@GonnaGetGoingReturns, what are the fireworks for? Our cats hate them too. They hide under the beds when they're done.

Tillly, how long until the MRI results are back?

It's good to have life back to normal with internet, TV and power. And speaking of TV, my addiction to British TV continues. I love my subscription to Acorn, and I just recently found out that it's a BBC commercial service. I just finished watching both seasons of Harry Wild (Jane Seymour is fabulous in that role) and have just started watching Loch Ness.

We had a Zoom call with DD last night and talked about the wording for the wedding invitations and what to do with the nine children who have been invited. The venue will do children's meals for them (at the full, adult price of course), and there's a separate room off of the main space where they can eat. I wonder how that would work out without parental supervision.

It was cold but sunny yesterday, so my ginger boy was on the windowsill getting some sun. The cabinet in the second picture is one of his safe spaces, and yes, that's a heating pad he's lying on.

The heron is still here. I wonder if he or she will eventually move south as it gets colder.

I also spotted this rather large bird, but I have no idea of the species. Does anyone recognize it?

In other news, I have abandoned my attempts to watch Loch Ness. The Scottish accents are too hard for me to understand. I've moved on to Digging for Britain, as archeology has always fascinated me.

I have been pondering on the Physics of life today 😮🤔😁....

Why do single drops of water , falling into a bucket ....sound so LOUD in the middle of the night !!🤣🤣🤣!!

In fact ...during the day as well !!

I have kept the radio on as loud as I can , so I can distract myself. 🤣!

Silkiefloof · 15/11/2023 00:13

Glad your internet is back MissC and lovely pictures.

Oh Bizzey Good luck with the roof, hope its not too expensive.

Hope your DD4 is getting better Math

Glad MRI is done Tillly

Getting much better now from the coviddy thing and went swimming and swam 107 lengths.

One of the lovely ladies on the cancer thread who went through treatment same time as me and has a 5 year old girl was given just a few days to live. Very sad and I need to put a ban on more dying.

Painters and decorators finished today but then it rained so they are coming back to redo again tomorrow. Well today now.

DS took a bath. DD went to school and then served dinners for the university college, she is working far too much but loves it.

MissConductUS · 15/11/2023 19:51

I'm glad you're feeling better, Silkie. Did you find out what was making you poorly? Your DD is a very hard worker. Mine is the same and works two jobs on campus and saves all of the wages. She's even started a private pension account. We cover her expenses.

I've identified the mystery bird in the photo. It's a Red-tailed Hawk. DH showed me an iPhone feature I wasn't aware of. When you look at a photo, there's a menu bar with a white background on the bottom of the screen. One of the menu choices is a letter i (for information) with a circle around it. Tap that, and it will identify animals and plants using artificial intelligence. I tried the same trick with the mysterious stone structure, and it came up with "landmark".

Apparently there was a mild earthquake a couple of hundred miles from here last night. We felt nothing.

Silkiefloof · 15/11/2023 23:58

I am not sure MissC though loads of people here seem to have similar symptoms, it's a cold / flu /covid like thing which seems to last one to two weeks. I started last Monday with it but it's much better now. Not completely gone but much better. Not been ill for ages and super careful so not sure where it came from but DH came back ill from France and was ill for 4 weeks or so, mainly ear related which I didn't have but also cold type thing.

DD has had mock interview today and also added a third university choice of Bristol. Still awaiting news of first two but both are super competitive and only take 5% each.

We had the fish and chips again, I had the Del Toro which was a burrito with fish, red cabbage, carrot, mango chutney, curry sauce and some chips. Was nice but messy and will probably revert to fish and chips. Picked up Amazon parcels.

Painters and decorators finished today and didn't rain so it's done now and 3 neighbours have asked them for quotes. It was also cheaper than we thought. I thought price was plus vat but apparently not.

bizzey · 16/11/2023 00:47

Silkie ...glad you are starting to feel a bit better.

DS has had " something" for the past 3 weeks as well.

Thought it was a head cold starting, he sounded like he had a head cold, but no cough or sneezing ...just complete exhaustion .

Said his eyes feel like they are bulging out of his eye sockets.

Has your DH's ears cleared up now ?

I still have a drip 🤣🤣!

Workmen coming on Friday.

No rain all day today though...so really don't know where the persistent drip is coming from ?

I am in rented accommodation so luckily all decisions and costs do not need my attention!

LL has been good and came out straight away last week when it happened.

I just don't know what is happening on Friday yet !

Are they coming in , is it outside work , what time, do we all need to be showered by 8am (🤣🤣🤣) in case we can't get into bathroom ...?????

So many questions...

I hate my space being invaded as it is ....not knowing exactly how it is going to be invaded is really pushing me to serious wine levels..to the edge 🤣.

bizzey · 16/11/2023 00:51

Silkie
I loved Bristol when other ds and I visited for his uni open day.

