I looked up that tea ....

Does it really send you off to sleep ?

Can I put milk and sugar in it ?

It sent me to sleep

It didn't keep me asleep

The V&A have a YouTube channel with great videos on, ranging from showing parts of exhibitions to art techniques.

Quite fun if you're interested or can't get to the museum

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 27/10/2023 16:42

Thanks lollipop I may take a look at that.

That's a shame Tillly, maybe try it in pill form? Don't test it out the night before you have to get up early for work though!

In today's dull news - I finished my novel. House of Glass by Eve Chase It was gripping from start to finish. A story about breaking free from a toxic family.

HelenaJustina · 27/10/2023 19:47

Just spent a while catching up with everyone’s news.
Busy half term here, I’ve been fighting a cold since last Saturday evening which is giving me headaches. Have seen 3 portions of extended family, done haircuts, orthodontist appointments, pumpkin picking and decorating DC1’s bedroom. Upstairs looks like bedlam as furniture all out of room but hopefully will be finished by the end of the weekend and house can go back together!

MissConductUS · 27/10/2023 20:54

Sorry to hear you're so close to the danger, @ZZTopGuitarSolo. When I heard it happened in Lewiston/Auburn, I thought of you. They're looking for him in my area, too, as he did military training at West Point and was committed to the base hospital for a time, so they think he had a score to settle here about that.

Sorry I've been MIA for a bit. We have finally settled on a wedding venue, so we're waiting on the contract for that and should have it sorted next week.

I saw ducks on the reservoir yesterday for the first time in ages. Two males and a female. They were nowhere to be seen today.

Glad you have a wedding venue MissC

Glad you had a good half term Helena

We just went to an early fireworks for the air ambulance, took a while to get there as DH decided he knew better than the satnav, which added an extra 40 mins to journey, but got there just in time for fireworks starting from the carpark and saw them all then had a bratwurst and sauerkraut and a hot choc with marshmallows and cream. Also had cakes from bakers today, big vanilla cake and Halloween brownie. DS was happy.

Beautiful fireworks Silkie

It's been a long day here, 5 hours travelling home door to door with 3 DC on my own. DS isn't well either, hacking cold, wheezy. DH picked us up from the station, made a lovely supper for us. Had a lovely shower, now in bed with a book, and it's pouring down outside.

sproutsandparsnips · 27/10/2023 23:37

Lollipop I think I would like to go to the V&A.
Helena I hope you feel better soon.
Havoc we were very pleased to find that melatonin could be bought over the counter in Canada/Alaska, as we used it for our jet lag when we got back.
Fabulous photos Silkie and Miss
It has been a long day in work today, and I will be glad to go to bed and read my book. Off to watch our team play in the cup tomorrow.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/10/2023 00:49

Silkie, nice fireworks pics! 👍 Sounds like a great night!
Miss, yea that venue is set!
Lollipop&Helena, sorry to hear about ds and you being sick.
Thanks to everyone else for posting everyday news. 😊

Took Havoc to another suburb, waaay out, for an afternoon at a pumpkin patch, hay ride and visit various farm animals. It was a gorgeous fall afternoon: sunny and about 10c.

Feeling a bit brighter this morning and have been for a run and made veggie chilli for dinner tonight. No early swimming as DC2 has a gala this weekend.

Silkiefloof · 28/10/2023 13:23

That sounds lovely Havoc Glad you had a great time.

Thanks Lollipop Hope your DS feels better soon.

Hope the match goes well Sprouts

Just have a cup of tea and a Halloween chocolate brownie. Floof is very trilly.

DH has been trying to sort getting money back from French card stolen. They are currently refusing unless he goes into French branch and French police station and signs, already has crime reference no. and card was blocked at time. I think Credit Agricole are trying it on so I got him to put complaint in in writing. And he has actually taken my advice. Shame he didn't take it to phone and report card stolen rather than just do online though should still have worked

MissConductUS · 28/10/2023 13:36

Your fireworks pics are lovely, Silkie. I am not that much of a fan of seeing them in person. That may have to do with the fact that the only time we regularly have them here in the U.S. is on the 4th of July, and you have to deal with massive crowds to get to good places to watch them from. I feel for your DH. I've had a credit card number stolen a few times over the years. The company was good about refunding all of the fraudulent charges. And I always call to report it.

Helena, how did you manage to get so much done with a bad cold? I'm glad you're feeling better. It really does take a week to ten days to shift a cold.

The wedding venue we settled on is the converted Abbey I mentioned. DD likes the idea. It has lovely views and gardens, and will be a bit unique compared to having the reception at a hotel or country club.

I am still a bit wired from all of the WP decision making, so I was up very early this morning and walked three miles in the dark. It's a full moon now, or very close to full, so it wasn't completely dark. The bright object in the top left of the picture is Jupiter. Interestingly, the camera picked up several stars that weren't visible to me.

Nothing much planned for here, listed a few bits on eBay and Vinted and supposed to be meeting friends for a drink out later at local pub.

Silkiefloof · 28/10/2023 14:20

Halloween brownie.

Glad you have a venue MissC Sounds lovely.

We are having homemade French onion soup for lunch.

