Very excited that a new M&S food store has opened up where I live. What are your must buys? I'm going to create a wish list shopping list to start working my way through.

That hazelnut spread is just like the centre of a Bueno chocolate bar. It’s so delicious. Fab on a hot cross bun.

Cheese Tasters for the win! 🙌🏻

Summerrabbit · 28/01/2024 18:00

Just to report back that I went to M&S today & can confirm that the jalapeño & cheese ridge crisps are delicious! Also really enjoyed the apple hot cross buns. The iced raspberry jam buns are a bit sickly for me I’m glad I tried them. They were out of the much recommended layered Mexican dip so will have to get next time!

ClaudiaNaughton · 28/01/2024 18:20

Need to make an enormous list. Find their fresh vegetables excellent.

lapochette · 28/01/2024 19:01

There's so many things I like! Will have a go at remembering:

The tub of dunking cookies, the best dunkers ever and I'm not even a dunker kind of gal Shock
Gastro Pub Chicken Kyivs
The best lasagne
The best cottage pie
Fresh mash
Potato rostis in the freezer and French fries
Coated chicken
Cold roast beef and sweet n smoky ham
Deli coleslaw and pot salad
Cookie dough covered ice cream bites
Coconut and raspberry loaf
Salt and vinegar mayo
Frozen almond croissants and pain au chocolat
Cornish cruncher
Cream cheese and whipped cream cheese
Cheese tasters
Cornisher Cruncher cheese biscuits
Pretzel crisps
Multi pack of flapjack cookies
Used to love their small cocktail cans that came out last summer but much prefer Wonderland cocktail cans
Percy pigs esp the seasonal ones
Merry munch and the seasonal ones

DarcyProudman · 28/01/2024 19:36

Their pineapple tarts are to die for! They’re in a yellow box of four, on the cake shelves.

Metoo15 · 28/01/2024 20:14

Crispy potato slices are back ! Love em. Cornish pasties, potato sticks from the crisp isle, tomato soup very cheap and delicious. Chocolate mini rolls, very heavy and gorgeous. Eccles cakes and strawberry trifle.

Whiskeypowers · 28/01/2024 21:30

@lapochette i love the merry munch too and the tin☺️
@Metoo15 i too was so happy when i saw the crispy potato slices were back the other week!

Jingleballs2 · 29/01/2024 09:27

I love their Chinese battered chicken with sweet and sour or sweet chilli sauce 😍
A boring one, but I love their little portion bags of veg, like carrot green beans and tenderstem brocoli that you stick in the microwave. Goes well with a ready meal to make it a bit healthier.

Jingleballs2 · 29/01/2024 09:28

Also I much prefer their steak lasagne to the best ever one.. maybe that's just me

Givemestrengthorvodka · 29/01/2024 11:10

This thread just keeps delivering the goods. I had my first iced Lemon bun yesterday, absolutely delicious 😋. They were all out of the layered mex dip though...not surprised by the sounds of it! And I've got one of the cob loafs turned Garlic loaf in the freezer, looks delicious

The Eccles cakes (2 pack) are delicious if you like them. They're also all-butter so higher quality than most.

Edit: having said that, the reviews on Ocado are mixed, perhaps they've gone downhill since I last had them before the pandemic.

Lifeinlists · 29/01/2024 14:18

Frozen Rice and Vegetables. Great for a very quick meal, stir fried and served with baked salmon fillets (also from M&S natch)

Aworldofmyown · 29/01/2024 14:23

We had a caramelised apple tart yesterday- it was amazing!!!
They are in the freezer and you bake at home.

Lorrymum · 29/01/2024 14:52

Sourdough crumpets
baked beans
tomato ketchup
cleaning products
meal deals are always excellent value
Love Markies!

ThreeRingCircus · 29/01/2024 16:40

This thread is dangerous as I've started working my way through the suggestions 🤣.

So far I vote:

Sweet potato tortilla chips - really nice, will buy again.

Mexican layered dip - nice but no better than buying each dip separately.

I shall report back regarding the cheese tasters!

Gia79 · 29/01/2024 17:00

I tried Cheese Tasters for the first time today and they gave me that powdery orange fingertips magic I haven’t had from a Wotsit since childhood. Thanks for the recommendation/making my waistline larger.

madeinmanc · 29/01/2024 19:12

My cheese taster life pro tip is to get a multi pack of small bags to stop eating a family size bag in one sitting 😀

Darklane · 29/01/2024 19:33

Chocolate eclairs, full of cream & gorgeous chocolate.
Mostly my experience is use of their motorway shops & have yet to find a decent sandwich. They used to be good but lately they’re terrible. Their Best Ever Prawn Sandwich now has far, far too much sauce, wilted lettuce & the fewer prawns are all bunched at the front where they’re visible.

Profiteroles are even better. More chocolate, less pastry.

Icantbedoingwithit · 29/01/2024 19:34

Great thread! Making a list!

8misskitty8 · 29/01/2024 19:42

Another sweet treat is the mini cake loafs which come in a pack of 4. The toffee cake one is amazing.

Trouble is, the small bags are tiny, gone in 50 seconds 😁 One is Not Enough.

They are so vastly superior to Wotsits.

My top tip is that the Chesse Balls come in a mahoosive bag.

I really really need to go back to low carbing. This stuff is waaay too tempting.
