Arm isn't usually quite so thick - it's now extremely swollen.

I am B O R E D !!! Having a broken elbow and fractured ribs on opposite sides of the body is very limiting. I've been reading old books I enjoyed about 40 years ago but am not as enamoured of most of them as I was before. Am also beginning to plan another Christmas, although I won't actually do any shopping until the end of November. What are you all planning for the winter holidays/festivities?

@Mumtobabyhavoc the sound the goat makes is meh-eh-eh! 😉 We used to live next door to a goat keeper and wow, do those creatures stink!

Wow to that bruise! I'd use arnica gel on it-it brings the bruising down quickly., and it's gentler to apply than cream.

bizzey · 17/11/2023 10:21

@merrymelodies 😮😮😧!!

That bruise has surpassed ALL my expectations 😂😂!!

bizzey · 17/11/2023 10:34

Workmen are here putting up the scaffolding.

Outside at the moment , so I am coping !

Was reading another thread , about posters who hate having workmen in the house and someone mentioned about having the house nice and clean and tidy before they come.....
I really wish I hadn't cancelled my gardener for the end of year last sort out/tidy for the garden !

It's lovely in the summer ....all a bit overgrown now , with a big sweep up needed ....it looks a mess 😂!

But the weather hadn't really been on our side either .

bizzey · 17/11/2023 10:36

Should have been done end of October , but I used the " garden money " on a really good Christmas present deal instead 😂!

bizzey · 17/11/2023 10:37

I may be rabbiting all day with you all , in my twitchy anxiety state 😂!

bizzey · 17/11/2023 12:37

Boring update from me !! 😁

Some faux pax by me ...

They needed to switch off the water.

The mains water tap is in a false tiled box thing ...in the corner of the kitchen , that has a free standing unit thing in front of it.....

The only area of the kitchen that didn't get " Purdy and Figged " a few weeks ago 🤦🤦!!

Did the usual ..." Ohh no one sees that corner ...I have had enough now....I will do it another day when I am in the mood .."

Big ❌ !

I put the hot water on this morning for an hour.....then had to watch it all drain down the sink 😞🤦

Big ❌!

Then they wanted my hoover ..

Not fully charged
Big ❌!

Funniest one ...

The plastic bag I had put on the floor , under the towel and bowl to collect any stray splashes .....
must have had bleach on it or something....
as I now have a perfect bag outline ...lighter in colour ...than the rest of the carpet...😂😂😂..

Perfect bag shape !

Took me a while to click 😂😂😂😂...

Big funny ❌

bizzey · 17/11/2023 14:23

Guess who forgot to fill the kettle up before they switched the water off 🤦🤦🙇😞😁🤣 !!

DS has gone to the shop to get some bottles of water !!

bizzey · 17/11/2023 16:29

Ahhhh for flips sake 🙇😡😡!

They have gone .
No water .

I am no DIY except...but even I know that when water is reconnected..it shouldn't take that long for it to come out of the taps !!

Splutter...splutter...and then a flow .

Nada .zilch !

bizzey · 17/11/2023 16:33

They obviously dint check before they left...

On their way back now 😔!

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 17/11/2023 16:40

Jeez Merry 😱 that's some bruising.

Glad you both had fun at the farm Havoc. I love those places too.

Congrats on your winnings Bizzey.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/11/2023 19:36

Got a major task done today. Arranged home support for my mum while I'm in hosp for c-section as she needs some assistance which I typically do. Was quite pleasantly surprised to learn it will be free for 2x p/d for up to 6 weeks. LPN will start two weeks prior to me going into hospital to take pressure off me. 😅
Everything is falling into place. 😀
I have to say, in my mum's case, with all of her medical issues the healthcare has been quite good. 👍

bizzey · 17/11/2023 20:32

Ohh Havoc ..what a relief for you...
Now you can enjoy your last few weeks !

(How long to go ? ...cos is nosey !!)

merrymelodies · 17/11/2023 21:59

@Mumtobabyhavoc How exciting that baby is coming soonish 👀 (also curious as to when!) and glad for you that you've got care sorted for your mum. My mum and stepdad are not young and stepdad has dementia. They live in a 'senior residential community' but will have to move to assisted living quite soon, I think.

If you need anything, dm me. I'm in the same area and would be glad to help.

merrymelodies · 17/11/2023 22:01

Hope you got your tea at least, @bizzey 🫖

Deathraystare · 18/11/2023 14:56

Bloody he'll @bizzey . You need a holiday!

