Thanks, @SpringLobelia . I have convinced my adult son to fill in his postal vote and to take both envelopes to the post box. I've tidied and cleaned the kitchen counter. I've prepped some food for a celebration tomorrow.

I think that can do for now. I can start again fresh tomorrow.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/04/2024 16:29

👋 just a Hello for now. Was a bit silly and booked baby's vaccination appt for an hour before I need to leave to take Havoc to gymnastics. 🤦‍♀️ If traffic is ok, I can find parking and nurses are on schedule I'll be ok, but it'll be tight. 🤞

RunningKatie · 29/04/2024 21:49

Hope vaccinations go ok @Mumtobabyhavoc, I have a really annoying habit of just agreeing to appointments, even when I know they won't work and I'll need to rearrange. It's baffling why I feel the need to be polite and agree to the first option without saying anything. It's like I enjoy making work for myself.
Work's gone nuts again/still. I've just done an online food shop so that's one thing off my list. Now need to go out at 7am to fetch it.
Tomorrow is due to be dry so am hoping to get washing done and outside. Then obviously the rain returns!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/04/2024 23:47

Oh god Katie, I hear you. For me these past months it really doesn't matter what time I schedule anything because I am always late. 😲 Today I was just about ready and baby needed nursing again (10min delay); then had a diaper blow-out (another 10 mins); then power went off! Had to find flashlight (torch?) and soothe Havoc that everything was okay. Arrived ten mins late and was taken in after a brief wait. Two needles to leg and one drink for baby and we were done. 👍👍👍
Nurse was lovely and understanding (I apologized and explained). Was 15 mins early for gymnastics! 🥳

Vacuumed and cleaned bathroom last night including washing floor. Did washing machine tub clean and threw away a pair of socks that I've never liked, forced myself to wear and are just starting to wear through in the heels. Goodbye annoying socks that stop mid-calf. 🤬

Spring, I did get a decent sleep last night! Thanks. 💕Good delegation you. It's important to find a way to give yourself some breathing room. ☺️
Peridot, sorry to hear about the ongoing moth problem. 😔 Have you considered moving?🥸
Petal, how is auntie (and dad?)?
Counting, one thing at a time then post about it. We'll cheer you on! 😁
Froggy 🐸 Hope things are ok 💕

Not even going to try and do chores today. I've had a busy morning and two donuts. 😲😋

Peridot1 · 30/04/2024 16:11

Glad you managed to get to your appointments @Mumtobabyhavoc.

@CountingCrones - your post yesterday reminded me to do my postal vote! Thanks.

I didn’t get all of my list done the other day as predicted. But I have done a few things.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - the moths are annoying but not bad enough to consider moving! And we’d probably just bring them with us……. I’m getting there i think. Just been and bought more trap things and things to hang everywhere and out in drawers so hopefully they will disappear. I now have about 20 shirts to iron though…… May do a sneaky clear out of a few that I know DH will never wear again.

I have just had a productive trip into our local town. Took a duvet to be washed. Took a lot to the charity shop. Took hangers back to a dry cleaners. Dropped some bras off to a donation box. Bought moth stuff. And did a quick supermarket shop for a few bits. Am now home ignoring the ironing DS wants me to do before he leaves tomorrow.

CountingCrones · 30/04/2024 18:02

Gently productive day today - I did go to the exercise class that I kept coming up with excuses to avoid, I did a decent tidy up and I baked my son’s birthday cake.

I also read in the sunshine and appreciated the new growth in the garden, which was time well spent.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/04/2024 18:45

Good for you, Counting. 😄 Sounds like quite a productive day. Baking a cake and a bit of sitting in the sun sounds very nice. ☺️
Peridot, I hope you are rid of your moth problem soon. 🤞

I've got lots of little things to do and a couple big jobs. I keep doing the little things, but the big job is nagging.

Aria999 · 30/04/2024 19:59

Today's project: rise of the robots, episode 2.

I have set up Robot Vacuum the Second in its new lair under DH's bedside table, and have tidied all of the first floor. (Including the kids rooms) so it can go round.

Did I mention I am very into robot vacuums right now?

SpringLobelia · 01/05/2024 06:46

Morning all.

Hope everyone is well and fine. I would LOVE a robot vacuum @Aria999 !

Not much going on Chez Lobelia. Normal housework but I intend to go and buy a plant and plant it. I have a garden bed with too many gaps in it.

