Rubbish day here re workmen wise..

He said he was coming this afternoon to paint the ceilings of hallway and bathroom.

I cleared out the whole bathroom..

And the hallway..

All now in my room...

And they didn't come 😭.

Messaged him.
He will come tomorrow.

I can't settle and organise things or do things with this hanging over me 😔.

But on a fun note ...

DS and I have been watching I am a celebrity get me out of here ..
Together !!

It has been a real fun few evenings we have had together and we have been laughing lots.

I check out the MN thread for comments and of course ..he checks ot the " what's trending" stuff.

bizzey · 22/11/2023 00:09

Is ...I am a celebrity get me out of here ..well known enough across the pond ?

QuestionableMouse · 22/11/2023 00:43

I've been doing IPL for my chin and lip hairs and it's starting to work! Chin is much less hairy and my lip hair seems less coarse!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/11/2023 01:08

Just got home from afternoon at shopping mall with Havoc. Bought Havoc Christmas pj's and new baby a onesie for coming home; another shop is holding two sets of pj's for me for sale starting on Thursday (pregnant lady luck?).
Just making a cup of tea and toast with melted cheese for a snack. Havoc refusing to take off boots, jacket and get out of stroller, so is sitting in hall at front door. 🤷‍♀️
Oh, well. Will snack and catch up on thread. 😄

Math, dough recipe hasn't failed me yet. Mssg if any questions.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/11/2023 01:57

Silkie, has the school board still not accepted your DS into class? I just realized you haven't mentioned in a while.
I just googled hedgehogs as didn't know much about them. Very interesting.
Death, the lights really make it feel like Christmas. Will you be trying for something again this season?
Miss, I likely made the dough/pizza recipe sound more difficult than it is. 🤦‍♀️ I promise you it's dead easy.
Bizzey, sounds like a fun time with your ds. I know the tv show (US version), but haven't really watched; I think it's on a channel I don't subscribe to now. We all need a bit of guilty pleasure tv. Frustrating about repair delays, though...

I might make a pumpkin pie this weekend to share the Thanksgiving spirit of my southern neighbours... I've got a good recipe tucked away. 🤔😋
It is so nice to see the decos up in the malls, businesses, some houses already. 🥰
I need to add "Santa pic" for Havoc to my list before I get too big/tired as lack of motivation is already setting in. I am 33 weeks today.

Something cute to share: have got The Voice on tv. Havoc claps hands at the end of each performance. Also laughs along with anyone laughing on tv. My heart could burst. 🩷🥹

Silkiefloof · 22/11/2023 02:06

Yes its late in the year for a hedgehog Bizzey DH was so proud we have a hedgehog. I looked it up and said they eat cat biscuits so DH took it some. Floof looked a bit bewildered but then happily carried on eating his own bowl of them.

Yes not on school roll yet Havoc and they have not been in touch since September.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/11/2023 02:14

Silkie, god how frustrating (to say the least)!

halfpasteleven · 22/11/2023 03:09

Just catching up.

Sorry to hear there hasn't been much movement re your DS Sikie. Hop it improves soon but I'm sure that's probably just wishful thinking..

Lovely news Havoc, your DS sounds like he will be the best big brother..

DD just came into our bed with a head cold... sneezing and all bungee up poor thing

halfpasteleven · 22/11/2023 03:12

Ugh typos.. I shouldn't type when I'm hoping to get back to sleep!

*Hope

mathanxiety · 22/11/2023 06:01

The roof looks fine as far as I can see (but I know nothing about roofs), and I'm on the middle floor of the building, so I'm not affected by any leaks.

I'm trying to get the DCs to give me suggestions for Christmas gifts they might like, and casting my mind back to the days when they could be occupied for hours writing their sweetly misspelled lists for Santa. I want to get the shopping done online and this is the weekend to do it.

HelenaJustina · 22/11/2023 06:31

Lemons when I am in the office, the background is filled with the voices of Early Years and Key Stage 1 practising their various nativities. It’s very cute and does help with the festive feeling it’s too early for Christmas yet

HildaTablet · 22/11/2023 09:22

Math I feel your pain, I’ve been badgering various family members for Christmas present ideas and they all just shrug vaguely. One at least graciously said they ‘wouldn’t mind' a voucher - but a voucher for what? No further info was forthcoming.

The Christmas switch seems to have been flipped here and everything has suddenly become insanely festive. Pretty much every TV ad is a Christmas one and I’m already sick of them. It’s only November the 22nd!

