Very excited that a new M&S food store has opened up where I live. What are your must buys? I'm going to create a wish list shopping list to start working my way through.

I went last Thursday lunch time and there was loads marked down, I wasn’t prepared as only popped in for my lunch (pink iced buns and a quiche). I could have easily bought lots of had freezer space, lots of ready meals reduced, cold meats, bread, pizza etc..

For those looking for mark downs, highly recommend toogoodtogo.com.

£5 for £15 worth of food but that is marked down price so in reality can be £5 for £20-30 worth of food. Great if you’re not fussy.

I wonder if you live in my town! Ours opened on Burns Night

Their dark chocolate covered ginger biscuits are great.

They also have beef stew wrapped in dumplings with thick gravy DS and I are addicted Part of the dine in meal deal. Delicious.

Also as others have said, their ketchup is really good. I won’t buy Heinz again.

Fabric conditioner.

Denimdenimdenim · 27/01/2024 13:28

The apple hot cross buns are lovely.

If you fancy a quick sandwich, do not get the egg and bacon one. I bought it on a whim once. It's absolutely vile

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 27/01/2024 13:39

Iced buns, lemon curd buns, tomato soup, their swiss chocolate, own brand butter, some of their crisp products, vegetables - I prefer as they seem to stay fresher longer, bakery items, southern fried chicken pieces (don't have the skin on which many other brands do), ketchup, brown sauce, their balsalmic salad dressing - to name a few items!

Summerrabbit · 27/01/2024 14:00

Their fresh cream cakes- choc Swiss roll, Vic sponge, apple sponge
Kids juices- apple & mango, apple & blackcurrant etc.
Choc flapjack
Combo mix crisps

Our local one doesn’t do good 2 go bags, they donate their food to the local pantry/food bank.

Whoever recommended these things, you must want me to gain weight!

Tried one from my son's packet and ate the whole multipack Blush

PeggySooo · 27/01/2024 23:57

I have an unhealthy addiction to the blueberry hot cross buns

TheRealKatnissEverdeen · 28/01/2024 04:18

@Copperoliverbear I buy this one.

@Splcam that cheese and carrot chutney sandwich was the best!!! They don't even do jars of the chutney on its own at mine anymore and the sandwich is nearly always sold out.

Mynewnameis · 28/01/2024 07:37

So I went in, found the Mexican dip. I just couldn't do it. It looked like a pudding and all the layers touching gave me the ik. Looks like I'm destined to dip separate pots

ThreeRingCircus · 28/01/2024 07:58

Pretty much anything from the bakery but in particular their granola squares and the fruit and treacle sliced sourdough loaf. At Christmas they also do a festive sourdough baguette that's flavoured with sage and cranberries and is insanely good.

The salt and pepper combo mix bag of crisps (that are a mixture of different shapes.)

Their cheese selection is amazing.

I was eyeing up their whipped butters today - one was blossom honey and cinnamon that I think would be amazing on porridge. They also do a maple syrup one which I've tried and was gorgeous.

No way! I’ve had honey & cinnamon butter on a toasted teacake at our local farm shop and it was amazing! I’m off to M&S Food today now 😀 Thanks!

Gia79 · 28/01/2024 08:23

They do a tiffin in some stores only which is absurdly good with a cuppa. I’ve never been able to replicate anything like it. Very indulgent.

Gia79 · 28/01/2024 08:24

The maple butter is delicious too but maybe tastes a bit like a heart attack would taste as I can’t really stop at a scraping of it…

hellswelshy · 28/01/2024 09:13

Yum to all of this! My recommendation would be the vegetable samosas near the sandwich/lunch section. They are delicious.

Love M&S food 😋

JodieFostersFurHood · 28/01/2024 09:23

If you want a little taste of heaven they do at the takeaway food a little Victoria Sandwich individual portion or a little carrot cake.

I'm so sorry 😁. They are like absolute crack. They also do a "share" bag which is beyond huge. Luckily we don't have an M&S near us or I'd be the size of a house, but my willpower is sorely tested (fails completely) when I visit my mum's.

madeinmanc · 28/01/2024 11:30

They'll be nothing left in OP's M&S at this rate! 🤣😬

Iwasafool · 28/01/2024 11:40

Nellieinthebarn · 26/01/2024 21:30

Baked beans, seriously, they are really nice and only 50p a tin.

I second that. I used to only have Heinz but the price now!!! Can't stand cheap supermarket ones (I've tried) but the M&S ones are great, even better than Heinz I think.

I also love an apricot Danish.

DH loves their Ginger Nut biscuits, rejects all other brands.

Lifeinlists · 28/01/2024 11:43

Has anyone mentioned the Colin the Caterpillar mini rolls? My secret vice.
Cut them into about 4 pieces and save his face till last.
I could go on to eat all five at once but...waistline etc.
