@petalpower
@autumnangel

@RunningKatie
@LateSummerLobelia
@Aria999
@Mumtobabyhavoc

and anyone else who would like to join us, whatever your daily tasks are.

I joined after procrastinating putting up some curtain tie backs and now I am flying through a massive decluttering exercise. (I need to tackle the loft next, but I may need to sit down (a lot) before I do that 😄).

Hope the tagging works, SoE.

Hello everyone. 🥱 Been awake since just before 3am and just watching/listening to YouTube vids. Seem to have developed a frustrating pattern...😡
Been puttering to keep things tidy and managed to put coats etc back into front closet in better order after packing away during flooring reno. Still lots of sorting as am determined to purge and not just put things back. Still need to do more painting, but it won't be difficult (unless I tackle kitchen).

Thanks for the kind and encouraging words. ☺️
I'm reading everyone's posts for motivation!!!

SpiritOfEdna · 19/10/2023 13:32

Morning; gym session down and am raring to go today. Need to do a food shop now I've menu planned - it's a mix of cooking from scratch and easy to pull together things that can be done in 15 mins - but pulled from MyFitnesspal where I've previously input everything (I go through phases of logging everything and then nothing !) but it is useful when trying to stick to a calorie limit and a fast window.

Other stuff today

  • online food order
  • do 5K on exercise bike
  • put all DIY tools away
  • hand sand the spare bed, and try and ask someone to ask to open the next pot of stripper 😄
  • tidy up bedroom floor
That's all for today, have a good day, SoE

@Peridot1 I’m just like you when a glass of wine is offered and have no willpower to say no! Trying to be good Monday to Thursday though.
How are you getting on with your exercise bike @SpiritOfEdna ? I do 7km each morning and usually watch tv or listen to podcasts at the same time.
I’m still suffering with the lurgy so haven’t really achieved much.

  • Dropped off a cake for a village event at the weekend that’s we won’t be here for as we’re away visiting family
  • used another of the 33 harvested butternut squash making a ricotta and squash lasagne
  • made a lemon drizzle loaf to take away to in-laws
  • cleaned the fridge
  • put away Sainsbury’s delivery
  • posted a skirt I sold on eBay
  • wrote a big list of all the things we mustn’t forget to take away with us
  • resisted killing DH who is knocking down a wall in the house and making a hell of a mess (necessary but the rubble and plaster dust is just everywhere)
SingleThreadJoiner · 20/10/2023 09:44

Morning everyone, if you are in the UK, I do hope you are not too much under water...it's not dramatic over here, but it is raining relentlessly, and I have to go out twice this morning (pilates and later flu shot) so I am not looking forward to it! Very envious of everyone's cooking inspiration - I haven't had the energy to do anything interesting for a while, but maybe during half-term the change of schedule will inspire me more?

@Mumtobabyhavoc I really feel for your sleepless nights...broken sleep is the worst. My D still wakes up every night and calls me, and I have to go to her bed, and it drives me crazy. Solidarity.

The plumber, devastatingly, was not able to fix the dishwasher and has advised we get a new one 😬it would have been nice to know this four weeks ago and get a head start, though I appreciate he was trying to help us by doing a repair rather than a total replacement!

Waiting for the online grocery delivery (the poor guys, having to work in this weather) and will have to blitz putting it away before pilates. Yesterday I tried to sell on one of D's sleeping bags but after much back and forth the person turned it down. You all seem much more efficient than me at selling things on!

Dreaming of sunshine, or at least dry weather...

SpiritOfEdna · 20/10/2023 11:51

Morning @petalpower the pedals are soooo squeaky they drive me mad - but I am going to persevere. Did 5km last night listening to some music, head down.
@SingleThreadJoiner - sibling has taken SpiritDoggo for her walk - I think it might be her only one of the day as the rain is relentless out there. We'll see how expectant she looks at 4-ish and if she can be persuaded to not have a walk 😄
Today

  • make changes to yesterday's deck following feedback
  • get the WD40 on exercise bike and do 5K
  • I stuck to fast window yesterday, aiming for a 2 day streak 😃
  • remove last bits of varnish from bed
Thankfully, it's Friday, have a good day, SoE

Hello! Bright sunshine dahn sahf, but plenty of rain and thunder overnight and more forecast!
@petalpower I forgot to tell you: you have now got this household doing connections as well as wordle. Today's scores are wordle in 5 and just the green line for the other one. I got wordle in one a couple of weeks ago!! Twas music that day.
@SingleThreadJoiner , having to get up in the night is relentless - now it's due to a cat and bladder! I well remember the days of small children and 'musical beds' though!

