School dinner ladys wearing uniform in playground

Euribia · 26/09/2023 10:12

I work at a local primary school where I know a few parents who are dinner ladys i keep noticing they wear their uniform when dropping their own kids off and then they go home and then come back at lunchtime. Do you feel this is appropriate. Im not sure whether to mention it to our head

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 absolutely and no, she didn't she wrote an even more ridiculous (obnoxious) one. I think the description 'Tool" was created for the OP.

😂😂

Crazycrazylady · 26/09/2023 13:46

Yes I'm sure the head would really appreciate your 'feedback' . Make sure and mention it🙄

…..nope, no idea.
Why is this a problem exactly?
If they were wearing bondage gear and a strap on I’d understand but I’m sure there’s nothing controversial about a uniform

Thank you for that mental image. I'll never look at a dinner lady the same again.

Also I'm fairly sure they will not be wearing a hoody while cooking.

No, I'm not a sock puppet, and I have a very good sense of humour, but thank you for your interest.

I just happen to think 'letting people enjoy a giggle' at someone else's expense is immature and bitchy. Some of the posters on this thread are coming off like school playground bullies tbh. If you think it's fine to sneer at other people in the guise of a so-called 'giggle' then we definitely don't share the same sense of humour, and I'm glad of it.

And if you've really been 'in stitches' over this thread, you need to get out more.

You don't think thinking the dinner ladies wearing their uniform to show off is immature and bitchy? And also entirely ridiculous?

I tried this at drop off. No one batted an eyelid.

Oh here she goes. If you are complaining about who is being immature and bitchy then maybe reread the OP's original posts (unless you wrote them). Plus you seem full of vitriol so not sure it's any of us with the problem.

I find a lot of things funny and I like being amused. Saying you have a good sense of humour doesn't really rimg true, and not a good defense in your case.

By the way I really don't care but

"And if you've really been 'in stitches' over this thread, you need to get out more"

is bitchy....and snide. I have no doubt you can't see it because, that's what bitchy, hypocritical people are usually like.

Whereas you, on the other hand, sound like a real sweetheart. 🙄

quantumbutterfly · 26/09/2023 13:54

I'm more bothered by people wearing scrubs in the supermarket.

I'm not pretending to be anything I'm not and I'm not hypocritically insulting people.

You've missed the point. Put your sock puppet back on, we'd have a better conversation.

They have our logo school hoodies on and then its like a chef white type of uniform I just think is it showing off in the playground to other parents bringing them attention /questions along with it not being hygienic. As they prepare food and serve it

You are small-minded, jealous and it's utterly pathetic you think they're "showing off". What a sad, immature way to think.

They bake their own bread in your school?? Wow that's impressive

Yes! Not every day but a couple of times a week at least. Usually to go with soup or when they do a plated salad/ploughmans type option rather than to make sandwiches with.

They also make their own pizza bases. The school 'cook' used to run a bakery and has another catering type business outside of doing school dinners as well and very much prides themselves on making good quality, hearty cheap meals from scratch.

It does mean that some days the options are quite cheap/basic e.g. vege soup and fresh bread, there's also a LOT of jacket potatoes and mince/ lentil based meals but it's no frills and nutritious and the kids seem to love it.

There's a very very high take up of school dinners and all the teachers also have school dinners too according to my children.

It's just a normal rural primary school with around 100 pupils.

AlwaysPrettyOnTheInside · 26/09/2023 14:02

This has to be the most ridiculous thread I've seen on here, but then op hasn't been back except to say that dinner ladies are showing off in their uniforms in the playground, so this is probably a wind up thread.

Euribia · 26/09/2023 14:04

Well here's an update! I mentioned it as its against our school rules that we don't wear uniform in the playground and infant the headteacher was very happy to receive the information and it will be spoken about in our next meeting

Just as an aside I don't think medical/nurses should wear their uniforms into shops/pubs or supermarkets especially scrubs. I say this as a nurse I do however travel to and from work in my uniform as there is nowhere to change.
What do you all think about Drs who wear their own clothes to work? They probably do shopping and go to the pub afterwards. If you are in uniform you are less likely to go out in it.

I personally don't know why you want to be seen out and about in any uniform but I don't think I could get that worked up about it. Also, pretty sure the HT must have seen the dinner ladies showing off in their uniforms anyway 😁.

Escapefromhell · 26/09/2023 14:07

I once knew a woman who worked in a kitchen. She kept her horses at my parent’s farm. She would muck out on her way to work… wearing her chef clothes

Your headteacher is called Infant?

Strange name.

CherryCokeFanatic · 26/09/2023 14:08

Good job OP

discusting behaviour showing off and being unhygenic, probably sat smoking at home in it then go back to make the lunches 🤢

Well I'm very very glad I don't work in your school. Why can't they wear the uniform? Arr the school ashamed of them?

😅🤣😅 Don't believe it for a second. Very happy to recieve it my arse. Did he do a little jig of joy?

Does your school not allow bus drivers or postmen in the school yard wearing uniform either?

Why assume they smoke? Or do you you assume all people smoke or just people on low wages

Elliania · 26/09/2023 14:09

Well good for you OP, you've potentially made trouble for the dinnerladies who aren't doing anything to hurt anyone. Maybe you need to get a hobby instead of being a nosy tell tale bitch.
