Bizzey, re your phone: how often do you turn it off? Doing so resets it and it should work more efficiently as does closing resting apps/pages.

bizzey · 08/11/2023 01:42

Ohhh you mean completely shut down , shut off ...power off sort of thing 🤔🤔🤔....🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔...

Yep....hardly ever 😕😕..

Going to do it now
Thanks ..

HelenaJustina · 08/11/2023 06:41

Barely time to breathe this week with lots on at work and home. Including two 6th form open evenings - can’t believe we are at that stage already.

Silkiefloof · 08/11/2023 12:28

Glad your appointment went well Havoc I was a similar size to you when pregnant Havoc I did put weight on in pregnancy but lost it both times very quickly after. I think 4 to 6 is roughly 8 here (well it was 15 years ago, I was an 8 in UK but a 4 in zara though now the sizing may be closer so could be 6). UK sizing is all over the place and there has been size inflation over the years and it varies a lot between brands and even between items. I have to take measurements now and check each item. There's a lot of vanity sizing and things imported cheaply with poor sizing control.

I have more French onion soup with French bread and toasted cheese for lunch. I feel unwell still but ideally need to go to hospital for bloods. Too rainy for painters today. Bin has been collected. DD gone to school. DH is very busy at work, working really long hours. Floof is slightly unimpressed with the staffing situation, painters not turned up for him, DH is flat out working, I am ill and DD is at school. I am giving Floof compliments though which he is loving.

Aethelberht · 08/11/2023 14:22

I got a new shortwave radio from Amazon yesterday. Pretty sure one of the stations I listened to was from Palestine. Very exciting, if hard to hear.

bizzey · 08/11/2023 15:54

Going good guns here sorting out the dumping bed !

I think it just looked worse than what it was !

Mind you ...ds's laundry bag is now very full 🤦! 😂

Was toying with the idea of sorting out all the stuff in the drawer area under the bed ....and decided...NOOO !

Will use @sueelleker idea of using the vacuum bags that I have got and always forget to use ...and condense the pillows that are not really needed.

MissConductUS · 08/11/2023 16:14

@Aethelberht, my father, brother and nephews are all very into shortwave radio. My father had quite the rig, with a huge antenna in the back yard. I never quite saw the point of it. I also don't watch professional sports, so perhaps I'm just an old fuddy duddy.

It's quite cold and windy here. Our landscaper is booked to blow the leaves off the property today. He'll have to come back to do it one last time after Thanksgiving.

I saw the heron in an unusual spot this morning. I've perfected a new technique to get pictures of him in flight. I get my phone ready to take the picture on maximum zoom and then slowly approach him. When he flies off I'm ready to take the picture.

I feel like listening to radio and reading books, which I like to do, are fuddy duddy. But yes SW is a radio type that requires more effort. If I can't be bothered I go to FM.

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 08/11/2023 18:04

I reorganised the bedroom today. It was looking crowded. Moved some things into the living room and it's looking a lot better now.

Bizzey I hope the phone works better now.

It's great you have the venue sorted now MissC.

I like books and music Aethelberht, not so into talk shows on the radio and I don't speak any other languages so foreign stations would be a bit pointless for me.

Glad you're doing ok with the pregnancy Havoc.

Kitchen is coming along nicely there Silkie

DancesWithDucks · 08/11/2023 19:53

Oh goodness, cracked elbow sounds extremely uncomfortable.

Those heron pictures are gorgeous @MissConductUS To catch it in flight like that is a bit of a gem.

Delightfully slow start to the day but then got very busy. Physiotherapist has said I need to cycle more, so I'm trying, managed 16km today. . Luckily it's getting nice and cool now so I don't overheat and the trees are so beautiful at the moment.

bizzey · 08/11/2023 20:39

Happy with all my sort out today !

I have had to stop now as my music that was blasting out of Alexa was not what DS wanted to hear !!😁

But he has the 2nd paper for his GCSE tomorrow...so at the moment...whatever he wants he gets !!! 😁

These English papers are so silly ...
What does the author infer ...

Flips sake ..ASD people don't infer anything!!

It either is ...or ...it isn't !

Sorry 😁😂!