Yesterday I lost a post so I shall post this one then go again!

Thunderinglightly · 20/10/2023 13:32

I really enjoyed your megapost @SingleThreadJoiner so don't apologise!

I am very weary! Woke up feeling somewhat 'blue' and luckily had planned my start to the day. So coffee and puzzles first, shower, then made nice brekkie for me and himself (he literally falls out of bed and goes straight to his desk, hence insisting on a bit of a healthy thing each day @Peridot1 ) Then embarked upon an online course I signed up for and promptly did nothing with a month ago, for an hour. Then did my horse volunteering which is so very soul soothing, especially as I had the place to myself. Some heavyish work plus a little bit of messing about with one of the ponies (a pamper session and some gentle exercise as he's getting on a bit)
I feel physically tired and mentally much better!
@RunningKatie still cheering you on and a bit of solidarity with job and DC.

@Aria999 any luck with work? And @OrangePumpkinLobelia have you made appt yet for your back? I used to go to a McTimoney guy as well. He fixed my frozen shoulder but used more sports massage to do that. I frequently used to send riders to him when i was teaching, as so many could not sit quite straight and it was invariably pelvis trouble. I go to a sports massage therapist now and she keeps my migraines at bay so I love her!

I need to ring my mum,
Create dinner from leftover curry and one raw chicken breast for my zero waste, plus random veg.
Look at what's in freezer and menu plan for the week.
Sort out sock drawer!

Peridot1 · 20/10/2023 14:14

Hello all.

I seemed to forget to post this morning.

However I did go to the gym! And worked fairly hard so pretty pleased with myself. Was so busy chatting to my PT on Wednesday when I went that I didn’t feel I did much. I need to tell her to push me a bit more. Which I might regret!

Have just been to the garden centre with DH to buy some plants and bulbs. Have a lovely cheery bowl of pink cyclamens on our outside table now which is cheering me up to see. The Christmas section was amazing. I managed to sneak a cute little china reindeer tree decoration. And some bits to make an Advent candle wreath.

Not planning much else today as am shattered after the gym!

Aria999 · 20/10/2023 14:17

Hi everyone!

Bad news about the dishwasher @SingleThreadJoiner hope you can get a new one quickly.

Thanks for asking @Thunderinglightly ! I applied for 3 projects yesterday and have two interviews today which is better than my usual hit rate. One of them is just a few hours fixed price piece of work for someone in Canada, the other is potentially quite substantial for a uk company; I hope I get it!

Of course as soon as I have possible work DD is unwell. She has been getting bad stomach ache after her nap the last few days. I think it's related to not pooping but will need to take her to the doctor if it continues.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/10/2023 17:05

Thanks, Single. Actually slept 8 hours straight last night!!! Yea!!!! 🥳🥳🥳Thanks for your solidarity! 🩷
Must've been due to exhaustion. Havoc sleeps straight through night, so am lucky here for now... let's see how we do when new baby here. 🤔
How frustrating re your dishwasher. 😡
Aria, your poor DD. I can sympathize. Same here. It's not fun. Hope it's sorted for her soon. Good luck for the job! 🤞
Peridot, good for you re gym session! It's such a positive to have that for ourselves. 😊
Thunder, I'm glad you've got your horse therapy. I remember horse life so fondly when I was growing up. Coincidently, I recently looked online for trail rides and riding lessons. I want to introduce Havoc to it - much to young still, though- but maybe in spring I can do something like that for myself. I also do connections, and letters boxed, spelling bee and wordle! 🤓
SoE, quite a wood project re bed by sound of it! I have a dresser that was my grandmother's, pine, stripped years ago, and that's as far as I got. 😵‍💫I am quite impressed with your progress!👍

