Very excited that a new M&S food store has opened up where I live. What are your must buys? I'm going to create a wish list shopping list to start working my way through.

Truffle Gouda. My husband loves it!

Givemestrengthorvodka · 26/01/2024 22:07

Yum, thanks everyone....fairly lengthy shopping list off the back of this 😊

Gourmet Chicken Kiev.

Oh yes 😋

MILLYmo0se · 26/01/2024 22:12

The bags of tortilla chips, pretzels etc are brilliant for lunch boxes to change them up a bit, the subs and rolls are also good to jazz up sambos
Cheese tasters are the BEST
Deli coleslaw
Lasagne and cabonara very good
I love M&s tomato's, just seem to taste better than anywhere else.
The cupboard staples - rice, beans, soups, herbs etc are often similar prices to elsewhere and often taste better

MrsRachelDanvers · 26/01/2024 22:13

£8 ramen meal deal.(part of stir fry deal but other sauces are horrid)
avocados
sourdough loaf
Cox apples
Veg gyozas and sweetcorn fritters
Fish-very good
gastropub cottage pie
gf coffee and walnut cake
dark milk chocolate
potatoes-all their fresh produce is good

Deepdene160971 · 26/01/2024 22:13

Mexican Layered Dip
Spaghetti Carbonara
Iced Spiced Buns
Lasagne Ravioli
Madagascan clotted cream

Lifeinlists · 26/01/2024 22:15

As pp said - all of it. You won't have any trouble finding tempting food to buy and it's very easy to be tempted.

Still, my Sparks card awarded me a free packet of Percy Pigs today so I'm happy.

Their fresh Raspberry Lemonade is very nice!

Copperoliverbear · 26/01/2024 22:16

Poke bowls x

The apple, celery and walnut slaw is fabulous.
Breaded chicken.
Baked beans.

The first on your list used to be called Waldorf salad

problembottom · 26/01/2024 22:17

My recommendation is the bags of flavoured frozen butter portions. I love the chilli and lime one, so handy for livening up things like fish. Garlic and herb also a great staple.

PickAChew · 26/01/2024 22:18

I'm gluten free and can eat very little dairy so appreciate the very small range of convenience food that I can buy there. In the free from range, the spring rolls, breaded chicken fillets and spag bol are all lovely and in the main range, the tempura chicken that is GF, anyway is absolutely lush.

Also love their ground coffee. The columbian, Kenyan and the single origin Ethiopian Microlot are my favourites. I like a smooth rather than a punchy coffee.

Also love their copper pot vodka.

Oldraver · 26/01/2024 22:19

They do a lovely salsa dip for around a quid in with the cooking ingredients.

Much nicer and cheaper than the Doritos stuff

TheRealKatnissEverdeen · 26/01/2024 22:19

@Nellieinthebarn I completely forgot the baked beans! Really good.

What is this Mexican layered dip that so many mention? I'm putting it on my list for Sunday.

Copperoliverbear · 26/01/2024 22:19

This is amazing

New M&S food store - must buys
Schoolrefusa · 26/01/2024 22:20

Are Sparks cards worth having ? I thought they gave someone free shopping (basically rare) and didn't deduct money but then again I don't have a clue as lost mine so never really tried it!)

I am a huge fan of the fruit and find it reliably better quality.
I buy the super seeded bread ever since a friend told me about it (makes excellent toast).
this week we discovered such amazing outdoor pork with Parma ham wrapped round and herb butter - sorry I can't remember its actually name but it was phenomenal.
i agree the spiced iced buns are amazing - so soft and good.

i could go on...!

PickAChew · 26/01/2024 22:22

The chimichurri (sp?) sauce is great - also in the cooking ingredients.

And we get through a lot of their oven chips.

I also buy most of my fruit and veg, fresh and frozen, there. Much nicer than most supermarkets, including Waitrose.

Tonkerbea · 26/01/2024 22:23

A thread like this made me discover their custard choux buns and chocolate covered custard creams. I'm wondering if there's other custard based things I should be eating...

New2024 · 26/01/2024 22:25

Eukanuba · 26/01/2024 20:19

Chocolate covered custard creams.
Devonshire cherry yogurts ( in glass jars. )
Sour cream pretzels.

Those Cherry yogurts in the glass pots - yum. But … the Lidl ones are also v v good.

Italian Style Slow Cooked Ragu - cook sort of as per instructions but top with par boiled sliced potatoes like a hot pot. Serve with Cavolo Nero

Cheese scones from the bakery - very nice toasted and buttered. Makes a cheeky lunch with cream cheese - that extremely named one

PickAChew · 26/01/2024 22:26

The sparks savings aren't great but are useful if you shop there regularly. We have one very close nd do a £100 shop there every week so DH took out the credit card and we get loads back from that.

Oldraver · 26/01/2024 22:27

Oh and the cheeses br as fin the bakery

Chickenpie35 · 26/01/2024 22:28

Pink lady apple juice
Garlic bread like an actual loaf of bread
Posh dogs
👌

HonoriaLucastaDelagardie · 26/01/2024 22:34

Extremely chocolatey milk, dark and white chocolate biscuits. As good as having a box of chocs.

eyespartyparty · 26/01/2024 22:44

The gold tea bags are really good!
