Wheelie bins finished.

Now to put another wash on and then we are out all day.

Hope everyone has a lovely day. :)

Peridot1 · 13/04/2024 09:59

Sounds like you got lots done yesterday @SpringLobelia. And the chicken sounds lovely.

Ouch to the knee @SingleThreadJoiner. Hope it heals ok.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - what is your mini workout please? I could do with a quick one to do on days I don’t go to the gym. Which is most days to be honest! 😄

We had our neighbours in for dinner last night which was nice. Dishwasher is currently doing first load. Another load to go and we should be back to normal. DS got back last night too. With a bag of washing…..

Today’s plan is getting the kitchen and dining area sorted, doing some laundry, vacuuming and some gardening.

Have a great day all.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/04/2024 13:12

Peridot, this is one of the exercises:
"walkouts"
from standing, crouch to floor and walk out with your hands to plank position holding 10s, do a push-up slowly, back to plank 10s, walk back with hands to down dog take slow deep breaths 10s, reverse to starting position by bending knees and continue walking back with hands to crouching, rise to standing.
To finish this move after last rep stretch arms overhead aligned with ears, clasp hands and point and align index fingers, squeeze glutes, bend back, think pointing at wall behind you, take a couple slow deep breaths, stand tall, release.

Aria999 · 13/04/2024 13:33

@Mumtobabyhavoc just spontaneously chilling out.

I tried on the various things I had ordered to wear for my brother's wedding and picked one, then I played on the computer. Bliss!

Aria999 · 13/04/2024 13:56

Oh and I started it with a 2 hour nap after I dropped the kids off.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/04/2024 14:30

Naaap! Oh, how I love a good nap. ☺️
I'll need that today if I can manage it. Been awake since 4am when I got up with baby and still awake now at 6:30...
Sounds like a really good day, Aria.

Peridot1 · 13/04/2024 17:10

@Mumtobabyhavoc - wow! No way I could do that without falling over. 😂

I’m counting the gardening I did this afternoon as a workout. My back certainly feels it! We are prepping a meter wide strip all along our back fence to be planted with wild flower seeds. Our ‘garden’ used to be a sheep paddock so not in the best of condition!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/04/2024 20:21

Peridot, it's a full body strength exercise for sure! 😄
I used to do 10 reps standing on one leg only then switch. Just up to two reps now followed by dumbbells. I'll post that part later. 😄

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/04/2024 21:20

Feeling so much better now that I've eaten and have coffee...😃
Peridot, I do the dumbbells exercises in a continued movement:
hammer curl to overhead press
to triceps extension (overhead)
reverse then shrug
After desired reps I do:
front raises then side raises (for shoulders) then
bending forward rear delt flies (sp?) then rows for lats

I also like to do a set of old fashioned leg lifts (leg pointed to front w toes pointed down, side and then inner thigh) and a few yoga poses.
Honestly, it can all be done in 15mins. 😄

SpringLobelia · 14/04/2024 06:31

Morning all. I love the idea of a wildflower border @Peridot1 !

I am hoping to make a lavender bed alongside our path this year.

I am away the next few days (hen party) so today will be VERY busy getting sorted. I still have washing to catch up on, and some meal prep to put in the fridge. Plus clean the fridge. Then I have two standing roses to pot. I am planning to do another 2 hour blitz upstairs and a further 2 hour blitz downstairs and basically see how far I get.

Plus pack. Thankfully it will be pretty casual so jeans and shirts will be fine. There are 6 of us going and I am the youngest at 50 so i am ready for a pretty liquid and messy affair. Grin

Mumtobabyhavoc · 14/04/2024 08:50

Spring, is the hen party for a bride to be, or a just girls' trip? I haven't done anything like that since before covid. Sounds fun! 😃