Due to sleep issues this week have not done a lot. Just trying to maintain. Aiming for progress today/this weekend. 🤞
Must get a move on...while reading posts and posting here have got Havoc cuddled beside me occupied with Cocomelon Wheels on the Bus song and now Sesame Street Elmo learning ABC's. Havoc very cutely sings wheels go round and round as "round and bound...."

petalpower · 20/10/2023 17:42

Hope you’ve got the squeaky pedals sorted @SpiritOfEdna !
What do you think of Connections @Thunderinglightly ? Some days I find it quite achievable but others not so much. I think because it’s American it makes it harder some days.
Well today has been a bit of a write off. We are stranded in our village by flood water. Set off for the in laws but couldn’t get more than a couple of miles so we returned home. Daughter is stuck at work but our neighbour works close by and has access to a tractor so she will be brought back on that later as nothing else can get through . Further into our village is totally flooded into houses - waist deep on the little road through the village in places. We may see if we can get away tomorrow as it’s my nephew’s 21st lunch on Sunday which is one of the reasons for visiting (lots of family in the area). Will have to se if the floods subside. All quire dramatic for us but devastating for this further into the village whose houses have flooded. Local schools have had to set up camp beds for pupils to stay overnight.

Thunderinglightly · 20/10/2023 18:56

Oh my goodness @petalpower! The flooding sounds very alarming! I did not realise the storm had come so far down! I think you said you are Southish. I hope you are able to get safely to and from the lunch. And that DD gets home safely. Gosh waist high water and flooded homes doesn't bear thinking about. Are you in an area that's suffered flooding before?
In answer to your question, yes I have sometimes done connections correctly in one go, and at other times I can't get near it even after seeing the correct answers. I enjoy giving it a go though.

Wishing you the very best @Aria999 with the interviews and I hope your little one feels better soon. Rotten timing!

@Mumtobabyhavoc Havoc sounds like a very cute age! I love all those cute songs sung in little baby voices. Hope you are able to get horse time next year. They really are very therapeutic and I feel so lucky to have them in my life.

I've achieved everything except my sock drawer. DH and I are about to sit down for a peaceful evening with our phones off. We tend to do a great deal of worrying about various relatives young and old, and we do support all as best we can, but mum is ok with her carer tonight and the kids are old enough to deal with their stuff and us worrying isn't helping them or us. It's usual relationship/car/work stuff that we can't fix anyway. It's a hard habit to break!

Best wishes to all for a happy Friday evening 💕

petalpower · 20/10/2023 19:40

We are East Anglia @Thunderinglightly . I’m really not sure about the lunch as although it’s stopped raining now there is a huge amount of water running off the fields and more forecast tomorrow. DD is home safely having had an exciting tractor ride which included rescuing stranded cars en route. Her car is stuck at work but is safe there. We’ve not had flooding like this in the 14 years we’ve been here. We’ve been very lucky. The retaining wall into the woods behind our house was a couple of feet from our house flooding. We have opened the Friday wine!!

Crikey I've just seen the images on BBC news. Thrilled to hear that DD is home. Do you mean there's water the wood side of your wall? This is one heck of a storm. Hoping our other projecters are safe and sound!

petalpower · 20/10/2023 20:22

Yes @Thunderinglightly . We have a retaining wall between us and the woodland. We are higher but the water was at the bottom of the wall and rising. Was mentally planning what to move upstairs first!

Aria999 · 20/10/2023 22:04

Goodness @petalpower that sounds like a neat miss with the flooding! Most alarming, glad you are all ok and still dry.

Happy Friday evening everyone!

I got the tiny project (it's fixed price and I always under bid so it will probably end up being sub minimum wage but it will be fun).

The big project interview went ok I think but they are meeting 2 more people on Monday so we will see.

I am not very good at interviews emotionally, I definitely needed a cup of tea after that one!

Currently at consecutive Kung fu belt tests for DS and me. (People seldom fail these so hopefully not too stressful).

DD didn't get sent home from preschool! DH is collecting her so I haven't had a health update.

Aria999 · 20/10/2023 22:05

*near, not neat, not sure edit button is available on the app!