Thanks to everyone.

SpringLobelia · 01/05/2024 12:07

Afternoon!

I have bought a rose and it is ready for planting. I also bought wheeled pot caddies for various patio pots.

DH pointed out to me (because i had not noticed) that the climbing rose we have against one of our bare walls is flowering nicely.

Daily project Round 5
Aria999 · 01/05/2024 14:29

Beautiful rose @SpringLobelia !

Aria999 · 01/05/2024 14:31

Today is a short day as I have to get DS for therapy in the afternoon.

Aiming to clean 2 bathrooms and fold/ put away 2 baskets of laundry.

RunningKatie · 01/05/2024 14:54

Wfh today with a sickly dc. One load of washing out as it is glorious. Or it was. Briefly.
I need to sort out our wifi, we're out of contract at the end of the month and today it went down in spectacular style whilst I was on an online training session. Final nail in the coffin for that provider.

Aria999 · 01/05/2024 16:52

Oh no @RunningKatie that's so frustrating.

We had lots of issues with ours which seem to have stopped since I bought a new router, might that be a thing to try?

The worst though was when I had to take a very important meeting by streaming 5G from my phone to my laptop, but that time it turned out that one of the cleaners had unplugged the WiFi and then replugged the cable into the wrong socket 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/05/2024 01:11

Roses are lovely Spring. 😍
Katie, hope dc is feeling better.
Hope therapy went well for dc and that you managed to get your tasks done, Aria.

I was planning on taking Havoc and baby out for afternoon, but Havoc was having a meltdown about everything so nap it was. Meantime thought I's tackle a project of putting adhesive vinyl on some windows. Started in a bedroom. Cleaned window inside and out (had to remove sliding window panel and screen which I also cleaned). After a few hiccups and realizing I hadn't removed the backing and starting over, it was a success. Only sliding window done, though. But it looks good! Will try the other part of the window at nap time tomorrow.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/05/2024 02:19

This is what it looks like. I only covered about 2/3 so I can still see out, but have privacy from the outside with curtains open.

Daily project Round 5
SingleThreadJoiner · 02/05/2024 14:49

Good work on the window, @Mumtobabyhavoc ! And thanks for sharing the beautiful rose, @SpringLobelia !

Our neighbour is having some work done in her garden today (we all have incredibly small gardens, more like patios really) and if she has a good experience with the people she's called, I will look into them too. We had some damage done by carpenter wasps last year and some things need attention before it all collapses!

It's been a funny week for me because yesterday I had to travel out of town to attend the funeral of a former colleague, which took up most of the day. It was quite sobering as she wasn't very old, and her illness developed rather quickly over the space of just a few months. But it was also fairly pleasant to see some old colleagues again.

Before that, I just concentrated on laundry (four loads on Tuesday! including some that could be dried outside!) and minor jobs like donating some clothes, tidying up some lone bits of paper from my study, and getting the house cleaner-ready.

But the end of the week has definitely snuck up on us!!

SpringLobelia · 03/05/2024 06:54

Morning all.

I like the window @Mumtobabyhavoc ! I like the mosaic effect.

I am so sorry about your colleague @SingleThreadJoiner that must have been hard. I hope your weekend goes well.

Hope everyone is well and DCs also @Aria999 and @RunningKatie Thanks

Yesterday I did some life admin and sorted out various banking and medical folders. Today I need to sign some documents and return them to accountants and the like.

I also signed up for a series of workshops on emotional wellbeing, dealing with anxiety etc which was a bit of an impulse but really needed for me right now as I am struggling a bit in that sphere.

This week I intend to focus on sorting out what we grandly call our 'conservatory' but is really a ratty old plastic lean-to attached to our kitchen. The floor is rotten and DH uses it to dump the junk he can no longer fit in all the other places he dumps his junk. I will try and devote about 45 minutes a day to it for a week and then get some quotes in to turn it into a proper conservatory. DH wants to deal with a leaking roof this year as our Big Project but I will see how much it all costs in the hope we could stretch to it.

Hope everyone has a very good weekend.

Aria999 · 03/05/2024 15:27

Love the stained glass effect @Mumtobabyhavoc !

Sorry to hear you are feeling anxious @SpringLobelia , I hope the courses help. I am sometimes anxious too so I sympathize. I once did an online CBT course for anxiety and depression through the NHS which was pretty helpful.

How is DC feeling today @RunningKatie ?

