I was with my disabled mum and my nan earlier in a supermarket, She had parked in a disabled parking space. We did a small shop then returned to the car and put two bags into the boot, A man in a waiting car shouted to ask if I was 'going to fucking be all night' I got in the car and Mum held her blue badge up to show him then reversed and went to drive away when we heard what sounded like rocks being thrown at the car, Still not sure what it was but he threw something from his car which hit my mums.

Mum stopped the car to check what happened and as soon as she stopped the guy got out of his car opened the back passenger door of my mums car and snatched my phone out of my hands and threw it across the carpark, It smashed into bits. He then grabbed my elbow and dragged me out of the car onto my knees. He then called my mum (trigger warning for the words he used) a spastic cunt and walked back to his car as I got back into my mums and she tried to drive away.

To get out we genuinely had to drive by him and the guy ran back up to the car asking why we were going back around near his family, he then looked at me and asked if I wanted some more.

Was going to report it to the supermarket security but felt so intimidated that we just left. I did call them to let them know what had happened and they said if the police contact them they can send the cctv. Once we got to my nans house my nan, who had been sat in the front with my mum told me she got my mums phone and managed to record the entire thing from him running up to the car and opening the door to us trying to leave the carpark and him coming back etc.

I know this isnt the thing to be focusing on but I saved up for two years for that phone and only had it two weeks, Didn't even manage to get to my next payday on the 3rd to get it insured, I wasn't even filming him was just holding my phone.

What is likely to happen from here once the police have been?

I didn't want to read and run but what presence of mind your nan had! Super star.

The whole thing sounds extremely frightening OP. I am sure the police will take it seriously.

BoobyDazzler · 27/12/2023 19:08

How terrifying for you. Is he identifiable at all? If you don’t have any luck with the police i’d post the video all over social media- the daily mail would love it.

2dogsandabudgie · 27/12/2023 19:08

Hopefully your nan will have managed to get his registration number or it will be on the supermarket's CCTV. I hope you press charges for criminal damage and assault.

Pollyannamex · 27/12/2023 19:09

That’s awful! I hope he is identifiable from the video and the police catch him. Disgusting behaviour.

LuluBlakey1 · 27/12/2023 19:10

That's really awful and frightening. Are you alright physically? I'm really sorry this happened to you.

The police will want a statement. If your grandma has the phone footage and it identifies him and his car they can probably get an address, or at least get clearer footage from the supermarket and try to track him down. He'll be arrested and interviewed and probably charged if the footage clearly identifies him or you and your mum/gran can identify him. He sounds deranged.

verylongshot · 27/12/2023 19:14

clearly got his face and his car in the video, Also forgot to mention his wife who got out of the car to join him, their two toddlers and a baby with her.

Oh my, how frightening for you all. Well done to your nan for being so quick thinking. I’m so sorry about your phone.
Have a strong cup of tea and a sugary snack. You’ll be in shock, OP. Your poor mum and nan too. Feel terrible for all of you.

JaneEyreBedHair · 27/12/2023 19:17

That is terrifying and shocking OP. I hope you are all ok. I hope the police can identify this man and get justice for you. 💐💐

verylongshot · 27/12/2023 19:19

The more I'm thinking about it the more pissed off I feel, My mum uses a mobility scooter, is severly disabled and he called her that all over a parking space when there was plenty others to park in all around us. No idea how my nan managed to film it, I just froze up when he grabbed me. I also feel sorry for their kids who have to be around people like that with a temper like that over something so small.

Two toddlers and a baby. Those little souls must’ve been terrified though sadly, I suspect they’re used to it.

nameychangio675 · 27/12/2023 19:20

What a psycho. None of that shocks me sadly - I feel like this stuff gets worse and worse. Hope you are ok op.

BrieAndChilli · 27/12/2023 19:20

Just imagine what his wife and kids have to go through probably daily! Hopefully the police can charge him and maybe the wife will be able to leave him.

mayorofcasterbridge · 27/12/2023 19:22

Go Nan! That's awesome.

Hope you're not too badly shaken up and the police identify the violent bastard of a thug.

hollyholey · 27/12/2023 19:23

Hi OP I hope you are feeling better now. Terrifying and what an awful person to do this to you and your poor mum. I hope they get all they deserve in time - hopefully charged with assault or whatever is appropriate for this behaviour - and the appropriate sentence of course.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 27/12/2023 19:23

What a prince amongst men he is. Please report to the police. They and the CPS will decide whether to prosecute, but it's a hate crime and he assaulted you. Watch out for the shock of this hitting you later.

Tittiesthattouchmytors · 27/12/2023 19:23

Let’s hope they get help ( and a bloody good fright) when SS are called because neither adult can control themselves and kids are witnessing abusive behaviour. If he does this in public, image what he is like behind closed doors!

givemethetea · 27/12/2023 19:26

Well done to your Nan! The police should be able to track him through his reg plate (if it's on the video or cctv) and match him to the footage! If you give a statement and they do track him, he should be be arrested or invited in for an interview under caution

RaininSummer · 27/12/2023 19:26

What an awful man. I hope you and family are ok. Hopefully police can prosecute as your clever nan filmed it. What a shame about your phone.

Daleksatemyshed · 27/12/2023 19:26

Your Nan is a very sensible woman and I applaud her calmness under very trying conditions! I'm so sorry you had to go through such a nasty experience Op, you must have been very frightened and worried he'd turn on your DM. He sounds like a complete bastard and I really hope the police will find him and make him pay for being such a sorry excuse for a human being.

givemethetea · 27/12/2023 19:27

It will probably (should) trigger a safeguarding referral for the family too with behaviour like that infront of kids

Moveoverdarlin · 27/12/2023 19:28

That sounds terrifying. I hope you, your Mum and Nan are ok. I think the police will take this seriously and if they have the number plate, it’ll be easy to track them down. To think this scumbag had children with him.

givemethetea · 27/12/2023 19:30

Also, if he does get interviewed for the offence and he admits it, depending on his history they could give him a conditional caution with the condition that he buys you a like for like phone! The caution would also go on his record

newnamechangeforthisone · 27/12/2023 19:31

How awful! What an awful thing to happen to you.

Exasperatednow · 27/12/2023 19:32

That's awful. Your nan has great presence of mind. I hope he is caught

LaviniasBigBloomers · 27/12/2023 19:33

What an awful thing to happen to you! Do you need to go and get checked over?

Well done Nan, when you report it to the police remember and say it's a hate crime. Disability is a protected characteristic.