Unable to sleep. Partly related to constant news watching today/tonight. Ugh.
Made pizza for dinner and also a banana bread with choco chips and pecans. Had three pieces banana bread. With butter. 😲🤫😛
Just finished a 30-minute blitz of linen/everything closet. This has been nagging me for a couple of weeks. Two shelves have baskets of stuff: first aid, toothpaste/toothbrushes, multiple bottles of Tylenol now expired, eye drops/contact lens solution and containers. Junked some and used large zip plastic bags to group some. Old meds to be emptied and taken to pharmacy for disposal. Have put some empty boxes/bags into a larger bag for recycling. Lots more to do, but I've finally started on this closet!!!! Yea!!! 😁

petalpower · 14/04/2024 10:01

@SpringLobelia a hen party sounds fun. Is it UK based? So many hen and stag events seem to be much further distances away than when I got married in 1997!
How is your son doing @Peridot1 ? The wildflower area you’re planting sounds very pretty.
Hope everyone else is ok. We seem to have lost a few projecteers recently.
My DH, who is a dreadful procrastinator, has had a bit of a surge getting the last few jobs from the building project done and we are now nearly completely finished. The utility room has been home to tools, paint and other building necessities for months now but yesterday I was able to clear the dresser of all the bags of cement and tile adhesives and DH cleaned the sink which had been full of painting equipment. It had been like that for a good 6 months ! There is still a big box of other building/DIY stuff in the kitchen but I’m hopeful that will be moving out to the garage very soon too. 🤞

SpringLobelia · 14/04/2024 19:04

evening all.

Hope everyone had a good and productive day.

I am tired but happy with what I achieved. I ended up doing an hour downstairs (cleaned out both fridges but did not get to mopping floors) and 3 hours upstairs with some major decluttering and a number of black bags moved next to the front gate for tipping. Plus swept the terrace, e-mailed the gardeners, sorted out my various bank accounts and consolidated them, and potted up 2 roses.

Washed and ironed and now only have to pack for being away. The hen do is in the UK- on the south coast and does involve the 63 year old bride to be. Smile

I'm being picked up at 9 and am very much looking forward to it. The last hen party I went on was for a cousin when I was about 18.

@petalpower there is something about spring I think for motivating Dhs... mine did a big clean of one of his dumping ground rooms- it's meant to be a breakfast room but it is really used as his study / disaster area.

Now I am very tired but will make sure various school uniforms are in order complete with undershirts and knickers on each hanger and then shower and an early night.

Best wishes to all. Thanks

RunningKatie · 14/04/2024 20:35

Evening everyone, what a whirlwind of a week it's been. I've had days where I have completely lost track of which day it is.
Back to school tomorrow, the holiday was going really slowly and now whoosh it's over.
Today I've ironed, lunches prepped for tomorrow, bags packed etc. Hopefully it'll help in the chaos in the morning.
Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend.

SpiritOfEdna · 15/04/2024 12:13

Morning all, busy weekend here, just getting organised for the week. Had the GNeice to stay Saturday night and we did an escape room - great fun. I have got some studying to do this week + some presentations to do, so all my spare time will be taken up with that.
Plan for today:

  • meal plan for week - too much junk over the weekend
  • work out gaps in study plan
  • some of the plants in the border need propping up - it's a bit blowy here today - hope they stay up.
  • need to buy some paint - a exercise ball has pulled a load of paint from the wall where it was resting and then plan time for tough ups.
The house has finally been cleaned off all the mud, ready for a fresh week's onslaught, That's all for now, have a good day, SoE.
SingleThreadJoiner · 15/04/2024 16:04

@SpringLobelia your cleaning/tidying sprees of the past few days are amazing! V. impressive achievements 👏I hope you have a great time away at the hen party - and congratulations to the young bride 😄

Very glad to have school starting again today. Holidays were lovely but was missing the routine! Absolutely vile weather today - so much rain and wind and hail - not looking forward to going out in a bit to fetch the D. I have another motivated H to add to the collection - mine booked the carpet fitters this morning, and went to Specsavers (for himself), so it's all go!
Thanks for the kind words about the knee, am dutifully doing my exercises and trying not to get too morose about it. As usual it's hard to get lots done during the weekend, but I did manage a bed-linen change and two loads of laundry, and a bunch of tasks that can be done online - ordering various things on Amazon, getting a couple of summer uniform dresses, buying theatre tickets, making a dinner reservation for our anniversary next Sunday, and booking the D in for an activity next Sunday as well. Today it's been quite busy with work but I'm trying to put away 5 things every time I walk into a room. Tonight will be the pre-cleaners mad clean though!

