Wobbly, emotional day for no particular reason yesterday (perimenopause?)

Had a choir rehearsal where we were working on Christmas stuff and everything was making me cry. Don't get me wrong, I cry a lot at music anyway, but it was really setting me off. We're doing again this beautiful modern carol by a local composer that we premiered in 2016, and we sang through 'The Shepherds' Farewell' by Berlioz that always makes me cry. I even cried at the super cheesy Arthur Sullivan 'The Lost Chord'.

Less wonky today but tired as didn't sleep brilliantly.

EmmaEmerald · 29/11/2023 23:39

@Echobelly music makes lots of people tear up.

bizzey · 29/11/2023 23:44

Ohh @Echobelly ..hope you are feeling a bit better now.

I am way passed anything to do with menopause...but I still well up at beautiful music .

I was outside Winchester Cathedral some months ago and was getting very emotional just hearing them practice.

Beautiful sounds.

bizzey · 29/11/2023 23:46

I have a phone line working finally !

But now the water is not working again 😭.

It seems to have run out !

HelenaJustina · 30/11/2023 06:48

Listening to our school choir sing a beautiful German carol made me well up a bit this week Echo it’s that time of year!
Have got a catch up with my tutor tomorrow re course progress, have not done as much as I’d hoped and not much chance of catching up on two weeks work today!

Echobelly · 30/11/2023 10:43

Much better today. I slept in spare room as dh was snoring and the sound of kids normally wakes me up in time but I slept through and only woke 40 mins late when I heard my son call goodbye from downstairs! I decided rather than rushing I'd just get into work slightly late and work a bit later, as I'm meeting DH in town for a film anyway. That extra 40 mins sleep was good for me though!

Silkiefloof · 30/11/2023 15:57

Hope MRI goes OK Bizzey

Have a lovely time in Wales Iwandered

That's one full on Christmas holidays you have there Havoc but will be wonderful to have 2 Havocs.

Have a nice time in Boston MissC

Floof was quite sick today, first time ever, but back to playing so seems OK. DD at school. DH very busy with work. Had a homemade apple cake and DS has eaten about half of it by himself, all gone in less than 8 hours. Impressive.

Swimming tonight. Just had a PM from the lovely Knotty & Pitsey who organise the woolly hug blankets when people have died and they are organising one for a lovely lady on the cancer thread Mowly (Fay) who was a similar age to me with a 5 year old girl who just died of stage 4 breast cancer.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/11/2023 16:44

Very sad, Silkie.

Silkiefloof · 30/11/2023 17:24

Yes it was so sad Havoc She was in a lot of pain and fed up of cancer treatment and for herself had had enough but wanted to stay alive to see her DD grow up. She sent me 3 PMs on the morning she died and her last one was saying how she wanted to get the house ready for Christmas for her daughter but couldn't get out of bed. 😥She did have an interesting life though and lived longer than her Mum who I think died in early 30s.

Deathraystare · 30/11/2023 17:29

@Echobelly

I am sure at 63 I have passed through the other side of Menopause but still feel like I have PMS at times. I can get quite grizzly at stuff on tv (not necessarily sad stuff, even happy stuff and as for music......

@Mumtobabyhavoc

We are just having the normal food there so that will be macaroni cheese with garlic bread for me!

@bizzey

That is shit that you are still having problems.

@Silkiefloof

Floof does sound better. Wonder what it was?

@HelenaJustina

Yes I tear up to with choirs, brass bands and weirdly ambulance and fire sirens!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/11/2023 17:31

Silkie, that really breaks my heart. It's my worst nightmare, really. Life is so bloody unfair. I lost my best friend to aggressive cancer as well and I understand. I'm glad she was in contact with you and that you were there for her. I hope you are ok. 🩷💐

whyyy321 · 30/11/2023 18:58

I get the ambulance siren thing too, death!

That's very sad silkie, I lost my mum just a few years ago - I feel very sad for her daughter, what a tragedy.

No news from the job yet re: registration, but hopefully tomorrow. In more boring news, I'm staying in a hotel for work tonight and just tried to dry my hair with the hairdryer they provide- 30 min later and still damp! Now waiting for a burger delivery- feels like a real treat having a hotel room all to myself, and no DS to steal half my burger or wake me up! Shame about work though, haha.

MissConductUS · 30/11/2023 20:58

Silkie, I'm so sorry about your friend. Great strides have been made in treatment in the last few decades, but I don't know if we'll see a cure. Cancer is bound into our biology as multicellular lifeforms. This article explains it brilliantly.

Why Cancer Isn’t Going Anywhere - It’s been with us since the origins of multicellularity. It’s part of who we are.

Boston will be a nice change, but it's a long train trip for such a short meeting, and Boston will be freezing cold next week.

I'm glad Floof is better. Cats have very strong immune systems.

DS now has a job interview locally, so he's not just focusing on jobs in Boston.

Cancer Has Been With Us Since the Origins of Multicellularity, and It’s Not Going Anywhere

Thanks Death Seems fine now, suspect he might have eaten something he shouldn't have though no idea what but he eats everything in sight at the speed of light.