Test them on the the correct grammar ...then they will know right from wrong !

What does the author mean by this sentence...is just too much !!

Sorry ...in a grump 😂😂.

bizzey · 08/11/2023 20:41

We are not holding out much hope for a GCSE English!

bizzey · 08/11/2023 20:51

Just reread my post !

Gosh I was grumpy 😧.
Hope I didn't offend anyone x

Silkiefloof · 09/11/2023 02:05

Good luck for GCSE English Bizzey Completely get the non asd phrasing issue, DS would struggle with questions like why do you think this happened when they meant why did the author think. Though sats we got lucky, was all on pandas at a time DS had about 30 of them. 😎

Feeling quite rough still at the moment, first time in over a year ill but struggling. Kitchen was finished before, the painters are doing outside of house but they are close to finishing weather permitting. I need to get bloods at hospital but not well enough to go today, hopefully tomorrow.

Had fish and chips, Asian slaw and curry sauce, lovely and could taste with cold but calorific. DH also had mushy peas. DS loves fish and chips. DH is working really long hours. I am on flu tablets every 4 hours in day and mainly in bed but did manage to make a sack to throw out each day and put some Christmas lights up today, very early and DH was 🤔 but Floof was so happy DH converted and has been filming Floof who has been non stop trilling and trying to knock the robin decorations off. Painters did full day today, one out of two tomorrow.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/11/2023 02:21

Silkie, sorry to hear you're not feeling better yet. 😔 I'm with you re Christmas decorations! 😀 I aim to get lights and tree up for Dec 1, but planning on getting it all done at least a week earlier this year. ☺️

Had left-over roast chicken, wild and brown rice which I added frozen mixed veg to and then made a quick gravy with the stock I made yesterday. It was a perfect meal for a chilly evening. It's raining lightly and about 9c. Havoc and I were at the park prior, so I was ready for comfort food when we got home. 😋

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/11/2023 15:24

ugh...been awake since 4:45; it's now 7:20.
5c here, so have put the heat on and am going to try and sleep for a bit. 😴

Deathraystare · 09/11/2023 17:48

Woo @MissConductUS loving that picture!

Was actually in an ok mood this afternoon coming into work but of course, that is before I got on a bus! First bus I get is ok. I get off at the stop to change buses and had already noted that the single storey is coming around with the double decker (do we still call them that?) is behind it. The smaller bus is on diversion and goes down the road where I work BUT you have to ask if they are stopping there as well as press the button (which I do anyway). First time it was doing this diversion route I thought as it was going past my work place, and I pressed the button, that was all I needed to do. Nope. It ignored the next two stops.

Well, anyway I got on the double decker behind the single decker which clearly stated the number of the bus and it's destination. I went another way! Ok , I presumed it was on diversion as well, though there was nothing to say it was and no announcement and I was the only one with a stupid look on my face so can only assume other passengers had prior knowledge or were up for a mystery ride!

I had to walk back to get another bus and in the meantime missed a small and bigger bus (the one I wanted) which were going the right way!

It is annoying enough that due to sewage works or whatever, another bus that I usually get has been on diversion since September. Constant updates but now not ready until December. Hmmm I wonder....

Hope you feel better soon @Silkiefloof. I was lucky to be introduced to my Brother's family cat who is lovely, but why do cats appear to have heavy boots on when they walk from lap to lap across the settee?

I am at the moment drinking a cuppa soup. I wish once you stirred them you didn't get all the flavour at the end so you have been drinking slightly flavoured water until the end! Then you get a congealed salty blob!

Luckily that is all I have to whine about.

Silkiefloof · 09/11/2023 21:18

Lovely food Havoc and thanks Death

Still feeling rough but managed to get bloods done at hospital. Painters did another day on outside of house, looks very close to being finished. Came home and lost all smell and taste and itching with rash, beginning to wonder if it's covid, argh. Though a little better than yesterday. Thankfully no appointments until next Thursday.