I also dislike crowds MissC especially when so many people get trapped in them. Fireworks can get very busy here too but this one wasn't. We were at the back and just us watching by the food vans. That was one advantage of DH taking his better route than the 3 recommended routes as we arrived late though just about 3 minutes in. I also like to park nearby but this one you could.

Have a nice time Gonna

Another damp miserable day here.

DS took the unit out to the front yesterday .

Hoovered and cleaned the awkward areas of the skirting board that is normally hidden away and never sees the light of dy or disable...

It is a recess under the stairs .

So now that area is nice and fresh for my new unit .

Now that I know I have the charity. collection coming on Wednesday , I am on a mission to make it a worthwhile collection and going around sorting out what can go 🤣!

I am in a ruthless decluttering mood !!

bizzey · 28/10/2023 14:23

🤦‍♀️light of day or visable!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/10/2023 18:59

Good morning all ☀️Sunny and 5c here. It was so nice waking up to chilly air in the bedroom while being snug under duvet. 🥰
Just finished having coconut choc-chip pancakes with maple syrup and fresh berries for breakfast. Also had sliced banana, but Havoc took that away from me. 😂
Have got laundry in the wash -bedding - and have pillows in the dryer freshening up. I line to pop then in a hot dryer for at least 10 minutes every week.

Silkie, yummy looking brownie! I love my sweets!!!!😋
Miss, what a nice way to start your day. 😊
Bizzey, good for you to de-clutter. It's a nice feeling, isn't it?
Gonna, cherish quiet days. They are very good for self-care. 😊

I'm going to get laundry done then get out for some sun and play with Havoc.
Currently have got a cartoon on tv for Havoc - it's talking about the difference between American and British English. 😂
Funny, we use/understand terms from both here! ie candy floss/cotton candy (former was common when I was a kid); cookie/biscuit (we say cookie); crisps/chips (we say chips).
Chips is is good one: we say Fish and Chips, but "chips" on their own are Fries. 😂
I am especially amused by the British use of the words, pants and napkins. 😁

mathanxiety · 28/10/2023 20:44

Glad you made it home, The SweetEnd. Hope your cosy night was uninterrupted and that your DC feels better soon. I always found small unwell children wore me out, and then when I was feeling exhausted I would come down with whatever they had given me just when they were on the rebound and raring to go, go, go.

ZZ glad the emergency is now over and I hope you're able to breathe easier now.

Hallowe'en fever has gripped the neighbourhood here, with decorations everywhere. Shops are full of candy and children are abuzz. The trees are magnificent and the smell of wet leaves and rain reminds me why I love this season. Our temperature dropped a good 30 degrees overnight. It's crisp and invigorating.

Helena I think I'm going to make a veggie chili too, maybe incorporating a chopped up smoked sausage I found in the freezer during the week.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/10/2023 23:01

Math, sounds like you live in a nice area. 😊

Chilli sounds like a good idea now that weather has turned! 😋
Not quite sure what I'll make yet, but I'm having a decaf latte and I broke into the box of Halloween chocolate and have eaten 7 mini chocolate bars (aero, kit kat and coffee crisp).

Somebody stop me!!! 😲

Tilllly · 28/10/2023 23:04

Oh Havoc, think of it as getting your calcium... 😃

I've had a nice day
A walk and lunch with DH and DS2

Then meal out for friends birthday

Silkiefloof · 29/10/2023 01:04

Glad you've had a nice day Tillly

It's OK Havoc you are eating for two and you'll be very popular with your little one.

Enjoy the veggie chilli Math

Bizzey Hope decluttering goes well. That is what I should have been doing today but instead spent it on MN and Netflix. 😳Watching the program about the New York Got Getti its good.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/10/2023 03:28

Just finished some cleaning, put a late of laundry in and having a late supper of spaghetti with evoo, pepper, pecorino and cottage cheese on the side. A bit strange, I know. Havoc has picked up my odd craving and and plopped down beside me and taken my plate. Eating happily. 🤷‍♀️

All that chocolate earlier gave me reflux, so have taken some medication my OB gave me and have learned my lesson. 🤦‍♀️

Breaking news that actor (Friends) Matthew Perry died earlier. Have had news on for over an hour. Total shocker. 😢

bizzey · 29/10/2023 09:45

I was very sad to wake up to that news as well Havoc 😥😥.

Too young x
RIP Matthew .

bizzey · 29/10/2023 11:23

Something very strange has come over me today !

I continued cleaning the skirting boards in the hallway with this new product I bought off internet .
I love it !!

Doorframes, doors, front door are amazing now.
Curtain from front door is in the wash ...

And I was feeling really good that I had got all that done by 12.10 pm....

Then realised,,I have not yet changed the cooker clock ...and it was only 11.20 AM 🤣🤣🤣!

I am so not a natural housekeeper or Mrs Hunch type if person ...

But hallway looks sparkling...

The sitting room on the other hand 🤣🤣!

That's where I have dumped all the dumping stuff 🤣.

Must have been a full moon last night or something...it has given me a motivation boost ....or a personality transplant 🤣

bizzey · 29/10/2023 11:23

UK clocks went back an hour last night !