Happy new week to all!

Hanover99 · 15/04/2024 19:14

I'm back, the grand plans of mine last week did not work out at all. Handed in my work project this morning, late again which is just not good at all and the thank you cards haven't been touched. DH is at work right now and I'm going to crack on with them. Sorry I haven't read back to see how everyone is getting on. Will do better to check in regularly. Hope everyone is doing well.

RunningKatie · 16/04/2024 16:06

Wfh day today, one load of washing done - didn't dare put it out as the forecast is dire.
Last night tennis was cancelled due to weather so I hoovered, cleaned windows and bathroom sinks. Tonight dh is out so I'm on mum taxi and ddog walk duty. He's also out tomorrow. This is so unusual but also a teensy bit annoying.
I have forms for dc2 and ddog to complete so will try to do them tonight, don't want to leave it to the last minute.

Aria999 · 16/04/2024 16:28

I'm in my usual mode of partially completing a load of tasks and getting distracted before I finish anything!

Sensory swing is being moved as I type.

Today I also need to
take some returns to the post office;
Mop the kitchen floor
Tidy the upstairs
vacuum the upstairs
Do a load of laundry

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/04/2024 21:06

@Hanover99 that sounds a bit stressful turning work in late. Everything ok?
@Aria999 &
@RunningKatie laundry is the bane of my existence. I have two loads still hanging to fold/put away and 2-3 to wash as we speak.
@SingleThreadJoiner rain and wind and hail, oh my!
(thinking lions and tigers and bears...😁)
I'm also having knee trouble. Had req for x-ray last year, didn't use it as was pregnant. Must speak with GP about a new one. 💡 What is your diagnosis? Hope it feels better soon.
@SpiritOfEdna Escape room! I've wanted to do one for years!!!! How was it?

I'm looking at bits of pasta (spaghetti) and crumbs under the table from last night's dinner, but have a lovely little baby asleep on my lap and toddler has fallen asleep beside us. Afraid to risk moving and wake them. I may take a chance to get another latte, though (needs must?). 😌

Aria999 · 16/04/2024 21:16

@Mumtobabyhavoc I really ought to be line drying it too as the weather is so amazing all of a sudden but.... the dryer is so quick and easy...

I got the returns sent off and have got the laundry in but not turned around yet (and it always gets stuck waiting to be folded as folding takes ages).

Also managed to get more propane for the gas grill at the cost of a big gash in my leg where one of the tanks got dropped and rolled into me! I felt sorry for the store guy, I think he thought I might sue him. Now eating chocolate and drinking tea in a slightly stunned fashion prior to getting it together for the school run.

Not sure where the rest of the day has gone!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/04/2024 23:14

Aria, I have a drying rack in the horror bedroom and hang things in the bathroom on the shower curtain rod with the dehumidifier on. Quite classy here. 😂
Ouch for your leg! Is is bad?
You're in the States, right?

So I buzzed since last post:
folded and put away laundry;
washed another load and hung up;
boiled a half dozen eggs and peeled some oranges;
put snack together for Havoc and woke Havoc;
changed dc's diapers;
washed floor under table, kitchen and around one couch;
made another latte which I re-heated twice in microwave as I was puttering;
nursed baby;
drank latte;
phoned accountant to confirm taxes ready for signing.
Accountant's asst didn't know ( 😡 ), so I am waiting for call back. It's a bit annoying as now will be too late to drive over today and we're all ready to head out the door (you know it's not easy to get small children ready to go out....). Last week when I called accountant said would be ready next day. 😤

Aria999 · 16/04/2024 23:20

@Mumtobabyhavoc do you actually have a horror bedroom or is that autocorrect being over-enthusiastic?! 🤣

That's annoying from your accountant. Hope you get it sorted! When's the tax deadline for you?

Aria999 · 16/04/2024 23:23

The leg is sporting a nasty bruise and patch of blood under the surface but not actually bleeding. Painful at the time but I have applied an oversized band aid and should be ok!

Aria999 · 16/04/2024 23:25

Yes Pittsburgh
