Was attacked by a stranger a few hours ago, Waiting for the police

I was with my disabled mum and my nan earlier in a supermarket, She had parked in a disabled parking space. We did a small shop then returned to the car and put two bags into the boot, A man in a waiting car shouted to ask if I was 'going to fucking be all night' I got in the car and Mum held her blue badge up to show him then reversed and went to drive away when we heard what sounded like rocks being thrown at the car, Still not sure what it was but he threw something from his car which hit my mums.

Mum stopped the car to check what happened and as soon as she stopped the guy got out of his car opened the back passenger door of my mums car and snatched my phone out of my hands and threw it across the carpark, It smashed into bits. He then grabbed my elbow and dragged me out of the car onto my knees. He then called my mum (trigger warning for the words he used) a spastic cunt and walked back to his car as I got back into my mums and she tried to drive away.

To get out we genuinely had to drive by him and the guy ran back up to the car asking why we were going back around near his family, he then looked at me and asked if I wanted some more.

Was going to report it to the supermarket security but felt so intimidated that we just left. I did call them to let them know what had happened and they said if the police contact them they can send the cctv. Once we got to my nans house my nan, who had been sat in the front with my mum told me she got my mums phone and managed to record the entire thing from him running up to the car and opening the door to us trying to leave the carpark and him coming back etc.

I know this isnt the thing to be focusing on but I saved up for two years for that phone and only had it two weeks, Didn't even manage to get to my next payday on the 3rd to get it insured, I wasn't even filming him was just holding my phone.

What is likely to happen from here once the police have been?

Take pics of knees (dirtied trousers?) and arm where he dragged you if any redness or bruising too!

Small claims court for phone is a good idea but you’ll need name and full address to serve (?) which I doubt the police will give you. Also will take months if you get it so won’t help now.

Is the screen smashed or is it totally busted?

Awful experience OP and probably will make you all worried about going out again. Hope the police are helpful 💐

FlamingoQueen · 27/12/2023 20:29

I hope the Police throw the book at him. I’m so sorry you have had to go through this. Can I suggest that you don’t post this on Facebook (yet) just in case it affects the Police investigation. Let us know how you get on.

wronginalltherightways · 27/12/2023 20:29

Please call the police. Please.

You can only imagine how he treats his own family if he's happy to do that in front of them, too.

Power to your nan for having presence of mind to record him. And the store will provide CCTV to the police.

WhatsInStoreFor2024 · 27/12/2023 20:31

It won't be his first offence. Sounds like a Gang case

He may even be on a recall if he's that volatile

Hope you are all ok

WhatsInStoreFor2024 · 27/12/2023 20:31

GBH not gang

readingismycardio · 27/12/2023 20:32

I am so sorry for what you, your poor mum and nan had to go through. I'm terrified by the world we live in. I hope they get the fucker soon. What a star your nan is! Flowers

return2sender · 27/12/2023 20:33

What a horrible man. I'm so sorry this happened. Hopefully they will get him and charge him. Well done to your nan. X

BlazingJune · 27/12/2023 20:37

These horrible experiences of road rage are often posted on social media and find their way to the Mail and the villains are easily found that way.

It was clearly horrible for you all.

In future- small tip- have lockable doors so they can't be opened from the outside. Mine lock automatically once in the car, within, seconds. Does your mum's car have them?

Am I right to think you are quite young if your mum was driving and your nan was a passenger?

Were there any witnesses?

coldandmiserableinbirmingham · 27/12/2023 20:37

Tge police will trace him through his cars number plate

Thecatmaster · 27/12/2023 20:38

Well done Nan. Now remember to photograph any injuries. It might also help for you to each write out what happened whilst still fresh in your mind. Also say that you are concerned for the welfare of the toddlers and babies, given his volatility. They should log that too and notify ss.

BlazingJune · 27/12/2023 20:40

If he was able to drag you out of the car once it had been moving, were not held in by your seat belt? (Just something to think about when talking to the police.) If your mum had drive off, then stopped, you should have still been belted in. (It's an offence not to and the driver is responsible for their passengers.)

I think it's only an offence on a public road and not a car park.

cerisepanther73 · 27/12/2023 20:47

@verylongshot

I second that, definitely put this incriminating recording your nan did on social media sites

💯 must do that,

BlazingJune · 27/12/2023 20:48

what was his point?

were you in a parking space he needed and did he have a blue badge?

Was there no other disabled bays and who needed them? Clearly not him if he was that quick on his feet.

Ginburee · 27/12/2023 20:48

This sounds dreadful, please report ot to 101.
If he does that in public what happens behind closed doors.

BlazingJune · 27/12/2023 20:48

The Mail will be on your case if you sent them the video.

cerisepanther73 · 27/12/2023 20:49

Totally agree take photos of any injuries inflicted on you by this raging Arsehole 😤 of a man...

PurpleOrchid42 · 27/12/2023 20:49

verylongshot · 27/12/2023 19:14

clearly got his face and his car in the video, Also forgot to mention his wife who got out of the car to join him, their two toddlers and a baby with her.

Gosh, I hope you're not offended by me saying this, but I'm very worried for that baby and those children! If he did that to your family, over a parking space, how is he behaving towards those children, when they cry, or tantrum, as toddlers do? I hope the police get social services involved, because he sounds dangerous. Very upsetting.

Itsbeginingtolookalotlikexmas · 27/12/2023 20:50

That’s a horrible thing to happened to you. It sends a chill down my spine to think of that poor woman and young children who are alone with him at home now.

Anothenamechange · 27/12/2023 20:52

Didn't want to read and run. You poor, poor thing, I am so angry on your behalf! I've noticed that people seem to have absolutely hair trigger tempers these days , especially on the road and it's horrible. I was assaulted by a man little while ago in my local park because I was driving too slowly and it was the most frightening thing that has happened to me-and it wasn't anywhere near as bad as what you've described.

I really hope that the police take it seriously and I strongly encourage you to take it to your local MP if they don't. Big hug xx

cerisepanther73 · 27/12/2023 20:52

Definitely report tell the police how extremely concerned about the welfare of those small toddlers and baby
especially he is so hot headed and volatile, what if he losed his temper with the little ones in his care

Heaven Forbid

As an aside isn't it interesting that when MN wants something to be put out there the much maligned DM is their first choice!

Andthereyougo · 27/12/2023 20:55

That is truly scary.
Try to take some positives, clear evidence from your nan’s phone and probably supermarket cctv will trace him. Possibly already known to police. I’m almost sure SS will be contacted as they involved their small children, fingers crossed the children are protected in the future.
You can insist the police treat it as a hate crime.
You should be contacted by victim support and you can claim for damages ( VS will advise) or I can find a link for you.
For now look after yourselves, get checked over by a doctor and all injuries photographed.

BlazingJune · 27/12/2023 20:58

you need to get the police to photograph your injuries.