Had fajitas for dinner not that I could taste them. Floof did not want me to go out and he lay over my pumps to try and stop me.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/11/2023 02:16

Awww Death, that commute to work sounds brutal. I took the bus then connected to the train for far too many years. It just sucks the life out of you some days. I also did a one hour drive to one work location for a few years and the day I recognized some of the same cars on my route was the day I decided I was insane to keep doing it! 🤦‍♀️
Silkie, I hope it's not covid, but regardless, feel better soon. 💐

Afternoon out with Havoc started with a burger at a drive-in for me after Havoc fell asleep in the car on the way to the park. 😂
Havoc woke up when the tray arrived and said, Oh! Num num mummy. Guess who ended up with French fries as a treat? 🤷‍♀️
Headed to park after just as the wind and rain started. Oh, well. That's Vancouver for you. We wandered around for just over a half hour then home. Now counting down to an early bedtime to make up for my insomnia last night. I could happily go to bed now, though.
😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴

bizzey · 06/11/2023 23:28

Ohhh ouch @merrymelodies 😮!

I bet that is going to turn into a wonderful display of colours over the coming week !(😁😁)

We need an update of how many beautiful shades of purples and blues it will go !

My soul sister!

Tilllly · 10/11/2023 08:07

I got my treatment plan from oncology yesterday, chemo and radio and lots of lovely side effects
So was in a grump yesterday tho savouring the wine I won't be drinking for much longer

Today is hairdressers, dentist and this evening, a colleague's leaving do

Deathraystare · 10/11/2023 09:54

@Tilllly * *Enjoy getting your hair done and colleague's leaving do. Had to dye my hair myself this time around. Thankfully there are no colourful streaks around the bathroom and my bedroom! That's a first. Never sure if it colours correctly aroud the back but it was the front and sides that needed de-greying!

@Mumtobabyhavoc

Of course the bus problem continued that very evening on the way home. Thank goodness the programme I watch (Married at First Sight UK - don't judge me!!) can also be seen on E4 +1 an hour later so I did not miss it. This time the bus decided to stop at the bus station and stay there! I had two more quite long stops to go. There was already another bus with an out of service sign on it and another one (different number) was also out of service. I slowly made my way to the next stop and asked if any buses have been past. They said yes but it was weird there were loads of buses going the other way. Another bus out of service went by. I was beginning to have my doubts especially as the indicator kept changing what bus was actually coming! Eventually one came along and was crowded but I managed to get on alright but had to squeeze myself off.

Still, this is the shortest commute I do now. When I think I used to get up really early for a coach ride into London, then a tube. Knackering!!

@Silkiefloof * * That does maybe sound like Covid though of course I am no expert. I did wonder a few weeks back whether I had it or was getting a cold. I rarely get colds and if I do it is a one day wonder! I had bought in loads of lemons to have a honey and lemon drink and not even made one! Hope all is well soon and you can enjoy your newly decorated home that Floof has been supervising for you!

Tilllly · 10/11/2023 11:44

@Deathraystare
Could be worse

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 27: Calmly through the day
Silkiefloof · 10/11/2023 11:57

Thanks Havoc Hope you got some sleep.

So sorry to hear you have to have chemo Tilllly I had the Pax last year 12 weeklies. Then radio but just for breast so that bit was easy. Hope it kicks your cancer but not rest of you.

Thanks Death Enjoy your TV.

Painters and decorators in today and it's fun time with Floof. He was also hyper around 3.30am. They have painted front door so that's open a bit and also 3 windows at top of house are open. He's not trying to get out but is trying to stick his nose in the paint everywhere. DD is back at 12 and hoping she will help with this though she will likely just go to sleep.

I have chest pain with this cold but has eased now with hot drink. Think we are having jackets for lunch. Have restated Tamoxifen. Diet has gone out the window with not being well enough to exercise and feeling rough but never mind.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/11/2023 18:56

Tillly, sending you strength for your upcoming treatment. 🩷
Silkie, seems like a light at the end of the tunnel for painting, etc? Keep resting, staying hydrated and eating what you can. 💐

managed a decent sleep from about 10:30pm-5:30am waking up for a bit at 1:30am. Awake from 5:30-7 then slept another hour. Still rainy and windy here but heading out for an errand of sorts, recognizance mission really, and will take Havoc along to play in the park when done. Will be dressing in layers and wellies!
