Acid attack in Clapham

Has anyone else seen this horrible news story? Apparently 9 people have been injured, looks like the original targets were a woman and two children.

It's entirely likely he's not in London any more, since doubtless he'll have friends in Newcastle prepared to shelter him

Best hope that he's driven to seek treatment for his injuries, and that whoever he sees calls the police rather than insisting that's not their job

Agreed. People always argue that life without parole (life imprisonment not 25 years as life means here) or harsher punishments don’t deter people from crime. I don’t think in support the death penalty (although I read about that Chinese couple out to death yesterday for throwing two toddlers to their deaths and it seemed fair) however punishment isn’t just about deterrents, it’s about justice. It makes me sick that you can rape someone, a child even, essentially take their life away and be set free after a few years. It’s not justice.

All well and good but that only deals with immigration from countries that joined the EU in 2004 (Slovakia, Czech etc) so isn't really a comprehensive study and ignores the countries where most UK immigrants actually come from. A comprehensive study would better support your point (assuming it does) rather than very limited data sets.

I'm becoming more pro death penalty the more of these stories I hear.

Let’s try and find the statistics on how rare this is compared to a man attacking a woman/children in similar circumstances!

Apparently an acid attack makes the skin go black. That’s what I read about the victims in one of the reports. I am just speechless. Those poor girls and woman.

Wouldn’t be surprised to hear this guy may have previous for VAWG. This kind of crime is rarely a “first offence” type of crime, there will have been escalation over time.

Yes. Sexual assault and got a suspended sentence.

It was a woman and small children. I would imagine it’s domestic abuse related.
