Very excited that a new M&S food store has opened up where I live. What are your must buys? I'm going to create a wish list shopping list to start working my way through.

Layered Mexican dip

Lemon curd iced buns (probably the most delicious cake/bun type thing I've ever tried and I don't even like lemon that much)

Tomato everything pasta sauce - nicer than any other and tastes homemade. I tend to make my own and the thought of tipping a jar of dolmio onto pasta makes me cringe but the M&S one is lovely.

weareallcats · 27/01/2024 09:45

Just remembered another one - the bags of crisps that are all different shapes.

weareallcats · 27/01/2024 09:47

And apple and cinnamon hot cross buns.

And apple and cinnamon hot cross buns.

OMG! These are divine.

Can’t be trusted to read the whole thread without getting very hungry but their “Cookie Dunkers” are the best biscuits ever - malted choc chip 🤤 pricey but very, very worth it.

Also their veg samosas are delicious.

Mexican layered dip

This is the absolute GOAT dip. Got one on a yellow sticker once, felt like I'd won the lottery.

Treat stuff aside, you'll find that the eggs are delicious and cheap, as is the cheddar cheese. Also M&S mustard is a kitchen staple here.

Thunderstruckbysnoring · 27/01/2024 10:34

Place marking as I love m and s stuff but get fazed and forget what to buy

Colinswheels · 27/01/2024 10:38

The oatcakes with the pumpkin seeds in the pumpkin seeds in them are delicious. Also find the fruit really good quality, the raspberries and strawberries are sweet and juicy all year round.

Mynewnameis · 27/01/2024 10:40

Coronation sauce. Add to cooked chicken. Yummy

Mynewnameis · 27/01/2024 10:46

Need to try this Mexican dip

Moier · 27/01/2024 10:52

I go once a week.. we have two very big new ones within half hour drive.
Three for £8 on deli.. quiches( family ones) cooked chicken halves.. Chinese chicken wings.. bbq chicken wings.. cold meats all included.
I love all their fresh chickens especially 3 chicken legs for £1.50
Cauliflower cheese and cheesy potato is a must .
The coleslaw and potato slaw also .
Kievs and scampi.
Cod in crumbs.
Chicken pies.
Gosh just about anything.
My favourite place for all my food.

KnackeredBack · 27/01/2024 10:53

Best ever lasagne - it's very, very good indeed

Lovemusic82 · 27/01/2024 10:59

Mango and coconut chicken (breasts)

massive cod fish cakes with mushy peas in the middle.

scotch eggs (several different one but they are all good).

Beetroot and feta salad, although I’m not sure they still do it as I couldn’t find it last week.

ElinorDashwood68 · 27/01/2024 10:59

One opened near me on Thursday, can't wait to go

I have a list as long as my arm now and a real concern about my future waistline.

For regular goers, when is the best time of day to get reduced produce? The store is soclose I can nip along anytime so hoping to get some end of day items when possible if I can time it right.

I went last Thursday lunch time and there was loads marked down, I wasn’t prepared as only popped in for my lunch (pink iced buns and a quiche). I could have easily bought lots of had freezer space, lots of ready meals reduced, cold meats, bread, pizza etc..

JodieFostersFurHood · 27/01/2024 12:33

Their haggis - it is MacSweens.

@Givemestrengthorvodka best time for reductions is about 4pm but in our town you have to fight the pensioners ( me included) 😂

Rosecoffeecup · 27/01/2024 12:56

All of the frozen pastries are delicious - I particularly love the hazelnut and almond croissants

Salt and vinegar combo mix crisps

Dutch shortcake biscuits or any of the vienesse

Fresh cream Swiss roll

Pork and apple sausages

Southern fried chicken

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 27/01/2024 12:58

The pulled pork taco type pastries on the 3 for £8 deli things are fab. I usually buy three of those

Gia79 · 27/01/2024 12:59

Omg how could I forget?!

The olive round crackers.

DizzyWaltzer · 27/01/2024 13:01

Creamed Spinach, this is from someone who doesn’t like cream & hates the idea of cooked spinach. Try it with chicken, absolutely delicious!

Crunchymum · 27/01/2024 13:05

M&S are on my shit list as they discontinued my favourite dip (Bang Bang dip, discovered after reading a thread like this but the bastards discontinued it within a few months of me first tasting it!)

I may have to check our the Mexican layered dip and hope they don't discontinue this.

Lifestooshort71 · 27/01/2024 13:08

Agree with lots of the above but I swerve their sliced bread as it all seems over sweet

Thisvehicle · 27/01/2024 13:09

Cheese and celery sandwich
Millionaire cookie dough bites
Milk chocolate covered custard creams
Burger sauce
Seeded wraps
Coconut and raspberry loaf cake
Thin wood fired tomato and mozzarella pizza
Cheese tasters
