Lack of other options Miss! Got to keep going when no alternative…

Been to Mass this morning, 2 loads of laundry on the line and have taken over from DH at swim gala, only another 2-3hrs to go. I could honestly have a nap despite the noise and mayhem if there was anywhere to lie down.

Silkiefloof · 29/10/2023 12:41

Clocks back here, heavy rain atm, definitely feels like winter is approaching. Church bells are ringing.

Watched whole of Get Gotti and have found 1 sack of things more to throw out, didn't take too long and Floof was so happy to go in the clothes cupboard and was eyeing up the sliding roof hatch to loft which someone has left undone. I hope he doesn't go up there, it's just all dusty and thatched roof, it had the old water tank in. He looked about to jump then was distracted by the duvet cover pile full of fleece duvet covers. I was woken by Floof on my bed this morning desperate for a cuddle at 7.30am.

Sunday roast, beef, is in the oven. Floof will be a happy boy. Will go swimming later. DD has to do form for LSE, she has only applied for Oxford and LSE at this stage. Though may add Bristol soon.

DS has eaten all on the vanilla funfetti cake made for 10 in 36 hours apart from 1 piece for DD, 1 piece for DH and 1.5 pieces for me. Its impressive. We do have 5 brownie pieces left though doubt they have a long life expectancy.

MissConductUS · 29/10/2023 17:16

Helena, I hope you get some rest soon. You certainly deserve it.

Silkie, I hope Floof doesn't escape into the loft. Perhaps close that door so he's not tempted. Is he an indoor-only cat, or do you let him out at all? Ours are indoor only, given the coyotes in the area. MN seems to regard this as barbaric cruelty to cats.

Yesterday was an oddly nice day. It was sunny and 26C, the first non-rainy Saturday in ages. Today, we're back to colder and rainy.

DS and DH have decided to rehearse Thanksgiving and are making a roast chicken, holiday mashed potatoes, and peas and carrots. I may make chocolate chip cookies if time allows.

Slightly worried about this new cleaning product I bought ....

I have not stopped since this morning! 😁😁

I keep doing other areas and stuff.

I think I am addicted to it !

The smell is amazing .

bizzey · 29/10/2023 21:19

Obvs ...had the sarcastic comments from the boys ...well just one actually!

The other one is oblivious to anything regarding life in this house
🤣🤣!

Silkiefloof · 29/10/2023 22:45

A rehearsal Thanksgiving dinner sounds wonderful MissC Yes Floof is an indoor cat, its recommended or catio (though can't see how catio is much different and he's like the size of a catio or enclosed garden but difficult to cat proof for him and we are in a conservation area). Yes it gets very funny on MN about indoor cats and pedigree cats. Though rabbits were the worst. 😱Chickens are fine. Rabbits apparently need half your house and all your garden and get rid of your children. 😂Yes I saw indoor cat owners say their cat is happy but they are just fooling themselves. So untrue with Floof you get all day commentary on how he is feeling and its always trills and purrs, only time we get a whimper is when one person leaves house as he acts like 3 people in house is home alone. He is an incredibly stupid cat, he understands around one or two words, tuna and tail and when he plays kill he spends 10 mins wiggling his bum and repositioning himself. He trusts everyone and the times he's got in the garden he just sits there with a blank expression looking very confused and he comes back in one second when you call him.

We had a Sunday roast with beef. DS has finished both cakes now. We went swimming which was nice. Put special collection out. DD doing LSE application. Floof was sitting in a cardboard box when we left.

Silkiefloof · 29/10/2023 22:47

Hope all is Ok @Lemonsandlemonade how are things?

DancesWithDucks · 30/10/2023 09:09

So did the EU ones and I am so glad it was a Sunday and I didn't miss taking the Mischief to school an hour late!

Floof sounds such a wonderful cat. We have one who was a stray and can't get over the trauma of not having enough food, so it's a constant battle to stop her becoming as round as a butterball. We have a lovely little rolling ball that drops food out every so often that she plays with, for her mealtimes, but it's gone missing. Can't imagine where it's gone.

Tilllly · 30/10/2023 19:23

I had some carrots about to give up

So I bought more. Coriander. Butternut squash. Spinach

Made a humongous vat of soup

Silkiefloof · 30/10/2023 19:32

Thanks Ducks Floof also wanted to eat everything in sight the first year but has calmed down since and also got more playful. What type of cat do you have?

Special collection has been collected a week late due to store raid closing street but we got all the bags done and out. Painters and decorators managed whole day as weather was good. Kitchen guys said they can come tomorrow and fit extractor and make unit for it for 700 plus vat. I think we are being robbed there but desperate to get it finished so agreed. Then they said will be there in afternoon and will also do boiler service. Hopefully that will be all finished then. Then I called ESA as was supposed to be a review but apparently they will pay me to Nov 25 with no review now. Which is great as I am still awaiting reconstruction op and still meetings for DS. 1 hour before they answered.

