingleThreadJoiner , what upsetting timing, hope she is ok!

lol re extra bread @Peridot1 . That's the kid of thing I do. Bread at least normally can be frozen then made into toast.

Hi @Ineedtokeepmoving welcome!

Why limoncello specifically @SpiritOfEdna ? Cocktail recipe? It is gorgeous when so cold it's nearly frozen but otherwise I don't love it.

Sounds nice @Mumtobabyhavoc !

Aria999 · 16/07/2024 20:20

I have been working very intensely and now suddenly I am nearly finished, I just have a few last queries, and my client has gone radio silent on me. So I'm kind of in limbo as if I start doing anything then I may miss a message from him.

It's super hot here (31c) and this morning our a/c stopped working. Can't get the engineer out till tomorrow. Can't go buy a standing fan because my client might call.

DH blitzed the house yesterday as we were away over the weekend and then I had to work. It looks very nice. He is more efficient at it than I am.

On Monday we are setting out on our annual summer UK trip. I'm sure there is loads I need to do before then but not sure what!

RunningKatie · 16/07/2024 21:14

Hope all the poorly people are feeling better soon, particularly small people with weekend birthdays @SingleThreadJoiner
Covid's tearing through our work, so lots of people are off or working from home.
I've had a busy day, appt for dd first thing then back for school. Tomorrow we've got leavers assembly for dc2 and awards evening for dc1. We're parental tag teaming it as we can't be in two places at once, poor ddog will all lonesome at home.
Then I'm really on end of term countdown, I've got a stack of work to do by 3pm on Fri, followed by a week off. Bliss!

SpiritOfEdna · 16/07/2024 21:29

@Aria999 it's for a limoncello spritz - limoncello, Prosecco and club soda x

Aria999 · 16/07/2024 21:43

That does sound nice!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/07/2024 05:14

SoE, I'm quite interested why you can't buy it easily. Don't you have liquor stores that sell beer/wine/cider/coolers/spirits? We have that plus beer & wine shops and wine only shops. Our liquor stores are gov't run and some are private with higher prices.

CountingCrones · 17/07/2024 08:28

Good morning! My stupid phone won’t hold charge above 15% so I need to get that repaired today.

Jobs list:

  • take phone to repair shop
  • make the filling for vegetable samosas
  • wash rest of DD’s bedding and peg out
  • make paneer curry
  • vacuum downstairs
  • renew motor insurance
  • water greenhouse
  • meet friend at 11am
Ineedtokeepmoving · 17/07/2024 13:57

Thank you all for your lovely welcome. Yes I def need to be accountable! Today I have finished a massive paperwork job and posted it all off, did the bins, and now having a cup of tea and a bit later I’ll do some garden or hang out the washing as it’s finally stopped raining 🥳

CountingCrones · 17/07/2024 18:32

6 out of 8 done, still time to do the insurance but the vacuuming will have to wait.

SummerLobelia · 17/07/2024 19:01

hello all.

back this evening and have caught up with the posts but will not post properly tonight. Other than to say Welcome @Ineedtokeepmoving !!

Had a great time away. Smile. Hope those who are unwell are feeling better and not so filled with coughs and colds. Trip away was marred a bit with my purse being stolen while I turned my back for a second at the airport baggage claim, but I was able to cancel all my cards within 20 minutes and I think before being used (Thank You Lloyds and HSBC Online Services TM). We did not alot at all. Just moved slowly and repeatedly between pool and beach and taverna.

I have started a list for tomorrow. it begins with washing clothes and I need to water the patio plants.

Waves and hugs to all. Good to be back. 💝

RunningKatie · 17/07/2024 20:11

We have weather that is not rain! I've got a load of washinf dried outside today.
2 different school activities attended.
I need to start on packed lunches etc but I'm just wondering if DH will make a cup of tea if I sit here long enough. Probably not is the answer.
Need to load the washing machine for tomorrow morning, and do my duolingo. Then I suspect I need to find some cold and flu stuff.

Frostandfrogs · 18/07/2024 07:33

Well done! I've been known to do a thing just so I've got something to post, so it does work.
When I'm on a roll I do boiling the kettle jobs - a small thing that takes moments, but will stay done for a while.
Off to take my own advice...brb!

Frostandfrogs · 18/07/2024 07:56

Mission accomplished: cutlery drawer all clean and sparkling 😇
👋 @Aria999 did your client ever call, and did you get air conditioning sorted?

I am chugging along full of cold and generally avoiding people where I can. Am full of beechams max which helps for a while.

Hope you avoid it @RunningKatie

Welcome back @SummerLobelia Boo to stealers of purses! You sound very stoic and I'm glad you had a nice time otherwise!

Home stretch for school people! We have a couple of teachers in the family and they are just as excited!

Best wishes to everyone on the thread! I'm happy with my cutlery drawer head start, and I am going to change our bedding and mop the kitchen floor. Cancelled coffee with a friend this morning and I think I shall go for a walk instead.

Peridot1 · 18/07/2024 10:01

Morning all.

@SummerLobelia - that is rubbish about your purse. So annoying. Holiday sounds perfect though!

Hope everyone poorly is on the mend.

Welcome @Ineedtokeepmoving. Just getting one thing a day done makes such a difference.

I did some of the ironing on Tuesday. Told myself I’d iron six things and if I did more it was a bonus. I did nine. Was supposed to do more yesterday but didn’t. I’ll do more today and that will finish the downstairs ironing pile. Then I just need to do the upstairs one. I was moving stuff around and ended up with various piles in various rooms.

Busy morning here as have decorator in painting a wall. Sky engineer has been and gone as DS was moaning the Wi-Fi was slow and freezing when he is in meetings. Turns out it’s not our Wi-Fi but a known issue with Microsoft Teams.

Today:

  • wash bedding (almost finished)
  • towel wash
  • kitchen/dishwasher (done and put drainer in dishwasher as a quick job)
  • ironing
  • pick up laundry - duvets and bed covers
  • quick shop (might add limoncello to list after @SpiritOfEdna’s suggestion)
  • im sure there is something else I need to do

Have a great day all.
