Just curious as I'm 51 and they're still regular.

Nonentity2023 · 23/11/2023 21:48

@PurplePansy05 mine just completely stopped out of the blue at 38.

(My mother was in her fifties with hers, but her sister was only 28.)

Greengagesummer65 · 23/11/2023 21:53

I was 45, still feels incredibly early, felt I lost my 40s with the worst menopause known to womankind.
Had six hot flushes today and I’m 58, they seem to be endless.

MariaMeringue · 23/11/2023 22:05

47

cousinsfriends · 23/11/2023 22:14

Bangerwheel · 23/11/2023 22:22

shellyleppard · 23/11/2023 22:32

Fantasia99..... what would you like to know??? For some women it can take up to 10 years for it to happen. Some women go through it without even realising. Other's its more intense. You need to be period free for 12 months or more to be in the menopause. Just be careful of bone problems once its happened....some women develop brittle bones due to falling hormones. I'm 54 and finally gone through it.

redautumnleaves · 23/11/2023 22:45

I've had my last ever period in February as I had a hysterectomy in March! It's the best every feeling knowing I'll never again suffer the pain and bleeding and utter hell of periods. I'm of menopausal age, but no sign that my periods were going to stop anytime soon. It's shocking how much periods can cause havoc with our lives.

KnittedCardi · 23/11/2023 23:06

57 and still plodding along. Started HRT recently and in fact they have messed up my regularity, I don't get withdrawal bleeds, just random, whenever bleeds. Maybe my system is over-riding the HRT and they are becoming less regular. No idea......

DinosApple · 23/11/2023 23:06

DM was 45, she couldn't have HRT as it disagreed with her in some way.
Poor mum had a horrendous time of it in peri menopause and now she's late 60s with osteoporosis.

I await my fate! Early 40s, occasional night sweats, mood swings and slight changes in regularity...

curaçao · 23/11/2023 23:07

50.same as my mum

justcantgetenough · 23/11/2023 23:07

I'm 52 and been having about one period a year for the last couple off years. But this year had 2 periods about 6 months apart and they lasted along time, last one I was bleeding for 14 days.

I wish they'd stop, I was feeling awful with PMT before last one, really down, ratty and then my period started, I was like oh yeah that's why I felt so bad, forgotten how bad PMT was.

Gingerlygreen · 23/11/2023 23:08

I'm 48 and haven't had a period for 11 months and the one before that was 9 months, other than a few hot flushes I've felt fine.

justjuggling · 23/11/2023 23:28

42 with several hellish years of peri before that. Similar for all the women in my family - aunt was 39, mum was 40, etc.

Chickydoo · 23/11/2023 23:29
  1. Just didn't have another period. A few night sweats in the months prior. Just stopped, no other symptoms. Love not having periods, no awful hormonal shit, painful boobs, PMT..feel bloody marvellous now.
Violinist64 · 23/11/2023 23:30

I was 49. I had an endometrial ablation which stopped everything. It was such a relief after everything that had gone before and I had virtually no menopause symptoms. It’s been nearly ten years now and I don’t miss them at all. I was 14 when I started. My mother had a hysterectomy in her late forties so neither of us know when they would have stopped naturally. My sister, at 53, is still going strong.

DramaAlpaca · 23/11/2023 23:39

I started my periods at 13, and they began being irregular and heavier when I was 44. Had a Mirena coil put in at 46 and never had another period. Got the Mirena taken out at 53 and held my breath in case my periods came back, but they didn't. So because of the coil I don't actually know when my periods would've stopped naturally.

stepintochristmas1 · 23/11/2023 23:51

PurplePansy05 · 23/11/2023 19:47

Those of you whose periods stopped in late 30s, were they irregular beforehand? Any signs at all of perimenopause when you think back? I'm finding it worrying some of you say it happened out of the blue (I'm nearing late 30s and considering another DC).

No mine weren't irregular just normal just stopped age 39 never to be seen again . No hot flushes , nothing .

ollypollymolly · 23/11/2023 08:17

Apparently after the menopause you need a third LESS calories. Has anyone noticed this ?

My body seems to think it's a quarter!

Aydel · 24/11/2023 00:04

I was 54. Stopped suddenly. No hot flushes or any symptoms.

caringcarer · 24/11/2023 01:16
  1. My Mum's periods stopped at 54 but then bizarrely came back 8 years later. She started to bleed but only a bit each month and thought she might have cancer. She was tested by GP but to her astonishment he said periods. Apparently she still had a few eggs left.
caringcarer · 24/11/2023 01:26

My last 4 periods before they stopped were horrendous. They only lasted 2-3 days but during the first 2 days I had to use supper plus plus tampons with maternity night time pads and flooded after 25 -30 minutes. I had to stay home from work they were so bad.

coxesorangepippin · 24/11/2023 01:32

God I thought it was more like 45

😳🥲

IntheSnowySnowyMountains · 24/11/2023 01:34

Interesting to see so many finishing later than (I think) average. I can't contribute because I've been on long-term GnRH medication for endometriosis since I was 44. I'm 56 now and could probably stop it, given the average age for menopause is around 51 (?). I'm quite nervous about stopping, as it's been such a great solution for me. I would hate symptoms to come back because I didn't stay on it long enough. Doctor says I can stay on it till I'm 60, so will keep going for the moment!

Catsmere · 24/11/2023 01:37

About 54, 55, I think.

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 24/11/2023 01:39
