My MIL also invited about 160 people to our wedding from her side but at least she paid for them, she only has one sister and FIL was an only child so these people were very distant relations, I think she had just been waiting for a granddaughter since DH was born and got carried away. Yes the don't order anything for me is a bit annoying but at least it happens every time so can plan for it and I prefer sharing so can try more dishes.

We had an Indian takeaway today and no prizes for guessing who said don't order anything for me I will just take some of everyone else's. I chose something different but after DH said well chosen, it said lamb marinated in yoghurt and spices and cooked in clay oven but I could not see any yoghurt but tasted nice. Had some onion bhaji and peshwari naan and DD had veg korma and DS had chicken korma and peshwari naan.

Feeling like I have a cold coming, first time felt ill in over a year. Drinking a lot.

vernatheraven Good luck getting hold of a GP, sometimes the private insurance has their own who can refer, at least Vitality did but only 3 times a year could use.

Oh Merry your poor arm, that looks painful.

Glad Havoc enjoyed gymnastics.

I have just cleared another sack of clothes from the cupboard. Floof always jumps up as soon as I start and this time he jumped up and put his top paws as high as he could so was standing and then his back paws started slipping and it looked like a cartoon scene but managed to save himself. Then he kept trying to paw me.

Sorry your DS left it messy Iwandered We have one like that. DH is also oblivious a lot though when it's really clean and tidy DH likes that and improves. We are down to just 1 small room of DH assorted junk. Though am sure we will get spread soon.

MissConductUS · 07/11/2023 00:05

Merry, she has ordered a really lovely dress from a bridal shop in her university town, and they assure her it will be here in time for the fittings. I'm not so sure, so it's one more thing on list of wedding worries. We thought the shop up there made more sense than buying it near us, as it would be easy for her to get to the fittings, and prices in Massachusettes are probably lower than what we'd pay for the same dress in New York.

Silkie, did you feel a bit overwhelmed by having so many people from DH's family that you didn't know? About how many of the 160 turned up?

I had my annual whole body skin check with the dermatologist this morning. She found one spot she didn't like the look of, so she cut it out and sent it off to the pathology lab. It's on my forehead, so it's not a great look and another thing to worry about. She said the lab work would take no more than a week and probably less, so at least I won't be wondering about it for long.

There were about 160 from her side there, I didn't mind that, the only thing I didn't like was being photographed every 5 seconds but that was MIL and her sister. Her sister is totally obsessed with taking photos and what she calls natural ones so she springs up on people.

Silkiefloof · 07/11/2023 00:17

I don't know how many she invited, I had impression it was high acceptance rate probably as free meal and unlimited champagne. 😂

bizzey · 07/11/2023 00:33

Silkie ..was your wedding in France ?

bizzey · 07/11/2023 01:03

My " Luna " wave of energy waned over the weekend .
It came back a bit today as it is bins tonight and I knew I could clear stuff and get rid of the bags in one go !

But working DS has just given me a spur on ......

He has just told me he is going away on holiday for 4 days ...

Sooooo....

I can sort out the spare bed in his room that has become yet another dumping ground ...and not have to work around his work schedules!

I say dumping ground....it isn't really
it is ! but more a place I put things that are needed ...but don't have a proper home as they are so big !

Our winter hoodies , heated blankets and those sort of things .

I just don't know how/where to store them ?

Soooo ...

Watch this space ....I am going into full Luna mode in a few days 🤣🤣🤣🚀🧑‍🚀🌕🌕🌝!

bizzey · 07/11/2023 01:04

I may need motivation and nagging though if anyone is interested and up for it 🤣🤣!

Silkiefloof · 07/11/2023 01:22

We had 1 wedding day in England and 1 wedding day in France Bizzey The church weddings in France aren't recognised by the state so you need registry office too.

ForfarBridie · 07/11/2023 03:02

We’ve had quite a few variations on a wedding with my lot ranging from 20 people in the sitting room to 400 women in a hotel ballroom and quite a few hundred men at the Mosque, then the next night 200 people at home in the garden.

Then there was another hotel wedding that was held in the gardens of the hotel and I realized I’d seen quite a few guest I didn’t recognize only to be told by one of my children - they’re hotel guests mum, they were out for a walk after dinner and stopped to ask what was going on so I invited them in. Not many of them stayed long though, they had a look round, tried some of the food then congratulated the bride and groom before having selfies taken with them.

We still laugh about it all and of course my son who invited them in did exactly the right thing by inviting them in given the traditions here but it was very confusing at first. Mind you I think they were probably more confused than us by the site of the the men either dressed in their ceremonial kilt out if it’s and the rest in full ceremonial Arab dress.

ForfarBridie · 07/11/2023 03:03

Oh, and at my wedding? There were 8 of us.

sueelleker · 07/11/2023 08:57

bizzey; can you put the big stuff in vacuum storage bags and keep them under beds or on top of wardrobes?

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 07/11/2023 11:16

That looks painful Merry.

Those heron pics are fantastic MissC.

I'd ignore the MH issues Wandered they're not relevant. A currently healthy person doesn't fall apart because they were criticised for something they did wrong. Nor so most mentally unwell people, for that matter. Tiptoeing round like this isn't necessary to prevent a relapse. Tell him he was out of order, expect an apology and for him to mend his ways. You're doing him a favour, that doesn't give him the right to take advantage just because he previously had MH issues. He should be grateful and doing everything he can to not make a nuisence of himself, not kicking back and reverting to disrespectful teenager mode.