So sorry about your best friend Havoc sending you a big hug. I am OK, I only knew her via MN cancer threads and PMs though had all her details and fond of her. We did talk about meeting with Floof but never happened.

So sorry about your Mum why I really feel for her daughter at 5 to lose your Mum and also a 50% chance she will get same cancer.

Glad your DS has another interview and thanks MissC Things are improving and hopefully in that girls lifetime things will improve a lot more and she will live to see her kids grow up and not have it passed on.

Just went swimming and now having a cup of tea. I did endo saliva tests which they have been after me for about a year. Poor nurse. Got about 4 people's ideas for Fay's woolly hug blanket so that's fine and done. DD was drunk when we got back and very giggly, first time ever seen her like that.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 01/12/2023 04:25

Just a little Hello. 🩷
Git Havoc out for Santa pic then we picked out a Christmas tree! 🥳
So, will now sort lights and decorate tree and deck before bed (I hope!).
Have got How the Grinch Stole Christmas on tv and Havoc is mesmerized. 😵‍💫

Too tired to do decos...
having cheese omelette, roasted potatoes and asparagus and cottage cheese. Bed soon.

Deathraystare · 01/12/2023 08:13

@Silkiefloof and @Mumtobabyhavoc

That is so so sad. I remember expecting the worse when Mum got cancer. I thought she would be wracked in pain, wasting away i a hospice but no died painlessly.

Even I am feeling the cold. These past few years I have really noticed the cold. SO I bought some hats and gloves and socks in Primark. Of course, when the weather is cold you are supposed to wear such things aren't you? Cue me at the bus stop early this morning. Hat less. Gloveless. Sockless. My head is so full of what to pack for my holiday on Sunday. Torquay not Torremalinos so we are talking jumpers here!

Tilllly · 01/12/2023 08:25

How're you doing @Silkiefloof?

And has floof remained vomiting free?

I remember once, Yumyum on the windowsill, sick without warning... it all dripped into the radiator folds....

I remember in one of Doreen Tovey's books about her Siamese cats, how one of them was sick down the back of a carved wooden chair; and sat mesmerised, watching the vomit trickle down the carving :D.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 01/12/2023 17:22

Death, I'm sorry you lost your mum to it. 🩷

I managed about 7 hours sleep, but woke up getting a charlie horse! Ouch!!!
So, awake I was, got up, folded laundry, put another load on to wash and made banana bread. Meeting a friend shortly for a quick coffee and catch-up. She doesn't know about baby coming and hasn't seen Havoc in about a year. ☺️

bizzey · 01/12/2023 17:40

Humm Havoc ...i wonder if she will mention that err...you seem to have put a bit of a tummy on you since she last saw you 😂!

Have a lovely catch up !

MissConductUS · 01/12/2023 19:30

Our last vet, who had cats himself, told me that cats just throw up a lot. It's a feature, not a bug. Ours do it when they eat their dry food too fast.

The save-the-date cards came last night, and they are really lovely. DD originally wanted to send emails instead to save money, but we convinced her that mailing a card was much more reliable. People like to put them on their fridge too.

I got the envelopes stuffed and stamped last night and dropped them off at the post office this morning.

That sounds lovely Havoc

Have a lovely holiday Death

I'm fine Tillly thanks. Had a lovely time this evening with DH at a botanical gardens Christmas lights which also had music and we had soup, ginger cake and hot choc with cream. How are you feeling?

Glad save the date cards are good MissC. Floof has been fine. DD said she thinks he ate some cake in her room so that would explain it, she said she left some cake then it was gone.

Sounds like a really nice evening out, Silkie! Love the pics and the meal you had sounds yum! ☺️

Had a very nice visit with friend for almost 2 hours. It was quite amusing watching her expression Bizzey when I took my coat off! When she asked my due date and I told her just after Christmas jaw dropped and she said, Are you kidding? I was that big at 6 months!!!! 🤣 (I think I mentioned I've not gained much; about 8-10 lbs and it's all boobs and belly! 🤣)

Anyway, just had a latte and banana bread. Havoc has had a snack, stripped off clothes and wants Hallowe'en costume on. Is now putting on rain boots...🤷‍♀️ Plan is to start decos on deck and get tree up once Havoc naps.

Miss, I'm with you re save the date. I still have a magnetic one on my fridge from several years ago because it's such a nice pic of my friend and her then fiancé and the wedding etc is a nice memory. Maybe for thank you cards it would be a good idea?! Magnetic, wedding pic, Thank you for the lovely gift, mssg? Hmmm...I should start that business! 💡😂

Hope everyone had a good Friday and now enjoying a relaxing evening. 🩷

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/12/2023 00:44

Well, the tree is in the stand 🤬;
have got a string of lights on deck railing👍;
and have switched out burned out bulbs from a string of lights.
Now making a quick dinner and leaving shortly for a lighting of Christmas lights event at a local garden for a bit. 😅