Good news @Mumtobabyhavoc re getting care for mum. I struggled for quite a while toileting and showering mum (her legs would collapse under her. (Bit of a worry while wiping her bum!). Then later after carers struggling to get her to bathroom I suggested she had blanket baths instead. I cannot actually remember how we washed her hair.

I have just cheered myself up watching how amazing Otters are. Mum wrapped her baby in kelp to keep it safe whilst she fed. Clever!

Not so cheery wS the mum hippo who, seeing a few lions took her calf to the where. She submerged, took her eye off the ball and a Croc took her baby.

Never mind, monkey world is on soon.

Sorry I know I should not whinge. Lots of you have real problems. I hope those of you unwell, really suffering will feel better really soon.

HelenaJustina · 18/11/2023 16:33

Went out to see ex-colleagues last night, had a brilliant time but despite only drinking to mugs of decaf tea, have felt vaguely hung-over and headachy all day. Off out to see another friend tonight as she’s having a tricky time.

Got a couple of Christmas presents this afternoon but still need to hoover the whole house, make dinner and organise Children’s Liturgy for 9am Mass tomorrow. Not a productive day yet

MissConductUS · 18/11/2023 18:28

Havoc, the last few weeks were the most uncomfortable for me. Fab that you have everything with your mum sorted. I had a doula come to the house for a few weeks after DD was born. She just helped with the baby and did a bit of tidying, but it was great to have some time to myself.

Helena, I've had the same headache feeling. In my case, I think it's either fall allergies from the leaves rotting or a virus.

Thanksgiving week is upon us. The warehouse club and the posh Italian supermarket were both really busy, despite my getting started at 9:00 AM. We set our clocks back last weekend, so I'm driving home in the dark now.

The black Friday sales have started, so I ordered myself a new laptop this morning from Dell. My current laptop is almost seven years old and a bit knackered. I got a very good price on the new one, and it should be here Wednesday.

I bought everything we need to take to my brother's house on Thanksgiving. Thank goodness they are hosting this year. We're doing appetizers, holiday mashed potatoes, and stuffing.

Things are quiet on the wedding front. DD has finalized what she wants for the save-the-date cards, which are on order. I found a dress I like, and have ordered it. It should be here by March, so there's plenty of time for the alterations.

I'd love a nap today, but I don't know if I'll have time. I have to make my Death by Chocolate Brownies to take to work this week for a potluck lunch.

Miss, I had a doula last time. She was the most helpful leading up to the birth, actually. She helped me get organized and after was a good bf'ing resource.

Turned out to be mostly sunny today. 🌤️
Didn't manage to get out: lots of laundry and then was online for family member's celebration of life (across country). Have now got Netflix on and watching Get Gotti, about the so-called Teflon Don of the 80's (mafia). Another load of laundry is on and Havoc is napping wearing Hallowe'en costume. 🥰
Planning on making crab & pesto pizza for dinner... I better get the dough mixed up!

Thanks everyone for the comments re my last post. You are a lovely virtual support system. 🩷

EmmaEmerald · 18/11/2023 22:49

Crab and pesto pizza sounds wonderful!

I am dully wondering how I get through so much shower gel. I mean....just how?!

MissConductUS · 18/11/2023 23:11

Welcome, @EmmaEmerald, and thanks for sharing your calming news. Could it be another family member using the gel? Whenever my daughter is home from uni my shower supplies disappear at an astonishing rate.

The men have started the fire to grill burgers. We're having them with some leftover macaroni and cheese, and I'm making coleslaw.

Thank you @MissConductUS

I live alone <ominous music>

Burgers....mac and cheese....fab!

I haven't had Kraft mac and cheese forever, but I'm going to guess you're making it properly! I love that stuff.

Silkiefloof · 19/11/2023 00:27

Welcome Emma

Well done Tillly and Mallards on organising things.

So glad you have support for your Mum Havoc

Have a lovely Thanksgiving MissC

Had a lovely black tie dinner tonight, classical concert at the Masters Lodge, then champagne, black tie dinner then drinks with professors. The Master said to us that DD has applied to my colleges twin, I had no idea, she said she was applying to Oxford to be different from me but did same subject and she appears to have chosen twin college. 😂She said she had mock interview and they asked her why studying that subject and she said to be like my Mum. 😍

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/11/2023 02:37

Pizza update: delicious!!!! I'm so happy it turned out!!! 😋😋😋

pesto, crab, sundried tomatoes, white onion, capers, anchovies, mixed cheese

Havoc is digging in!!!👍