But when we visited his uni that he chose the following day ...I knew it was a better one for him ..

Are they easy to get to from your place ?

Silkiefloof · 16/11/2023 00:51

That's good it's just rented Bizzey well as long as they repair it properly. Hope it's not too intrusive.

DH still has a few issues with ears but much better than was. He's nervous about swimming again. Probably wise.

Silkiefloof · 16/11/2023 00:53

The three she has so far are fairly close, one is an hour away, another two, another three.

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 16/11/2023 01:09

Landmark 😂. Oh well, MissC, it tried!

That sounds quite scary for DH Bizzey. Perhaps the doctor should take his blood pressure?

So pleased for you that your kitchen is finally finished Silkie

Have many been affected by the earthquake Math?

I've been mainly tidying up today, unpacking parcels, making room. All done now, at last.

Tilllly · 16/11/2023 04:19

Nothing yet @MissConductUS
I'm hoping no news is good news

Tilllly · 16/11/2023 04:21

@MallardsMoorhensAndLethe I bet that feels good, to be all organised

mathanxiety · 16/11/2023 05:45

There was footage of a shaking juke box in a restaurant, Mallards. Other than that, I saw nothing on the news. The fault where the quake occurred is out in soy and corn country, where towns are small and few and far between.

Deathraystare · 16/11/2023 15:09

@Tilllly

Hilarious about your sister's hair! I used to bleach mine ready for the punky crazy colours that were around then. I then saw a blue/black mousse and thought Cool! I can have lime green hair! It turned out a very dull moss green. I forgot about it until my SIL reminded me about it!

@Silkiefloof

I hope by hot drink you mean a hot toddy. You know, hot honey and lemon (also whisky or Brandy if allowed!

My normal bus back to normal but the other bus I used to get during the diversions does not stop at the bus stop I change at due to a road up or something. This bus of course comes along all the time and I have a wait for the other one. There is always a road up somewhere!

The other annoyance at the moment is our NHS pens. As you can imagine these are not the best quality (scratchy buggers). However, the number of people that nick them from reception (we have a singing in /out book. They either chuck it back in the vague direction and it falls on the floor or nick them. They are not Mont Blanc for heaven's sake, just cheap pens but I have already replaced the darn things 3 times.

And before you suggest replacing it with one that fits in something stuck down, we tried that. Everything gets pulled and thrown around (Mental Health Unit). Our last signy out book was removed.....

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 16/11/2023 18:40

It does Tilllly I can't relax amongst chaos.

I'm glad the earthquake hasn't affected many people Math.

The most exciting thing I've done today is curate my YouTube "watch later" list 😁 I'm off to cook stuffed mushrooms with cauliflower rice now.

Tilllly · 16/11/2023 21:17

I got so much crap done today, lots of bits and pieces
I feel accomplished

bizzey · 16/11/2023 21:34

Landline out of service today 😭!

Luckily still have broadband as we we have a backup booster/rooter thing that kicks in if there is a problem..but I have had to make 3 phone calls today using my mobile which I hate .

It has made me realise...my little phone needs an upgrade 😭🤣🤣!

People speaking to me keep telling me they are loosing me ...even though I am in the same place and not moving !

I prefer using the land line as I can hear better from it ...and never get my voice echoing back what I have just said ..ha ha !

Having trouble getting hold of ds's medication which is having a nationwide shortage.

Need to get hold of consultant to see what he can be changed to that is available.

But ..but .
I won a little bit on the lottery last night 😁😁.

Not life changing unfortunately...but enough , that I will cash in and use towards a hairdresser visit next month .

I sometimes win an odd £2.40/£3.70 sort of thing that I leave in the lottery account to build up.

But this is definitely treat winnings 😂😂

Tilllly · 17/11/2023 00:49

Ooh well done @bizzey

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/11/2023 02:18

Bizzey, my landline hasn't worked since September. I don't know why. The tv on-screen call display still occasionally works, but the line is dead. 🤷‍♀️
Silkie, hope your dd gets into the uni she really wants. ☺️
Math, glad the quake wasn't serious.

Beautiful sunny and chilly day here today. Bundled up and took Havoc to farm today.
Cows, horses, chickens, ducks, rabbits, goats, sheep, the lot. Havoc laughed hysterically at the noises of the little goats.
(What is the sound goats make called??? I've forgotten.)

Tilllly · 17/11/2023 03:22

Bleat?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/11/2023 05:19

Tillly, hmmm. Since I am not in the mood to google I'll accept, Bleat. 👏👏👏

It's 9:15pm; got pyjamas on; have been to Costco and put groceries away; got Havoc ready for bed, but we're cuddled on the couch first with a little snack. (Panettone, blackberries, grapes, cheese). 😛

merrymelodies · 17/11/2023 05:51

@Mumtobabyhavoc the sound the goat makes is meh-eh-eh! 😉 We used to live next door to a goat keeper and wow, do those creatures stink!