DH has 2 ear infections and got antibiotics and they took a swab. He has been super busy with work. Just getting a Chinese meal.

Silkiefloof · 30/10/2023 19:33

Enjoy your soup Tillly

DancesWithDucks · 31/10/2023 13:05

Thanks Ducks Floof also wanted to eat everything in sight the first year but has calmed down since and also got more playful. What type of cat do you have?

She is half european shorthair and half a rather swish breed, I forget the name, we think. The stealing food isn't funny though; she has been known to steal the cheese out of our son's sandwich as he's lifting it to his mouth. A cat behaviourologist helped but the trauma runs deep, poor thing.

Talking of said son, lines you never imagine you would say: "Mischief, eat your Bloody Brains or I'm throwing them away". Strange names the Halloween treats have !

@MissConductUS congratulations on the wedding venue booking! which one did you plump for?

bizzey · 31/10/2023 13:14

Silkie how annoying to have to pay out more money when you are soo close to the finishing line !!

My new unit is due to be delivered this afternoon..eek !

I put all the games and things that are going in it back into the sitting room ,so I have a blank canvas to work from in reorganising everything.

Was going to cook a stew ....but I forgot to take the meet out of the freezer 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️!

I could defrost in the microwave...but that means my very easy , chuck in a big saucepan type if meal means extra work 🤣!

It is out now ,so I will do it tomorrow.

Think it will be a takeaway tonight instead as I don't want to loose my momentum on getting the hallway and sitting room sorted .
(Any excuse hey !! 🤣)

Silkiefloof · 31/10/2023 13:51

Our rabbit used to try to do that Ducks don't think he'd had trauma just a rabbit who thought human food looked better than his food. He'd go for a cuddle with DS then take a swipe.

At least they are here doing the kitchen Bizzey Originally DH had told them we would keep extractor fan, not sure why as old one was likely 20 years old but one they've bought the fan will only be £125ish. So £700 plus vat, hmmm. They are making a tiny bit of unit but that was part of original deal apart from adjusting it.

Painters and decorators and kitchen guys here atm. Floof is overwhelmed. He has paint on his face from yesterday, we aren't quite sure how as they are outdoor painters and he's an inside cat but reckon he's tried to stick his nose in their painting whilst windows very slightly open. Now how to get gloss paint off a cat's ear. 🤔

bizzey · 31/10/2023 14:15

Silkie...🤣🤣🤣
Floof needs his own TV show on CBEEBIES or something!!

Secret spying on making sure the work people are doing their jobs properly and how it is all done !

A bit like Aunty Mable and Pipin ..but without Aunty Mable !!

bizzey · 31/10/2023 14:49

Strange how the 1 hour clock change always affects me on the Monday or Tuesday....
Today seems to be going very slowly !

It feels like it should be later.

Maybe that's because I am just being impatient waiting for my delivery 🤣

bizzey · 31/10/2023 14:49

I have done loads today!

Silkiefloof · 31/10/2023 14:57

Floof would absolutely love his own cbeebies show Bizzey and imagine he would be popular with kids due to his stupidity, friendliness and clumsiness. He wants to be everywhere work is going on so when 2 lots of people are here he's dashing upstairs then downstairs but one lot outside has thrown him hence the sticking head in window paint. 😂Our old moggie was so much more intelligent.

bizzey · 31/10/2023 15:30

Well we are certainly enjoying all his antics on this thread !!

Silkiefloof · 31/10/2023 15:36

Floof is currently exhausted, he's needed to watch the female painters from 8.30am to 3pm then the kitchen guys turned up at 1pm, its just too much work for 1 Floof. 😺There will be night time inspections. Oh no the scary drill has just started though Floof is too sleepy to care. Sometimes he rushes under my bed when he hears it but comes out immediately for a game.

MissConductUS · 31/10/2023 15:39

@DancesWithDucks , we decided to go with the converted Abbey with the lovely river views and gardens. DD is coming home from uni on Saturday morning to see it in person. Our future son in law will also get the tour at the same time, and they'll both get to meet the wedding planner face to face for the first time. I hope she loves it because we have no other great options now for her date in June. We're all going to go out somewhere posh for dinner afterward.

We haven't set the clocks back yet here. I'm looking forward to more light in the morning, but I dislike driving home in the dark.

Silkie, you might want to ring the vet about the paint removal. Cats get into everything, don't they? They're worse than toddlers.

Paired some socks. Wondered about sadness. Read a book. Did some laundry.

Silkiefloof · 31/10/2023 15:53

Converted abbey sounds wonderful MissC Yes maybe could ask the vets, its not too much maybe about an inch of a light coat, I guess potentially maybe able to cut out but Floof loves his fluff, am not sure if can be cut out. We have cat shampoo as well but Floof hates water. I could brave MN litter tray but I prefer staying in my safe threads.

bizzey · 31/10/2023 16:25

My unit arrived 😁 ...and it is damaged 😭
Sent them photo's ( x 100)

Let's see !

So glad it is a takeaway on the menu tonight!
