Not really a celebrity but I had Bruno Langley (& one of the others off Coronation St, looked similar(ish) babk to my flat for a party one night.

He shoved my cat off the sofa so he got asked to leave🤣

In a previous job I met a few celebrities. Julie Walters was so lovely, so down to earth and a bit crazy. I also met Jim Davidson, he was a bit of a knob, Anne Widdicombe was much shorter and more softly spoken than I was expecting, I was surprised. Grant Bovey was not so good looking close up - I was a bit disappointed!
I met Jimmy Saville twice when I was a child, I don't remember anything about him apart from the cigar!
My son works in the Drag Industry so I've met lots of Drag Queens, if you count any of them as celebs.

Sinead O’Connor when her second baby was newborn. She was filming and staying in the hotel I worked in. She was washing out bsbygros in the bath and draping them out the window. A very shy and unassuming person; she had zero airs and was genuinely thankful for the tiniest of kindnesses. This was in 1995/6.

AnnieMaeve · 04/01/2024 22:32

In my younger days (and his!) met the then Prince Charles.

I was expecting stuffy and old fashioned, when in fact he was in full Army combats and came across as quite the action man.

XelaM · 04/01/2024 22:34

James Norton was absolutely lovely and incredibly chatty when I met him outside the Harold Pinter theatre. I then met him again in the same area and he recognised me. Really really nice guy and such an incredible actor.

Joeslaol19 · 04/01/2024 22:37

Peter Andre three times in our local town . A really nice guy. Davina McCall out dog walking a few times. Always enjoy a chat .

Beezknees · 04/01/2024 22:42

Johnny Depp when he was in London for the premiere of one of the pirate films. He was very nice. This was almost 20 years ago, mind. Before all the recent allegations!

emsie12345 · 04/01/2024 22:42

I met David Guest outside of a pub, I'd asked him for a lighter before realising who he was. He was very drunk but lovely to chat to.

I've met quite a few but was going to mention Sinead too. So unassuming and genuinely funny and quite mischievous. But also very, very sweet.

There have been rather a lot of threads like this!

Oh yeah, met him too back in 1992. Kissed him on the cheek. I was 16

ConflictedCheetah · 04/01/2024 22:45

Nina Simone was cool. Total diva but then , fair enough.

SingingSands · 04/01/2024 22:45

I met Mark Gatiss and some other actors who I now can't remember (one from Poldark) after a show he was in at a local theatre. My friend knows the Poldark man and is an actress herself so was very luvvie with them, all whilst I was starstruck, shy and awkward. I sat next to Mark who was very calm and quiet and petted his lovely Labrador (can't remember her name either 😄). I thought he would be more outgoing but was rather pleased he wasn't.

I met the Duke of Edinburgh at a special function when I was a teenager, we had a brief conversation but I didn't know who he was. I was on my way to the buffet when he intercepted me. I remember he was engaging to talk to but he could clearly see I was eyeing up the beige delights and kept it short!

Will jump on with the obligatory Anthony Head is lovely. Wilf taught him the sign language for vampire. He was VERY impressed!
Keith Floyd came to stay when he was going out with my sisters best friend.. He asked my sister for a mallet to shut me up.and then stuck up for me when a family member was unkind.
Joan Hickson when they filmed a Miss Marple in our farmhouse. Lovely and.fluffy just like her character.
Didn't meet per see but David Bowie smiled at me at an auction many years ago and was most amused when I slid down my chair in shock.
When I was a child my parents were friend with Nigel Davenport and Maria Aitken and they all used to drink in our local pub. I used to play outside with a young Jack Davenport but I can't really remember it!
I see and chat to Amanda Donahoe and Peter Purves on our local shop!
I expect there are others but will post if and when I remember...

bracemyselfagain · 04/01/2024 22:48

I met Lenny Henry - to say he was tall would be an understatement! Although I was only 12 at the time. Cool/calm energy to him though :)

LoveLuna · 04/01/2024 22:51

Just remembered I met Hugh Bonneville in the pub once, didn't recognise him! My friend had to tell me who he was, after she'd picked herself up off the floor.

I met Princess Diana in Oct 1981. She visited the maternity ward on the day my DS was born. She was lovely and appeared to be very down to earth (which was weird to say the least).

I also met (now Queen) Camilla, who attended an event that my DGS was singing at in 2017. She was lovely and appeared to be very down to earth (A double weird whammy!) Charles had a stick up his arse though.

I’ve met a few “celebrities”. All came across as lovely (when the cameras were running) except Prince Charles, Lucie Jones (a right Diva!) and Elton John.

I met Dave Bartram - Showaddywaddy (My heartthrob in the 70’s) He was a total let down. Very ignorant and up himself.

David Essex and Donny Osmond were happy to chat to their fans and sign autographs off camera.

Mumsgirls · 04/01/2024 23:09

Johnny Walker was doing a disco in Bournemouth when I was a teenager and he was a big star dj. He left the decks and got me up for a dance, asking my boyfriend if it was ok. He was a perfect gent. He was very good looking and so cool. Always remember when I hear him on the radio

BringMeSunshine48 · 04/01/2024 23:31

Michael Jackson and Madonna came to my house one evening for a cheese and wine event.
Both were quiet and unassuming but really friendly.
Not really. I've never met a celebrity.

PuneorPlayonWords · 04/01/2024 23:44

John Hurt fell asleep at event I was at before I got to say hello. I met Boyzone (original 6 members) about a week after their legendary Late, Late Show performance. They were very nice to a gaggle of annoying 14 year olds.

Firefly2009 · 05/01/2024 00:09

Also watching to see if anyone has met Ricky Gervais.

CountryShepherd · 05/01/2024 00:18

Ruth Jones is a friend of a friend and she joined our virtual book group during lockdown. She was absolutely lovely, really down to earth.

I told her a scandalous story from my family history, she laughed a lot and I've wondered if I'll ever see it rewritten by her for tv!

blahhblahhblahh · 05/01/2024 00:21

I was at school with Hannah Waddingham, and she was horrible. Absolute bully. In fairness, it was decades ago and she may have changed. I certainly hope so, for the sake of those around her.
