When does terrorism become war?

Looking at the news this morning I think the media are finding it difficult to register Palestinian attacks as a terrorism event or simply an attack of one state against another.

I suppose whether you view 5000 tickets as a terrorist atrocity or a declaration of war is dependent on your views on whether Palestine can ever be a functioning state. We plainly in Europe would describe such events as terrorism in that civilian populations have been targeted but in the eternally challenged middle East the use of such a word has political connurtations.

No-one was suggesting they should 'leave their land'. I was responding to posts about Gaza being a giant 'open air prison' - my point is, it's clearly not a prison, as they can leave.

You see race I simply see it as one country that has suffered an unprovoked attack supporting / sympathising with another country that has suffered an unprovoked attack.

Sad to see some of the posters here justifying the behaviour of terrorists. Their treatment of civilians deserves them all a spot at The Hague, but we know that will never happen in the international ‘justice’ system.

They are terrorists who established a de facto state in Gaza from 2005 onwards. This is an invasion by that terror state, and a declaration of war. If ISIS had decided to launch an invasion attack on the UK, what would you expect to see? How would you want to be defended?

They can't leave because it is where they live. And their rights are being eroded continuously, to the point of it being called a giant prison.

You can't go to someone house, deprive them of all their rights then say they are free people and they can just leave if they are not happy. Then you get to keep their house as the whole neighbourhood looks the other way...

Whatever you call it, it's counterproductive because Israel will retaliate massively and even more Palestinians will die. Meanwhile one of Hamas' leaders, Ismail Haniyeh, lives in luxury in Qatar where he is a millionaire, whilst sending others to die for the cause. Hamas don't give a shit about the Palestinian people.

Palestinians can’t cross over to Egypt because of the Iranian backing of Hamas and the potential long term consequences of opening the border that comes along with that, not because Egypt is unsupportive of the Palestinian fight. Egypt opening the border would be bowing to Israel, who would have wishfully hoped for mass migration once conditions and suffering got bad enough within the caged fences of Gaza.

If all the Palestinians in Gaza cross over to Egypt, all those who were massacred, tortured, raped and oppressed suffered for nothing and the Israeli state would be laughing all the way to the beach.
