I'm absolutely devasted if this is true

I very rarely ever watch a tv series twice. But I've watched Friends time and time again over the years.

One of the very few programmes I would come home early to watch as a teenager.

It would never have been what it was/is without Chandler, and Chandler certainly would never have been who he was without Matthew Perry playing him.

This genuinely made my heart jump when I read it, and not in a good way.

Having read his autobiography I was surprised he was still with us after reading the first couple of chapters. 'Friends' to most of us was a staple of TV viewing of the 90s and (really) ever since (on repeat).

RIP Matthew Perry.

I can't count the number of times his performance has made me laugh. Even on the worst day, an episode of Friends can make me smile. This is genuinely very sad news. What an incredible talent gone far too soon. Rest in peace.

Friends was such an iconic and influential show. I have watched in every year since about 1999.

He was always my favourite Friend.
He was the funniest.
But always the most tortured..

Very sad. A very talented man but he struggled with his addictions and subsequently ill health for many years. So young, such a waste. RIP Matthew.

He was so talented but very troubled. This is very sad.

Such sad news, like so many Friends got me through so much, I grew up with a terrible mother and friends became my escape. My room was covered in posters, I knew every line!

He was my favourite and I’d say I had a crush on him for a good 15 years! I met him in real life and he was lovely. Feeling very sad today, he is finally at peace though, but what a huge loss. When I saw him at the reunion I started to make my peace that he may go soon, not a well man.

No age at all. Guess if he had a heart attack or even just passed out with nobody about and you’re in a hot tub you can drown.

It's huge. His last insta post was a photo of him in it. In fact, his insta has gone from nothing all year to 7 very odd posts over the last week sending out bat signals and making cranberries references asking followers if they know what he was trying to tell them.

Very sad news. Chandler Bing was always my favourite character in Friends. I rewatched the whole series a couple of years ago. It was just as funny and enjoyable as ever.

Having read his autobiography earlier this year, though, I was surprised he'd survived that long. He was a very talented actor, but he was in a lifelong hold of a terrible addiction which had probably done so much damage to his body. I'm sure he knew he wasn't destined to make old bones, but 54 was no age. RIP Matthew Perry 😢 💐

Oh this is so sad. So young. His poor family. Going to rewatch friends for 100th time today, feels like a real loss.
