Ah Bizzey so sorry about the mess! Good you've got someone to come out on Monday.

Silkiefloof · 11/11/2023 22:18

Sorry Bizzey to see that. What are they putting in that Purdy and Figg stuff? 🤔

I am still covidy but gradually coming back to life. Had pancakes for dinner. DH had 2 friends round and went to a neighbours house then said he left saying he had to look after me and promptly went to sleep. 😂

DD was working in her river tours job. Managed to locate a globe and a Christmas pudding light but need to put light together.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. My normal waffling will resume shortly once covidy lurgy has gone.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/11/2023 22:50

Silkie, was at Italian grocery store yesterday and there were no less than 19 different panettone for sale. I also made pancakes for dinner (last night)! Made a sort of Bananas Foster to go over top: melt butter in pan, add brown sugar, once bubbling add sliced bananas. If not pregnant would also add a bit of spice rum to sauce. I usually made this sauce for bread pudding at Christmas, too. 😋😋
Hope you feel better soon. 💐

Bizzey, shocking about the ceiling! 🙀
Purrdy and Figg products look nice.

Shay and Sprouts, you sound like you've been quite productive today! 👏

Miss, our storm last night was apparently quite bad. About 170,000 lost power. We were lucky and I slept through it. Debris all over the roads today, though. Lots of tree branches and trees down.

Tilly, a book fair! How wonderfully calming. ☺️

Was at Remembrance Day ceremony today. Arrived at 10:45, so service was well under way. Weather was quite pleasant. Had a dense moment wondering why 2 minutes silence was at 11:00am and not 11:11am. Stupid me actually asked couple next to me. They were a bit dumb-founded. 😂😂😂 I later googled it and, well... 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
Of course it is at 11:00am.

It was Havoc's first time at a Remembrance Day ceremony and I was quite proud of Havoc's quiet behaviour.
Full dark clouds now with rain.
Have got white beans simmering and planning on a sort of Italian Wedding soup tomorrow; pasta with spinach, kale, mushrooms, cream, pecorino, prawns and scallops tonight.

Havoc ...I wouldn't worry about your 11.11am thing ...
I didn't even know Canada did the 11/11 anyhow 😮.

I have learnt so much from this thread !

I have always responded Remerance day .....but quite a few years ago (loads!) I did a WW1 tour /route .

France and Belgium.

Quite by accident ...came across my great uncles tombstone in France .

Quite an emotional moment..
Well the whole thing was ...I was an absolute mess by the time we got to the big cemetery (that has a famous name ...that for the life of me I can't remember right now ! )

I am ignoring the big ugly dark black spot on the hallway carpet for now ...and just enjoying my cuppa and chocolate biscuits!!

bizzey · 11/11/2023 23:04

Silkie ...are you COVID ....or feel covidy ?

Silkiefloof · 11/11/2023 23:08

I may be covid atm Bizzey though pancake by pancake I am returning to sugar. DD has just walked past and asked why for the Xmas pudding.

QuestionableMouse · 11/11/2023 23:16

I've been brave and actually used the IPL machine I bought ages ago. Sick of the nasty wiry chin hairs making my skin sore.

Been painting all day, and ripped up an old carpet. Have 3/4 of the walls done and a new carpet arriving next week! Will be lovely to see it finished 😊 but my legs are aching right now! Particularly the ankle I broke in the summer 😬

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/11/2023 23:21

Bizzey, had my fill of "choccy bikkies" driving home from Italian grocery yesterday! Enjoy yours! 😋
Silkie, could Floof be any cuter?!
(I meant 10 types of panettone, but there could've been 19...). 😂

Quite windy here now. I'm eating a thick slice of toast with an ungodly amount of various cheese melted on top. 😋😋😋😋

Tilllly · 12/11/2023 02:45

Oh @bizzey what a nightmare!!

Silkiefloof · 12/11/2023 06:46

Woke up at 6.30am to find 8kg Floof purring 1 inch from my nose. He then decided that DH and I could make ourselves useful and get his tuna. Eating it now. 😎

sueelleker · 12/11/2023 08:00

Silkiefloof; not being rude, but does Floof eat anything but tuna? It seems to be all you mention

HildaTablet · 12/11/2023 08:07

My sympathies bizzey. We’ve had a partial ceiling collapse too and it’s not a nice experience. The old plaster ‘snibs' can give way between the laths (you must live in a reasonably old house to still have lath and plaster ceilings?) and as it vibrates with people walking about on the floor above it gradually detaches - eventually the weight of it causes a collapse. It’s very lucky nobody was underneath at the time. I hope you can get someone to do a proper patch-fix quickly.