Sun is out and I'm doing endless laundry.

sproutsandparsnips · 07/11/2023 14:41

Mallards I have hung out bedding in glorious sunshine and now it's raining Envy
I am going to leave it though as I can see it's just showers......

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 07/11/2023 17:54

Oh no, Sprouts. I hope it dried eventually. I accidentally left mine out too long and it went a bit damp again from the air. I am an idiot. I've got the heating on now to finish it off.

TodaysTheShay · 07/11/2023 19:46

Hooray! I've found you all again....I lost the thread when the new one started. Nothing exciting has happened here other than I've caved in and put the heating on the daily timer. Hope you are all warm and well?

MissConductUS · 07/11/2023 20:17

Welcome back, @TodaysTheShay, I'm glad you found us again. The heating is on here, but most of the time we only need it at night.

No heron sightings today, unfortunately. In dull wedding news, DH signed the contract for the venue and wired them the deposit. Checks have gone out to the DJ and transportation company. I suspect DH is starting to feel a bit like a cash point.

Good the wedding planning is progressing MissC

Second day of feeling unwell but hoping a cold is about to start.

Painters and decorators could work again today, not sure how many days they have left. They originally said 15 days and have done 10 days but looks fairly close to the end. DH thinks just one more day but think it will be more than that as they do multiple coats but do seem to have moved from the back to the sides to the front and looks like at first coat everywhere and second coat in quite a lot. Floof will miss them.

Just had French onion soup with French bread and toasted cheese on.

Just had a concert and black tie dinner confirmed at the university college again for DH and I for 18th.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/11/2023 22:21

Silkie, hope it's just a cold. French onion soup sound sounds good. 😋
Mallards, I've got laundry on hangers on the shower curtain rod in the bathroom almost every day. Far too damp and chilly here now to use drying rack outdoors.

OBGYN appt was this morning. Everything ok despite me not gaining weight. (8lbs gain at 31weeks) I think it will be like it was with Havoc. Was 15lbs lighter three weeks after giving birth. Yes, you read that right.... I literally only gained baby/placenta/water weight. Once I shed the water I was so skinny. 🤷‍♀️Anyone else experience this?

Havoc woke me up this morning singing, Wheels on the bus; I love you, I love you.🥰
Tell me this will never change. 🩷

Sunny, cool and very windy here today.

bizzey · 08/11/2023 00:48

Havoc ...I was exactly the same with my pregnancies !!
Literally all my extra weight was baby ...and boobies which was a novelty as I am very small in that area 🤣🤣!

I had 3 dc's within 3 years and never gained weight.

I think I gained more weight when I lived in Italy and found out that there was a cake shop around the corner 🤣🤣!

I had never tasted anything like it before and would buy big family/gifting trays of little patisseries to gorge on to combat my homesickness 🤣🤣

bizzey · 08/11/2023 01:02

(sorry ...phone is playing up !)

Are you a petit person naturally ?

I had to do a quick conversion on the lbs .

In total I put on 20Lbs...I think.

1 and a half stone ?

But that was with my first .

I was never weighed with the others .
And I think I only knew that cos I weighed my self at mam's house !

Didn't own a weighing scale !

I was back into my own clothes 2 weeks later .

Though to be fair ...jeans did feel a bit tight in the hips , but that maybe was because the pelvis has gone back to normal ?

bizzey · 08/11/2023 01:22

I have had to have my heating on today way more than the outside temperature needed due to D's needing his washing dried ....urgently !

His plans went a bit awry today ...aka ...did not get up early enough !

He put his wash on, then I had to split it into 2 loads for the tumble dryer and needed the radiators for the t shirts that can go in the tumble dryer !

Tumble dryer is in my room with very strict rules of it's usage 🤣.!

I did 2x 1 hour drys .

He kept asking me ...."is it done yet ?" !!

Nooo....it will be done when the tumble dryer stops !!

Still ...all done and he has gone !

They have booked a very early flight from the budget flight airport 2 hours away .

They were meeting up for a drink and food and are getting the late /night coach to get there in time .

First time he has gone " abroad " ** without me or his dad !

3 times I made him physically show me he had his passport in his bag 🤣🤣🤣...

*Ireland doesn't really count as abroad...but he is getting on a plane and needs a different currency while over there !!

In fact ...the journey to the airport is longer than the flight 🤣 !

At least this is a gentle introduction for me before he heads off for a proper "lads" holiday to Spain or somewhere !!

bizzey · 08/11/2023 01:28

Ohhh ....I think my phone is starting to play up 😭...

Sometimes it will bring up the keyboard for me to type and then it won't ...

Then I have to come out and go back in again !

I didn't edit above post .
I wanted to edit it to cant go in the tumble dryer ..but it would let me type.

It's like every 2nd attempt ...I can type ...

Would that be my phone or MN ?

bizzey · 08/11/2023 01:30

Yeah ...I had to come out , click back into my watch list and now I can type 😞.

bizzey · 08/11/2023 01:30

Oh no !
I am testing testing!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/11/2023 01:35

Bizzey, yes, as last pregnancy, no need for larger clothes. I'm not "petite", but athletic build, size small here/4-6, unsure of UK conversion (maybe6-8?). I don't have a scale either; have always just weighed about monthly at the gym. My cheekbones have become more prominent, so I knew I was losing actual weight like last time. Lost a lot of muscle. Pregnancy sure takes a lot out of me!
It's a double-edged sword: quicker recovery, but less energy and difficulty breast-feeding. 😔