Am feeling floaty today as DH has just agreed a pay rise! He has had almost no increase since 2019 so inflation has been getting increasingly uncomfortable.

petalpower · 05/05/2024 10:09

Doing my usual Sunday post after just reading and not posting all week!
Ive been making progress with my 2024 item decluttering inspired by another thread. The charity bag is looking pleasingly full (I’ll drop it off later this week on my way back from the dentist) and DH is talking about having a big sort through his clothes too which will be a win. The airing cupboard needs a huge sort out and it also has a hanging rail which is DH’s wardrobe and has some of my clothes in there too. I’ve had a few eBay sales this week and am hoping people may be in a buying mood over the bank holiday weekend. We’ve got adult DS moving back for a few months in between flat rentals and DD will be back from her travels too so there will be plenty of extra belongings to store here in the upcoming months.
It’s a really beautiful day here - very unusual to have a bank holiday with such good weather. Hope all the projecteers on this thread are ok. I love reading what you’ve been up to!

Peridot1 · 06/05/2024 09:16

Hello all. On this rainy bank holiday Monday here. Our gardening plans are on hold.

Sorry about your colleague @SingleThreadJoiner. That’s sad.

Hope the workshops help @SpringLobelia. And good luck with the conservatory planning/clearing.

@petalpower - how is dd doing on her travels? I hope she’s having a great time. You have reminded me I need to sort our airing cupboard too. I suppose that might be a good use of a rainy bank holiday!

Operation Moth is continuing. Not nearly so many of them but still two or three every day in various rooms.

Still have a pile of ironing.

My list today :

  • dishwasher (done)
  • washing
  • put washing away
  • menu plan for the week
  • sort through a pile of papers/lists
  • water plants
  • write card for friend
  • post card and do a supermarket shop

And it’s a bit miserable so I really don’t want to do anything!

Have a great day all.

RunningKatie · 06/05/2024 09:24

Need to check the weather forecast here @Peridot1 - we currently have sunshine, which is a dream for a bank holiday!
Plan is trip to the tip first, then DH is going to sort the garden lights which haven't worked in 2 years and just hang forlornly.
I'm going to brave the retail park in search of dc1's specific shampoo which is increasingly hard to track down and a suitcase for dc2's school trip, plus some cleaning stuff for the patio.
Nice dog walk planned for later, tennis for dc and hopefully a food shop too.
Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

SpringLobelia · 06/05/2024 09:28

Morning!

Grey and drizzly here. I rashly promised the Dcs we would go out extra early today to see the sunrise at our nearest beach (a drive away). My 4.45 alarm clock was a bit grim and its grey as i said but we packed hot chocolate and sat in the car with Dcs exclaiming 'It's getting lighter!!'.

They were enchanted by the whole thing though so that's okay!

Thanks @Peridot1 I am looking forward to the workshops.

I have ironing as well. The Dcs are currently watching Star Wars so I should use the chance to iron.

Otherwise this week I have a couple of tip runs. DH became inspired by my work in the conservatory and has decided to clear out the garage. I want to just order in a skip. he says tip runs will do the job. I'm giving it a week before I put my foot down.

Have happy days everyone!

petalpower · 06/05/2024 15:06

DD is having a fabulous time thank you @Peridot1 . She’s currently in Thailand and will be away for about another 10
weeks I think. I made a good start on the airing cupboard and DH has been sorting out his clothes that hang in there. Lots for the charity shop bag and some for textile recycling. Hopefully whilst I’m
out visiting auntie he will finish the job but he’s not a great completer of tasks!

Frostandfrogs · 07/05/2024 12:49

Hello! I'm sorry I abandoned the thread. I didn't mean to worry anybody. Just...so much stuff going on around here and my brains were getting a bit scrambled. Once again I left and rejoined (and hidden AIBU) hence yet another name change 😳
I will go back and catch up with what you've all been up to. I hope everybody is ok.
I am still retired, but I've become a more regular carer for my mother, and an official carer for DD1 which is quite a long story. We also have a new granddaughter which is just lovely 💕 and mum is over the moon bless her.
Realised I take on more worries than I should do so I'm currently attempting to simply steer a straight course, supporting my people the best I can without taking on their stuff.

I was given a gentle poke via email by our lovely @SpringLobelia, and I will go back to basics with documenting a small daily win...today I have cleaned behind and underneath my stove, and I have pulled a big bucket full of weeds.

Best wishes to you all 💐