We went out to our local village firework get-together yesterday. The show was spectacular but it was so cold. Despite being muffled up to the eyeballs and drinking hot soup, we scurried home quite quickly as our teeth were almost literally chattering after a while.

Silkiefloof · 12/11/2023 12:47

Glad you had a good fireworks Hilda

Sue Floof has a tin of Applaws tuna first thing in morning, rest of time it's Royal Canin Maine Coon biscuits but it's the tuna he's crazy for. I have seen some people say the Royal Canin isn't good but seems to be a 50/50 split on those who use it and those who go to raw meat. Floof does eat a bit of meat but changing foods isn't good for his stomach so have to be careful. I am sure Floof would love a raw meat diet, DD is veggie and not so much. We only have a tiny freezer, not sure how it works and deliveries here are often damaged. We normally go to Pets at Home to collect.

Silkiefloof · 12/11/2023 15:19

Just had a lovely Sunday roast with roast pork, Yorkshire, apple sauce, gravy, roast potatoes, cabbage and carrots.

Floof is a very trilly boy with all the Christmas decorations cat toys

bizzey · 12/11/2023 16:10

We had a very lazy lunch/dinner today !

Tortellini and a quick sauce I made using a carton or pommedoro stuff.

Quick , simple ....and filled a hole !

Having a TV break now ....then back to cleaning the carpet upstairs 😭!

MissConductUS · 12/11/2023 16:27

Our internet service was restored overnight, and I see I've missed at lot on the thread.

bizzey, so sorry about the mess. I think I'll stay away from posh cleaning products after seeing what they did in your house.

Fab Floof pics Silkie. Some dry food is okay for cats as long as it's grain-free and has a high meat content. We feed wet food twice a day and leave dry food out for them to nibble on as they want. Both are from a high quality brand called Wellness, but I'm unsure if it's distributed in the UK. The recommendation came from our vet, and we buy it on Amazon or Chewy.com.

I've been looking for mother of the bride dresses without much luck. I went to two posh department stores yesterday and didn't see anything I was completely sold on. I tried a few dresses on and realized that they're all winter weight, and if we have a warm day next June they will be much too heavy. I may have to look for a dressmaker to sew something for me.

I went walking this morning just in time to see this lovely sunrise.

Tilllly sending good wishes to you for your treatment.

MissC glad the fire was contained and your internet and power are back.

Silkies hope you recover soon and that your blood work comes back with good results.

bizzey glad nobody was hurt when your ceiling fell down Shock. Hope it didn't leave mold as well as dust in the carpet.

The trees look glorious here, though some have shed all of their leaves. I passed a few families out raking leaves into huge piles. We're slouching toward winter, but next week's weather is going to be mild and nice.

All my deck plants are now in their final positions indoors for the winter, apart from the shifting that will have to happen when I put up the Christmas tree about a week before Christmas. I made room for a large geranium someone threw to the curb that had a few healthy looking green leaves and a lot of leaves that had been shriveled by frost. I'm hoping I can revive it in my sunny bay window.

The heat has been on here for a few weeks. DD4 has been coughing like someone who smoked 40 cigarettes a day for the last sixty years for a month now after getting a horrible bug that initially wiped her out for a week. She had a negative covid test, but it has crossed my mind that the test she took was faulty. I have avoided it, whatever it was.

bizzey · 13/11/2023 11:15

It a roof job 😭😭😭!!

I feel I need to adopt Floof to keep me company during the work and to keep an eye on the workmen 🤣🤣🤣!

bizzey · 13/11/2023 14:22

It's a horrible feeling having to have work done when it is a fix /repair job, as opposed to renovations to make something look nicer or be more functional.

There is no excitement for the end product 🤣🤣!

Though getting rid of the plastic bag, towel and basin from outside the bathroom door will be nice I suppose 🤣

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 13/11/2023 15:07

I hope you aren't allergic to the new detergent Shay.

That river is so beautiful Sprouts.

Goodness Bizzey I'm glad you weren't under it at the time.

Glad your power is back on MissC. Walking at dawn is a fabulous way to start the day. I haven't done it for years. Love the sunrise pic.

This afternoon will be spent going through some boxes stored under a table to see what's in there.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 13/11/2023 16:02

Had a chat with new temp contract re my IT kit arriving and my start date.

Had 2 more calls, one about a permanent interview tomorrow.

Parcelled up and walked to post office to send eBay parcels.

It’s windy here. DCat in but wants to go out but will then be spooked if more fireworks.

Tilllly · 13/11/2023 19:30

MRI done

Now for dinner and bath
