It's going to be Trump isn't it? I'm dreading the election, how are we going to feel the morning we wake up to the news? I really hope there's some greater force out there working for the good of humanity because that's all I feel we can rely on atm. We're all governed by fools and madmen

I hate to say it but I think you are right MagicFox

My 17 year old DS is studying 'A' level politics, has chosen the U.S. module for year 2 and when discussing this he believes that Biden will win by a margin, it reminded me of the beauty of youthful optimism, I'm now channeling that optimism as I feel more and more, cynicism has become a self fulfilling prophecy!

Should add, not that I am suggesting anyone on this thread is cynical - in fact, it seems the opposite on here.

So do I but my feelings on this weren't helped by reading a depressing article this morning in the Guardian about Trump's dark and negative, Super Tuesday Victory speech!

Trump may have won the primary race but that's very different from the general election. It'll all be about turnout I think. Trump turns off female and ethnic minority voters. He's alienated in particular suburban housewives since 2016 and they make up a good proportion of the population. It will come down to whether those voters come out to support Biden or stay at home. Trump's base alone is not enough for him to win.

He's ahead a bit in the polls, but if enough of Haley's supporters switch to Biden or don't vote, that could swing it to Biden. I expect to see a lot of polling looking specifically at this question in the coming weeks.

A felony conviction for Trump would also change the race substantially.

Anthony Scaramucci's recent interview on Leading is really good and delves into this amongst a number of other things.

Personally I'm waiting for Taylor Swift to come out in support of Biden, that should swing it (only half kidding)

Maybe DS's optimism is not misplaced after all!

Well she encouraged voters to go Democratic in both the 2020 election and mid-terms so I'd say so. She's pretty anti-Trump (which he hates).

Halley's end of campaign speech disappointingly suggested that Trump needs to win back her supporters. I wish she'd stuck to her guns and reiterated that they should, like her, vote for Biden in the interests of protecting democracy

Oh I didn't realise, this maybe significant then if she does show support.

Putting our trust in Taylor Swift doesn't seem all that crazy given the current shambles we're in!

Maybe that's why DS is optimistic he's a massive Star Wars fan!

I do actually think his post encapsulates an important point, he has voted against Trump (if you take his post at face value) not for Biden. Its about getting those voters out and voting and not sitting at home!

God I hope Trump doesn't win. Is it very bad to have a slight wish for a heart attack for him from eating too much junk food?

I watched Morning Joe a few weeks back and he made some really funny comparisons about Trump's speech delivery and the performance of Elvis in the latter years!

Wow emerging reports that the Greek delegation and Zelensky came within 100m of being killed today by a missile strike in Odessa, that could have been very dicey.