Deathraystare · 22/11/2023 11:51

@HildaTablet

Ha HA O ne of our Philippino porters showed is his lounge on his phone complete with Christmas decorations and muzak playing in the background... in September! Apparently this is not unusual!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/11/2023 16:54

Death, I am now going to be rushing to get my place in order, decos and tree up. I try for Dec 1 every year, but want it all up and done this weekend. 😺

I managed to sleep through most of the night last night!!!! 🥳 And am now with Havoc at school waiting for the class to open. 🤓

bizzey · 22/11/2023 18:42

Workmen surprised me at 8.30 am !
No notice or heads up !

Luckily D's heard them outside talking and having a cigarette and told me.

We quickly ran into bathroom to put water on our faces and brush our teeth 🤣.

Not how we wanted to start our morning!

Had phone engineer out about the landline.
He said line was fine..bla bla blah...

Rang my mam a bit later ...and she said hello "friends name" ...
I said no ...it is me !

Long story short ...I have lost my landline number !

If I ring my mobile from the phone ..a different number to what it should be shows up 😅!

So , when the engineers were doing some work last week ...they put some leads/cables or something back wrong so I have a cross line .

So , when I ring out from my landline ...it is going onto someone else's bill !!

I suppose now is the time to do some long-distance phone calls 🤣🤣🤣!

bizzey · 22/11/2023 18:45

Ohh and LL is not happy with some of the painting they did...I sent him photos as a courtesy.

I said I would touch it up...

No he wants them to come back !

MissConductUS · 22/11/2023 21:33

Math, I owe DH my Christmas list as well. I have to sort that this weekend.

DD's flight was delayed by the rain last night, but she made it to Florida and has been texting me updates.

I had today off and spent a good bit of it getting my new laptop set up. It's a lot of work. Thank goodness you can bring over your settings from Firefox and Chrome. DH installed the security and backup software for me. It's quite a bit faster than the old one, and it has Windows 11, which my old laptop couldn't upgrade to.

I'm making the crust for the apple pie I'm bringing to my brother's house tomorrow for Thanksgiving. The weather looks fine tomorrow and it's less than an hour's drive.

@MissConductUS ooh, a new PC is a mission.

@Silkiefloof I love hedgehogs but haven't seen one for years. What's he up to now? Do they pick one person's garden to hibernate?

I had one of those days where I didn't get productive till about 4pm.

I've got so many tedious organisational jobs to do, it feels overwhelming.

I found a really good folklore podcast. I must be terrible at multi tasking though because I really have to listen and can't do anything else. I do prefer books though, but folklore books tend to be very pricey and not available at the library.

IWanderedLonely · 22/11/2023 22:04

Emma I love folklore, sounds wonderful. I also love history, old buildings and anything "woo". Never been any good at maths or science Grin

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 22/11/2023 22:17

Lemons that type of seriousness over something so basic is amusing though. Hope they don't give you a hard time.

Aww hedgehog 🦔 Silkie. I'm sure it appreciated the cat biscuits. I could do with one showing up here, I've got plenty of slugs for it which are busy eating my plants.

OMG that's so irritating Bizzey, still, at least it's done now. I hope they show up to finish it.

Lovely way to start the day Whyyy.

I've been making friends with the neighbours cat 🐱

Tilllly · 22/11/2023 22:33

A colleague brought me a bottle of wine today, just cos for

sproutsandparsnips · 22/11/2023 23:08

Silkie, such a cute hedgehog. I hope we have one in our garden, I haven't seen it but I have seen some poo I googled......
Bizzey glad they turned up even though was unexpected!
Death and Havoc I have just booked to go with a friend to Luminate as DSs refused to come 😢
Nice to hear from you again Lemons!
In slightly exciting news I have passed my prescribing course so no more exams/assignments for a bit.

sproutsandparsnips · 22/11/2023 23:09

Miss apple pie sounds delicious.....

QuestionableMouse · 22/11/2023 23:41

Decided to put my tree up tomorrow! I've been feeling a bit down and I'm hoping it'll cheer me up!

bizzey · 22/11/2023 23:55

Ohh @QuestionableMouse ..have fun ! Hopefully it will give you a lift!

I am thinking of putting mine up a bit earlier than usual this year as well...but not November!

I always leave it too late due to other things taking over ..and do it all so halfheartedly...in a ..oh well , it is up now ...that will do 😅.

But this year...I have a new tree that is just staring at me every time I open the cupboard..

My birthday is in December and it was always tradition that the Christmas stuff always went up after my birthday.

But it does narrow down my organisational skills a bit 🤣
