Whether it’s personal or well known, which unsolved case makes your brain sound like dial up?

She was psychotic- that's what happens. No mystery.

I was going to say the same as I’ve watched the footage a few times & it’s clear that she’s experiencing some sort of psychotic episode. I’ve worked in mental health though so maybe it’s easier to recognise.

I’ll start with mine: Spontaneous Combustion. Part of me is like there’s no way, but how are whole bodies found burned to a crisp without anything else around them being at the very least scorched. You can’t burn a body and THEN move it, so what happened?

Is this even a thing any more? I have not read about any cases of it for a very long time.

There is no mystery. Millions has been wasted looking for someone who has disappeared into a rubbish heap. Months and months of police time spent searching 7200 tons of landfill. He has been incinerated and now his mother- who is not rational- wants incinerated landfill searched and analysed. Time to say no

I doubt I'd be thinking rationally either if I was in her position. We need to be a bit careful with our words on these threads. Imagine if she was reading this.

Absolutely. I think family members if mentioned at all should be respected at all times.

Not spoken about as if we know them or know how we would feel in this situation.

I wouldn’t say she was irrational at all,I’d say shes a grieving mother who can’t say goodbye nor bury her own son & despite knowing what most likely happened, she just wants her loved one back and to honour their memory properly.

Just my opinion.

TheFormidableMrsC · 03/09/2023 23:59

@Beezknees could you possibly point me in the direction of the thread please?

Forgot to mention Cindy James in my post, She was from Canada. She reported over 100 incidents of stalking to the police who in the end believed she was faking them all/doing it all herself.

She would get letters/threats wrapped around rocks thrown through her window, bangs at her door in them middle of the night, phone calls etc

She was later found dead in an abandoned house with her hands and feet tied behind her back, She had been beaten and drugged with morphine. The police ruled it a suicide..

Police did a great job there, didn't they? 😐

Absolutely, the Elisa Lam case is one of the creepiest mysteries I’ve ever heard about. Apparently a disease broke out around the same time right where the hotel she was found dead in is, and it’s called called Lam Elisa 😳😳 that lift video makes me shiver to think about

LAM ELISA isn't a disease, it's ''Lipoarabinomannan (LAM) Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA)''

It's a diagnostic test for diseases like HIV and even pregnancy tests.
nothing sinister at all- Elisa tests are used in UK and elsewhere.

Elisa's death was eerie though, poor girl.

@Andthereyougo no trace of Ben Needham has ever been found. What you are describing is an unsubstantiated theory.

My mistake. There were no remains found. There was a shoe similar in size and design to the ones Ben was wearing, a trace of blood was found on the shoe. There was also a toy car believed to have belonged to Ben was found at the same location.

Katrice Lee, who disappeared as a toddler from a supermarket on an army base in Germany over 40 years ago.

I read that thread too, and I thought the exact same thing.

I saw that thread. I could be wrong but I don't think @Meidid is Ruth Wilson.

She describes the "first two decades of my (her) life" suggesting she was over 20 when she left.

She says her family made out that she was emotionally unstable. This didn't happen with Ruth Wilson.

She says her family made sad faced appeals in the media. Based on what I have read on Reddit, Websleuth etc Ruth Wilson's parents actually didn't want much attention drawn to the case.

I am like a previous poster, getting the vibe about a religious oppressive home with risk of honour based violence or worse from @Meidid's thread. Ruth Wilson was a white Christian girl. Her home life didn't sound extremely oppressive. The no TV thing is unusual , perhaps her parents were a little strict about TV but I doubt she feared honour based violence from them? I could be wrong but it seems strange that her friends didn't mention anything "off" about her home life in that sense?

I'll post something tangentially relevant to this thread, I was bemused to read in the obituary of Specials and Fun Boy Three singer Terry Hall this year about how as a kid he'd been taken to France by a school teacher and abused by a paedophile ring. Just mentioned in passing, what I found disturbing is no mention of any follow-up, like was the teacher arrested or questioned - though this link I've just found in the Mail give more on it, as least says no suggestion Hall mentioned it at the time. It's a hell of a thing to just put out there and not follow up.

How The Specials frontman Terry Hall was abducted by 'paedophile ring'

The 1983 track Well Fancy That described how the singer was abducted and taken to France aged 12 by a school teacher, who then abused him. He later said that he was abused by a 'paedophile ring'.

Mary Ferns who was an elderly lady who disappeared in Princes Street, Edinburgh. There has never been an update in many years. Although she will now be dead, it is a mystery why the police never discuss the case.

Marie Wilkes and her unborn child, killed on side of Motorway in 1988. Someone was jailed for the murder but released later on appeal. Hope her young baby boy and sister that had been waiting in the broken down car have found happiness in their lives

I don't agree. She has not been honest with police about him and both family members and the police have expressed 'disappointment' at withheld information. This investigation had cost almost £3million 5 years ago. It's ludicrous.