Thunderinglightly · 21/10/2023 07:05

Well done on the tiny project @Aria999 Still crossing fingers for the others and I hope you and DS have achieved you next belts.

Wet and windy is back here. Recently a large number of houses have been built round here on areas that are known to flood. Hoping that they have built a decent drainage system. Honestly doubting it as they have gone up very quickly.

My kitchen never did get scrubbed in the week so I intend to do that today. Also will take my mum shopping, or maybe take a list and do it for her if the weather doesn't setttle.

Have a lovely weekend all! I hope our @petalpower has not been washed away ♡

Peridot1 · 21/10/2023 09:10

Gosh @petalpower that sounds worrying. Glad you escaped the flooding. It’s been horrendous in places.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - I miss those toddler stages. They are so cute. Although I remember my Dad being almost traumatised once as DS insisted on him rewatching an episode of Peppa Pig with him again and again and again!

@Aria999 good luck with the job hunting! Hope the second one comes through.

I feel exhausted today for some reason. So not planning much. Post office trip to post a parcel and try to sort my driving licence renewal and a supermarket shop and then that’s it for the day.

Have a great Saturday all.

petalpower · 21/10/2023 12:01

I’m still here and not washed away! Thank you for your good wishes. We have been lucky but others close to us very badly flooded. The water has gone down and we are heading north to family ready for tomorrow’s birthday lunch. Lots of spray and rain in places. My dad and stepmother’s village was cut off last night but they are ok today

petalpower · 22/10/2023 11:45

How are you all this weekend? We’re now at in-laws and shortly to set off for my dad and stepmother’s to drop Petaldog off and all go together to my nephew’s 21st birthday lunch. Yesterday I cooked a full chicken roast dinner for everyone with my SIL’s help and helped FIL do his blue badge application. Have left the in-laws with food goodies to give them a bit of a treat. Have done a bit of early online Christmas shopping whilst I’m here too!

Thunderinglightly · 22/10/2023 13:28

Hello all. Very glad all is ok @petalpower and i hope you are enjoying your family lunch!
@Peridot1 you are smashing it! Christmas and exercise....not surprised you are tired 😴

I'm in charge of cooking today. DH is suffering from an on and off health issue so he's taken to his bed with a golfing magazine. I also have a novel on the go that I'm really enjoying and my current excuse for not doing much else is that he's already said he feels guilty as he had a few jobs lined up today which aren't going to get done now. He will feel less guilty if I'm not rushing about is my logic...

I'm looking at quite a lot of dust now the sun is shining once again so I may waft my feather duster about, and I should probably brush the cats. But the novel is very good so no plans to do much more than that.

Peridot1 · 22/10/2023 13:43

Glad you are all ok @petalpower. Sounds like you’ve been busy!

@Thunderinglightly - what’s the novel? Love a good recommendation! Nothing better than a lazy Sunday afternoon with a good book - enjoy.

I had a lazy day yesterday. Went back to bed in the morning and slept for a while. Then went out to supermarket to get a few things for a three day food cleanse/re-set I’m doing from tomorrow. More laziness in the afternoon followed by an early night.

Lovely day here today so I’ve been out in the garden and planted some of the plants we got the other day and some bulbs. DH is attempting to cut the lawn. Off into out neighbours for dinner this evening so no cooking here.

Have a lovely Sunday all.

RunningKatie · 22/10/2023 18:53

Congrats @Mumtobabyhavoc - how wonderful to read your news. Hope you are taking it a little easier, your lists are always so impressive.
We were sent home from work on Fri due to the rain, it was so crazy, lots of places around us flooded but we escaped it. Now we're in the north west and it's like it's never rained here!
Dd is doing ok, thank you all so much for your kind wishes. Lots of naps and a strict regime of meds, and healthy foods etc., so hoping to get some colour back in the very pale cheeks over this week.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/10/2023 19:50

Thanks, Katie. Hope your dd feels better soon. 🩷
Got some epic sleep last night!!!! 10:30pm-5am. Woke up three times. But then fell asleep 7am-10:30am!!! 😁😁😁😁
Having a latte and watching a doc. Havoc content to play. Will putter in a bit. Laundry, sort a box or two.