SpiderWillyDoesWhateverASpiderWillyDoes · 04/09/2023 00:32

@Meidid, I don't know 100% if you'r e Ruth Wilson or not. But whatever the truth is, I am glad you managed to get away from the abuse you describe and are now living a decent life. This is from someone who endured a childhood like yours. I wish you all the best and I think you're amazing.

I've just read the bit about how they scanned under the hospital car park which was under construction at the time they disappeared and found what could be three grave sites but won't dig because it's too expensive!

So many cases where evidence is just ignored.

They won’t dig there because there is zero evidence they are buried there.

The only reason the whole hospital car park theory came to be was because an alleged psychic claimed one of the women came to her in a dream and told her they were buried there. They’re not going to dig it up just because of that.

Although I stand by my opinion in my last post because despite what we may think as individuals, she is still his Mother & we can’t possibly know how she felt or is feeling. I do however respect what you are saying.

I wasn’t aware of her withholding information from the police & I do agree that the cost of the investigation is absolutely ludicrous, however I’m interested in knowing what it is specifically she’s not been honest about?

Cruise ship missing persons fascinate me. This is a rabbit hole I have fell down before and was utterly shocked at the amount of incidents on cruise ships. There is no centralised database of missing persons and due the lack of jurisdiction on ships and the smoke and mirrors around flags of convenience - it is impossible to say how many people exactly go missing from cruises. But it is thought to be at least 1 per month

Thats what I thought, although people are pointing out they are all falling/jumping overboard, which may well be correct. I know someone who Captain’s huge freight ships, the type that go through Panama Canal, and they fly Captains/officers in/off via helicopter if need be, not sure if planned swap outs or delays mean they can only do so many days/hours and it exceeds or someone gets ill, not sure. Anyway, they were saying that these all have surveillance on all rails right around on every deck. So, if someone is reported missing, they can establish when person was last sighted and then they would go back through footage until that point and that allows them to see if they went overboard and if so at what point which makes searching an area easier. I just assumed it would be the same for cruise liners, that they would also have the same closed circuit surveillance around the ship including all deck rails, but seemingly not if all of these disappearances are people going overboard.

MartyMcFlysPurpleUnderwear · 04/09/2023 00:46

I have found the ‘Ruth Wilson’ thread and to be honest I am not quite sure how people have come to the conclusion it is her. I couldn’t find anything in particular she said that points to her it being her unless I am missing something.

JaneJeffer · 04/09/2023 00:48

@MartyMcFlysPurpleUnderwear a crime reporter had the area scanned with ground penetrating radar and they found three anomalies roughly the same size that were consistent with a grave site location

I believe that crime reporter was hired by the alleged psychic and the device they used was actually designed by the crime reporter themselves...

MartyMcFlysPurpleUnderwear · 04/09/2023 01:05

Not to mention anomalies under concrete are not uncommon. I am also not entirely sure how you could confirm the anomalies were consisted with graves either even if someone wasn’t using a dodgy scanning device...

Lee Boxell. DH is a Sutton United fan so this one is close to home. The appeals by his parents on the anniversaries have been heartbreaking.

Annie Borjossen (sp) the Swedish student found drowned on a beach in Prestwick, who was seen in an airport the night before and had her long hair cut between being seen on cctv and her body being found a few hours later

Read that he might have stumbled upon a Cub Scout paedophile ring in the area, and they did away with him. Even in the last few years his picture was on a missing persons poster at Sutton station.

It is a small world - my driving instructor had his mother as a customer and said how she like to talk about him a lot. But, in his words, she stopped using him as he was adversely affected by the story, he got upset so out of sympathy she stopped.

I was also doing a boring car maintainence course in Dorking when one of the young lads on it turned up one morning bleary eyed, saying his girlfriend had gone missing and the police had had him up all night for questioning. This later turned out to be Ruth Wilson. I may be mis-remembering, as the wiki page says she didn't have a boyfriend, just an ex with whom she'd remained on good terms.

It's odd how the missing people do get noticed by local people who never met them, not just via the papers.

I think the police were really sure it was the digger driver and then they thought they had found his toy car and turns out it wasn't so it all went quiet on that front...it's not clear to me (going by Wikipedia) whether they still suspect the digger driver was involved or not. Apparently they found traces of blood in 2017 on a sandal as well as on soil from inside a toy car (both believed to belong to Ben) but we haven't heard anymore since. Last thing was they were going to extract DNA to determine who the blood belongs to-can we assume now that this also didn't turn out to be Ben's? Seems it would be huge news if it was.
